Sparky-

Don't know what GS BRAG is planning, but Big Bear would be good. There's even a friendly Rib place (Firehouse Ribs) James, Loli and I were at a couple of weeks ago that would LOVE to have a ton of Buellers there for lunch. I talked to the guy and he wants 3 days' notice.

Just an idea.

Saro, Sparky... sounds cool! Be kind of a good liaison - compare notes with other Buellers, maybe even talk over some future plans/thoughts.

I'll forward this to Tim and Candice. We have been getting the bikes prepped for the track on Monday (Willow Springs - Yee HA!) - don't think Tim and Candice check here too regularly so I'll let them know whazzup

Last I heard the plan was to do Big Bear / Rim of the World In August - we were bouncing that around a while ago. I missed the SCAB meeting, but Tat sent me an email this morning asking about the ride. As it stands the we don't have any official plans to do the 22nd. By all means the folks who can go should go! We are still doing our "official" Golden State ride the 29th through Elizabeth/Boquet/Lunch/ etc..

Saro/James - see!? - this is how I screw your schedules up.

ARGGH!

The Golden State BRAG Last-Sunday-of-the-Month ride means it happens on the Last-Sunday-of-the-Month (29th) There's no conflict with the Big Bear run on 22nd. (I gotta learn how to use a calendar)

Sounds like 2 good runs

missed the last SCAB meeting, so I dont know what was discussed WRT getting to LS.

What are the plans for heading up? Was everyone doing it in one day (i.e. Friday) from Socal, or anyone doing it in two days with a less direct route? Ebear, you riding up or trailering in JJs love shack? Ferris, when you heading up?

Al,

Jerry wants to do the same schedule/scenic ride as last year:
Leave Wednesday July 9 from Oceanside around 9 am. Stop at Bartels, leave there at 11.
Stop for breakfast at Mike's Topanga Grill.
Stop at Camarillo/Ventura HD/B, leave there at 1 pm.
Stop at motel in Buellton.
On Thursday ride up Hwy 1 to Laguna.

I'll post ride/route details as time nears.

Speaking of Jerry, he's no longhair longer in sales at HHOH but is now at a Ford dealer.

I'll do that ride. That sounds just right. Who's going that you're aware of? You guys already got reservations in Buellton? Anyone need a roomie? It's tough to find rooms along the coast in July without advanced reservations, so I should get right on it.

I hadn't heard about Jerry leaving HHoH. Something written above said something about Jerry's Yamaha biting it on the last BRAG ride, that didn't sound right at all, Jerry on a Yammie...did he dump his buell for a Yamaha? What'd he get?

Ferris, when you heading up?

wayle, i'll prolly NOT duplicate my Laguna itinerary from last year...

...which entailed an exceedingly leisurely launch from Sacto on Saturday morning, and an equally leisurely (and damn enjoyable) ride east on 80 and south on Highway 49. As the day wore on myself and my riding partner found us getting not an inch closer to Laguna, but we couldn't stop giggling nonetheless.

at a water stop somewhere on one of 49's many enjoyable corners (wherein my partner and i took turns dumping ice-cold Crystal Geyser all over each other in a vain yet stimulating attempt to shed some California heat), an amused bystander asked where we were headed on such a fine afternoon.

"Laguna Seca!", we exclaimed.

"Huh? Well WTF are you guys doing HERE?" he asked, justifiably puzzled at our bassackward navigational ways.

we had to agree with our new friend, and promptly hung a hard right and headed due west towards the coast, arriving in downtown Monterey at dusk, wherein we promptly mixed a couple of hard pops and dove straight into the hot tub. it's tough being a biker these days, doncha know.

that said, looks like we'll be launching from the Lake Isabella area bright and early Friday morning. would love to leave earlier, but gotta cram in as much work as possible to help pay for our evil ways.

unsure of route, but a person could do worse than taking 58 west from Bakersfield straight to the big water, then aiming north and ripping Highway 1 The Ultimate 1 a new backside, eh???

ride to tan,

Ferris,

Ya wanna have a couple tag-alongs? Your Friday start sounds about right.

Tim and Candice are talking about heading out Friday AM. Might just work out. Saro and James had also expressed some interest.

Ferris,

Yeah! 'S-gonna be a hot time. Still recruiting some troops for a ride up that way. I am probably going to camp out or stay with friends in Monterey. The guy that overhauls my underwater camera gear is in Monterey also and if I get through the area early, might stop in and say howdy - otherwise keep on rollin' Having a bedroll in the Summertime means I can be a vagrant for a weekend.

Ferris, (and others)

I may bow out of the run to Laguna. That is the last weekend for me to get the track bike ready for Willow on the following weekend. I still have a lot of stuff to do to get it ready for tech and it's going into the shop for work next week so I'll lose some more time. Weekends are going to be a touch crowded between now and Willow so I must bow out. I also have to move by the end of the month. Time's a tad tight.

Tim and Candice are going - as well as a number of others. I'm just afraid that I'm not going to have the Bolt all prepped before leaving for the Laguna weekend and if I don't, I'll have my panties in a bunch all weekend.

Howdy all,

Just to let you know the SoCal Sportster and Bay Area Sportster folks are getting together at Songdog Ranch in New Cuyama, Ca next Saturday (the 28th). Songdog will be doing a BBQ for us.

Mostly Sportsters, some Buells of course and the occasional Dyna and whatnot. We'll do some fun riding on Cerro / Lockwood Valley / 33 as well.

If any of you are interested ping me. We've got room for a few more.

Next item, Ferris, on this Laguna deal-e-o, I take it one should've booked accommodations quite some time ago? I'd sure like to get up there for a day if possible.

PS. US 1 is a great ride, but I'm guessing they know you'll be coming. Along with a bunch of other bikes.

Ferris,

I'll let Tim and Candice know. Don't know if they want to power-ride up and watch some of the Friday action or make a day of it and enjoy the ride.

I'll forward your info their way.
