Whats up everyone. I see its alittle slow lately. My buell was up for sale a while ago and I'm thinking of keeping it. I wanted to see if there was anybody here that knew S2's well. I want to do a few things to it and would greatly appreciate someones time and coming over and checking out my bike. Thanks. BTW I have a 95 S2 Thunderbolt with a bunch of mods.

I recently moved to Northern Az. The shop up here doesn't seem to care much about Buells. The next time I'm in Phx I'd like to hook up with a shop there. Any recommendations on which shop I should visit? (I'd also like to check out a TT. Which shop carries a good inventory of new bikes?)

I have an S2 but not sure I can be of much help as I live up north. I wouldn't mind getting together with some other tubers for a ride someday.

Where at? I'm in Prescott. I can't say as I know much about the older bikes but I've got an XB strung all over my garage right now : ).

You're spot on with the shop up here. The one up near Flagstaff isn't too bad.

i don't ride on the street anymore but a couple of us are going to the track this weekend if you'd like to stop by and visit,or there still time to sign up if into trackdays.there's a good online active club out of phoenix if you looking to do rides and alot of them head north,it's www.southwestrides.com
if you looking for a store with a good buell inventory try arrowhead harley in peoria.i work there as a service advisor and i think we've got about 15 or so last i looked.i know there's at least one tt sitting on the floor.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try and stop by Arrowhead when I'm in Phx later this week. I'd really like to see a TT.

James,
Wycked was working there at the time of his crash a few years back.
Shame the pay is so low, it would be a good job for someone who was retired though, and didn't have to worry about paying bills. ;)

Youse guys need to wake up over there! I hear the weather is finally breaking back into the double digits!
Time to blow the dust off them bikes and get out for a ride!

Howdy fellas,
Noob to the area...just in from Panama City, FL. Headed back to ATL to pickup the truck and XB. Looks like plenty of good riding weather here. Sure would like to get in on some of that testing...but I agree, pay isn't enough to live. Shame. Anyway, just saying hello. Cheers!

Modern Solutions is looking for riders in the west valley to ride Victory motorcycles also. The Victory's are at the Volvo test facility in Whittman, Harley is in Mesa or AJ, I forget which. They are always looking for people to drive Toyotas also.

I worked for the them for a while, nice company. Just didn't like working nights. I hear the motorcycles jobs are all day jobs.

Don,
time for you to get a second bike! I've got an S3 for sale! LOL

Last I heard, most of the guys on the "other" AZ thread weren't riding on the street anymore, too many tickets and crashes. Just doing track days now.
Not to mention, they switched to "other" brands. (I'm sure this comment will illicit a few "smart" remarks!)

97S1,
sorry I missed your post a few months back about wanting some help with your S2. I've got 3 S2's and know them pretty well. I'll be in town in November, if you'd like we can get together then, and go over your bike.

2004 rc51 80 mph lowside at track...totaled;)

2006 r6 sold to purchase tranny for car

2005 drz 400sm sold to make profit

2007 salvaged gsxr 600 it has 2000 miles and it really needed nothing. Im currently riding this and it is a nice ride.

I dont know anything about the ticket and crash comment as Andrew is the only one that stopped riding on the street and he still rides on the street just no more rides.
I still hear from most of the guys.
What can I say the japanese make a damn fine bike: )

ok big help needed. Any1 in tucson or in phx plzzzzz. ill try to make it short. 06 12s put the pro taper carmichle bars on and bike ran like crap. I am at 900 miles so i figured must be tps reset, so took to dealer. They said bars are causing the problem. 1st issue is the locater tab that i cut off on the throttle side housing, they said because the housing has to be tightned so tite that the cables bind inside. ok understandable so i said i would buy a new housing and drill a locater hole, they call me back. said still wont work because the bars are still causing the cables to kink so only solution is to go back to stock. Well i just sold my stock stuff so they want $270 to do everything with parts. I know people are running this bar, what am i doing wrong? I really dont want to spend that to just go back to stock. Plus dealer will have my bike for a week because of course they dont have the parts.

hmm, I've cut the locator tabs off of almost all my Buells just so I could rotate the control housing to a more comfortable position. I've never had any problems like you describe.
I have a set of controls from a late model tuber, they look identical to what's on my city-x. I'm not sure if they will work on your 12S, but if you want them we can work a deal.

i already orded a new control set and handle bar. Im with you, ive almost always gotten rid of the tab with no problems, i think the dealership is just being a dealership and doesnt want to deal with any "aftermarket" parts. I feel they really just dont want to try to make it work. So i think after i cool down and make sure my bike still doesnt have a problem with the stock bars on it, im goin to try again, i have a bad idea that it has to do with the torque grips i put on (not cuttin out the center enough). Oh well im just pissed that i feel the dealer doesnt want to help a buell out.

which dealership have you been going to?
I've had problems with Chandler in the old days before they moved into their new store, and always had problems with Hacienda.
Arrowhead in Peoria always treated me well, but I think the old service manager, Floyd retired. So I don't know how that dealership is anymore.
I agree though, cool down a bit, have a beer or two, and then go out and take another look at it.
Look at everything that could be causing it to bind. You'll find the problem, just be patient. Try to look at everything, from the grips, to the inside of the throttle housing, the cables and down to where they connect to the throttle body.

IIRC Everyone is running the CR Low and still have to re-route the cables to keep from kinking them. Your Carmichael bends are 77.2mm high and the CR Low is 71mm. With the wider spread from grip to grip then the stock bars, the cables probably are getting kinked at the housing just from being pulled so tight. Even the Crossroads which sit lower then the stock bars but have a wider spread have to have the cables re routed, I just can't remember off the top of my head how the routing goes.

Now that you mention it Wyckyd,
I remember when Kelly installed the crossroads on his cityX he drilled a hole on the left side right above the ignition for clutch cable routing.

I helped Kelly with his install as I already had done this on my 12s. You have to get creative when doing this as it does kink if you try to mount it oem style. The drill is wherever you think it will bind the least which is about the middle above the ignition as Bart mentioned. Dont hesitate to over drill the hole as it will allow the cable some flex room. Try this and let us know: )

Sorry I haven't been around lately Bart...too much stuff going on at the moment. Lots of stress and no time to ride makes Brian an unhappy camper. My bike is going back on the market here shortly...it's unfortunate but it's time to let her go.

I don't post as near as much as I used to, but I still lurk. This thread certainly ain't what it used to be. I hope all is well with the rest of y'all. Take care.
