NUTS is going to see an 1125r today! Every so often I get a call asking me if I'd be interested in buying yet another motorbike. Got that call on Saturday...we'll see. NUTS

Sorry Tank, wasn't questioning your manhood. Vespa just kind of fit my mood at the moment. These guys have totally lost their center and I'm stuck down here in the land of.....(I better not say how I feel about this place) My d@mn rear tire is so flat in the center it couldn't make a corner if I could find one.
Nuts you be careful with that 1125R, it's like having a gun with a filed down trigger. There could be power there you have never seen before.
Jackie, I understand you delimia, you train them, make them into good woodsmen and they repay you by going their own way. And your left to face "Ole moss back alone". The tractor won't fill that void. You just have to train a new partner and start the process all over again.

Charlie, fear not. NUTS and brotherNUTS are in negotiations to have a 2005 XB9sx City Cross in the garage. From what our friend Seth tells me the bike has low miles, race kit and a need of new tires. $4k sounds awful fair don't it? I am just tickled; finally a Buell in the pack again. Fingers are crossed(toes too)!

Nuts,
I would say that price from a"dealer"is a very good price. I think you will like the City Cross. I still like that motor better than the twelve and you won't have the problem you had with the Uly. I'll cross my fingers for ya, but don't take to long. With this RA that's a difficult task.Charlie

Guys,
Me and Nuts stopped by the shop to look at the new 1125. All I can say is it is actually UGLIER in real life. I didn't think that was possible.
The scoops really weren't that bad but the fairing is an abomination. It looks like the robots head from Rocky IV. I kid you not, watch the movie and look at the robots head. It is an almost identical match!
Charlie,
We need to keep a close eye on our friend. We went to two bike shops today and I could see the wheels turning in his head. I don't think it will be too long before Nuts surprises us with something new.

Don't let Nuts ride the thing.

Once you twist the grip, it doesn't matter what it looks like, because everyone else sees only the back.

It's that fast, and it turns better than an XB. "When" they unveil the 2009 1125S, I'll be first in line.

p.s. I might have to come out there to get it, because my dealer doesn't "get it".

Thats alright Nuts. I wanna hang out in the shed and sit on the new ride making vroom, vroom sounds since I can't really ride it until the skid plates get here.
You know I can't be scratching up my fine new ride. I figured you could walk ahead of me and cut any branches or brush that might leave a scratch. What say you?

Hey Jackie,
Does that thing have a utility box on it to carry all that detailing stuff your going to need when you finally get to that remote stand.(Mtn. top,35 miles from paved road)And how much plastic wrap will it take before you let that poor dead deer ride on your new machine, on his way to the meat packers and your freezer?
I guess you could have Nuts( after he gets through cutting brush) carry him out for you. What are buddies for, right. Those first couple of trips in the woods should be fun to watch.

Charlie,
I'm already sweatin' bullets over the intitial trip. I ordered full underbody aluminum skid plates to protect the bottom but can't seem to find any for the fenders .
My next purchases will be front and rear utility boxes so I can carry some Armor All, Plexus and microfiber towels in there for those trailside touch ups.
As far as hauling deer out goes, I don't want to get the racks or plastic bloody so they will be pulled behind whilst I ride in luxury. May even have to break down and get one of those enclosed cabin kits for when its raining. Who am I kidding? It ain't going out in the rain

Jackie,
The truth is I believe just about everything you said. I know your not old enough, but maybe you watched a few old movies where they had the thick clear plastic covers(forties& fifties) on all the furniture. You need a set for the ATV.

Charlie,
Being honest all I can say is this. I have to use it for its intended purpose but I can assure you it won't be thrashed needlessly. Yes, I will ride it in the rain or mud to retrieve game or set out a stand. No, I won't go joy riding in the rain or mud (sorry Nuts ).
The plan is to take my time and cut down the saplings growing in the old logging roads that already exist. Should take 5-6 trips to get the work done and will leave me with a nice grid that ends up connecting all side of the property.
Now if you happen to find me a set of plastic furniture covers that might fit just let me know and I'll send you the funds immediately .

One of a kind, Fo Sho!!!

If Jackie is flashin the Cash, I'll go to Lowes and get a roll of plastic and a razor knife. We could wrap the whole thing, except for the wheels. Might need some duct tape too.

Tank,
It's a no win deal, thirty yards into the woods he would be trying to get the scratches out of the plastic cover.

Now you guys know I can't be toolin' around with scratches on my clear protective covers. I may end up needing some sort of protection for my protective covers .
I was also thinking maybe I could drag the deer to the road and then use the ATV to haul it the rest of the way back to my vehicle. That way instead of having to drag them 300 yards by hand it would only be 250 yards.
I think I am on to something now!!

Tank,
I got two words for you buddy, Hatfield Mccoy. There is talk between Nuts and myself of taking a 3 day trip there sometime in March. Check out the website and see if you might have any interest.

Does the Prozac have any scratches or other damage? My insanity knows no bounds !

Where you been hiding man? I followed your cross country trip with great envy. Wondered what spurred you to take a journey of such epic proportions but I think the EX part of your above post answered that one. Sorry to hear about that and hope things move forward smoothly.

Jackie,

I'll check for scratches. ;)

No, the ex thing happened more than 3 years ago.

I have wanted to ride cross country for a long time. I've known I was going to do it "some day" for at least a year, and have been preparing for it subtly. The decision last July to ride back from homecoming in a single day was partly to see if I could handle long distance days. My g/f was going to be in Seattle at the end of October, and that was the motivation to choose that time to do the ride.

It wasn't an ideal time. I would have liked to have more time, and I would have preferred a month with milder weather than late October. But if I waited for the ideal time I'd never get to go. So I went.

People have asked me if it was fun. I'm glad I did it, and I'd do it again. It's very satisfying in an "I just ran a marathon" sort of way. It involved a lot of suffering too, so I'm not sure I'd call it fun.

I'm glad you enjoyed reading about it. It was great to have people following along. Much better than trying to explain it all after getting home.

Jim,
I read it too, and there is no way I could do it. Good on ya for "just doing it". I'm jealous.

Jackie,
There are more than rumors that I am heavily related to one side of the Hatfield/McCoy saga. I just don't know which one. Pops lived out there for a good bit of his early life.

I'm in! Provide details when they come, please.
Will it be a week thing, or are ya'll trying to kill yourselves in 2-3 days??

I need hard bags.

Tank,
As of now we are looking at leaving Roanoke mid morning for an early afternoon arrival at our KOA Kabin. Take a short trail ride that afternoon and then sit around a campfire whilst telling tales.
Next day, all day ride then get a bite to eat. Since it is only 75 miles of trails is it worth staying another day and doing it again? If so we can ride another day and then pack up the next morning.
The ATV isn't physically taxing so I should be able to ride two days in a row if ya'll wanna do that.
This is preliminary so if you have any input feel free to throw it on out there.

Looks like the "new" 75 miles of trails is just the tip of the Hatfield/McCoy iceberg. A brutha could get lost for years up there, as long as his bike doesn't get wet

I'd be up for 2 days riding. Seems to be plenty of fuel to go round.

Nuts,
If the wind dies a little I plan on being up at the club around 1:30-2:00. If you are on the lower road I'll hit the top.
Make sure you stop at my truck for a dip and some rehashing of the days events.

Jack, I plan on going to atleast set my stand for the morning. I'd like to get some predator/squirrelin in. The wind will be gusty at times but seems to settle in a bit too. I'm sure hoping I see you there. NUTS

I've also got my eye on a .223 for some heavy predator action. NUTS

Charlie,The Hatfield/McCoy thing is nothing compared to the complete havoc that the Nuts-n-Torts-n-Tank show could provide. Just a guess?

I'm just hoping we can avoid running into this crazy trio of hillbillies. They may not be too smart but it could be a dangerous situation if we end up accidently trespassing on their land.
If we do cross paths I'll take out the one with the big ears. You and Nuts can wrassle with the other two .
