Hello all,
Sometime in Mid August we have an opportunity to honor one of our countries warriors. I have a friend whose son is returning from his first tour in Iraq. He is not a rider (Yet) but would be truly honored by a motorcycle escort from DIA to his home here in the springs. There should be a bunch of different bikes there. It's likely there will be several Harleys but I'd love to have a bunch of Buells out front. If your interested, please leave a note here or PM me. Also my email address is dlaubscher2000@netscape.net.

I'll look into if I can make this. What branch is your son?

Dave, let us know when you have the date. Lynn and I may go. This might be something the VFW Warriors might like to participate in as well.

Do you have an update on your Cyclone?????

Hi all,
Just to clarify, it's my friends son not mine. I believe he's in The Marine Corps although it may be Army. I'll verify and let you know.
The VFW was contacted originally by my friends but they didn't receive an answer. When I heard that, I volunteered to gather some bikes and riders to honor their son. Since then, the VFW has replied and is planning on going. They gave them my email address so we can collaborate our efforts.
As for my Cyclone. Dealer is supposed to be picking it up today. With the races at Laguna Seca, they haven't had the time to go get it. I should know something in a day or so. I have a plane ticket for the 30th and plan to ride back on the 1st. If he's not done, I can work from our main office in Hayward and leave a week later. I'll post an update when I have more info.
Thanks in advance to any and all who will be riding. Looks like 26th to the 29th of August is the time frame.
Dave

M2 update.
Well, I'll not be making the ride this August. I just got off the phone with the dealer in Salinas, Ca. regarding my Cyclone. Tranny is shot. Main bearings at least. $2k is estimate for them to fix it. I'm going to have it towed to my daughters place there but now I don't know what I'm going to do with it. Might just sell it out there. This sucks!

Hi Frank, Yes, there is a very real possibility that I'll bring it back. Just have to figure out how. Renting a truck is $841 one way. I'll have to borrow my son's jeep with a tow package, find a trailer and drive out then drive back. It'll take a week and 4-6 hundred for gas. An employee at the dealership just offered me 1K for it. I don't think I should take less than 2K though so I said no. I love my M2 but right now for 2K, I'd learn to love again.....

Dave, wise move. Don't take 1K for it. Sounds like someone is looking for a donor bike for a chopper.

The tranny on the tuber frame Buells is relatively easy. The main bearings on the other hand may require a little more work if the cases need to be split. You could always take it to Dan (Buelliedan) at NRHS here in CO.

I do not know if I would trust anyone else to do that kind of work.

Frank,
Wow, their site says $97.50 plus parts for a trany rebuild. Dealer said $2K plus parts. Major disparity. Thanks for the tip.

Dave, I am working a deal to part out my old Sporty (1992). If that is the case I will have a spare tranny. I am not sure if there will be fitment issues or not. I will keep you informed.

Does anyone have experience with ECMSpy. I made the cable, downloaded the software and would like someone to show me the ends and outs before I screw up my bike.

Julie, thanks, I had a problem getting the laptop to talk to the bike last night. I need to read a little more in order to get it to work I guess..... I really have not had a lot of time to play with it. But it is nice to know that Dan has that knowledge. I may be calling him soon.
