I was going to try to do the 5K service myself, but I wrecked my Buell before I had the chance.

Sparropie: Yeah, I'm on S Sheridan Ave between S 12th & S 13th. Just South of Safeway.

The Escalade driver did not have current proof of insurance at time of accident and was cited for it along with the improper turn. My lawyer indicated that they have made contact with his current company and it looks like he has coverage, but I'm not certain of that yet.

I would like to join you for the IMS. Hopefully I'll have a job by then and can afford it. I'm sure my wife would love to go, too.

Splatsc300: Yup, I remember and look forward to riding with you, Sparropie and everybody else. I'm going crazy with this nice weather and no bike. Just figured I'd post here about my wreck since I hadn't done so yet.

Bob,

Here's pictures:
http://picasaweb.google.com/pauledwards/20071025Bu ellWreck

Damaged front fairing
Right mirror broken
Left mirror broken off
Magnesium fairing support bracket broken in multiple places
One or both triple clamps damaged
Possibly damaged frame where clamps attach
Both forks bent
Front fender and chin fairing likely damaged
Scratched rear cylinder exhaust pipe
Both foot pegs on right side broken off
Scratched upper tail body work
Swingarm scratched on both sides underneath axle
All blinkers broken except the left rear

Oh, and it won't start, but actually I just now realized that is likely due to the tilt sensor. I thought this bike didn't have a tilt sensor because once it fell over onto me and kept running, but I see in my service manual that the bike does have a tilt sensor.

It's currently at Destination H-D in Fife. They will be doing another estimate.

Thank you for your gracious offer for assistance.
How do you propose to help?

BobNuts is the real deal when it comes to helpin' out a fellow rider. He's pulled my bike out of the dump many times with his garage full of tools, welders, and know-how.
Lets see what Desperation HD comes up with for damages that really effect rideability.

sooner than you might think, Galen

Yes, I'll wait and see what "Desperation" says about the bike... But in the mean time, I do actually need the services of a welder for my car...

My friend Rob and I think it has a bad cat which is clogging the pipes and causing too much back-pressure, killing performance and melting EGR components.
I'd like to just gut the cat and weld it back up.

Open to helping out?
Shouldn't take long at all.

I am bummed to announce that our staff Xmas party is the same weekend as IMS. Which wouldn't be a choice except that my sweetheart still is advised not to be crossing the border while she's off on sick leave. So I'll have to hope for a Daytona party that we may be able to get in on this year to get liquoured up with you bunch of reprobates.

And Bob: Hooses are never done.

Back from 3 weeks in Turkey. It was swell. Food was great. Sites from 3000 years ago. No motorcycles over 125cc. Of course, gas is $8.00 a gallon or more ($7 of which is federal tax).
Settled back down to retired life in the woods. Had a yearling bear visit the other night. Drove the dogs wild. Probably came for the free apples.
Finished a pow-wow drum. Starting a new Taiko drum now. Made from used white oak flooring. And elk hide.
Watching Opra the other day (something retired folks can afford to do), Dr. Oz, who talks about healthy, lifestyles to live to 100 or more, said that sex is good for both male and female participants, but once you get over 720 times a year, the benefits are reduced. So, I guess we'll need to take a break from, say, Christmas to New Years, hunh Bob?
Looking at the Piaggio 500ie three wheeled scooter for my next bike, but word has it that they will unveil at the Milan Bike Week this weekend a new production hybrid MP3 for second half 2008 distribution with 140 MPG and way better pickup from a stop than their current gas only bikes.
Green r us.

ShotGun, no wonder we haven't seen ya around here lately. I'm jealous of all you #$%*&*& who figured out how this 'Life on Earth' stuff works. I will be sleeping on a park bench I am sure in my 'Golden Years'.
On another note, I have procured some Durban-Dank tomato seeds for propagation this spring in Oregonia. Sort of a cross-cultural exchange kind a thing, I am told. In return Durban's minions will receive a shipment of wind-up, portable lap-top computers to be used for in-depth analysis of fish migration up the Boziwta river. There hasen't been a confirmed sighting in over 35 years, and the run is presumed extinct. This, however, will not deter the Gates foundation from donating extensive soft-ware in a language the natives can not interpret, designed to preform functions they can not understand, let alone conceptualize...
Hope to see ya befor planting season!

sooner, Galen

Great pic!

Ya know, funny thing... My car seems mostly fine now. Has probably about 95% of its former power back and none of the issues it was having when we were talking... Not sure what's going on with it, but I suspect bad gasoline.
I've switched from Costco premium to Shell premium for now and it seems fine. I think I'll check the PCM codes tomorrow to see if anything new has popped up.
Regardless, I'm swapping in a built turbo motor ASAP. Buying it at EOM.

Last night was when I filled up with Shell gas and this morning my car is performing even better than yesterday. I'd say it's likely at or above 100% of what I'm used to.
Guess it's brand-name gas for me from now on.

Deb's laying on the couch with her foot up and can't wait to see everyone.

I need a two wheel fix! Fired up the trumpet the other day and went out and spun the rear wheel a little.

Busier than a sportin gal on nickle night.

Insurance company called me this morning about the bike... Estimate is $5,168.01. The check is on its way to me in the mail.
Once Destination gets the money, they can order parts and once parts arrive it should be less than 1 week to fix.

Church yesterday was beautiful. Cloudy but dry, around say 42 F.[ Here is the conversion equasion for my friends up North-- F = [ C x 1.8] + 32, but I degress.] I bundled my ass up and took the locks off of Betty [3]. I adjusted the clutch [new clutch handle] and hit some curves. The freeway half-cloverleaf that heads up to and away from Bob's house is great warm-up matiereal. Really big, fast sweepers ( I wrecked there a couple years ago. Bob and Deb saved me that day...). Then went along the salty-water way to a short and challenging (right next to the Tacoma p.d.'s shooting range...) set of curves on an old, fairly steep [by todays standards] snake of a road, only to find -pause- IT HAD BEEN REPAVED! Smooth and black, with all of it's personality INTACT! The turns are deeply sloped so you can really push when yer commin' out of the corners. I never thought about how fast it is untill now; you sure don't have any time to be lookin' at any dials. Mabey 50 mph ( I don't know the conversion from mph to K...) on the little straights, but some of the corners feel fast at 15. Great little practice road for a couple of runs, other than the verticle drop to the sea right at the roads edge. Since the cops all were wearing their sound proofing headsets I was able to putt right by them like a perfect citizen, they blissfuly unawares of the Hooligan Ruckus that was occuring as they prepared for The Big One.

My bike loves the cold. Betty is liftin' the front when I'm shifting and as I get on it commin' out of the corners. I've gotten a little wobble a couple a times when it sets down. It is complete Nirvana when I land it right. But I can only imagine what a really powerful bike is like. You guys with that horsepower advantage [ FunJimmy, Bob & Deb...I guess everyone not on a Buell ] must have some serious throttle-control!

So I rode around for about 3 hrs, going up and down, left and right. I tried all of the options available befor I headed home. And as I was screchin' along a little over the 120 mark commin' back into Tacoma, I thought how blessed I am to get to do this, how this is when I am really alive. I am in the World, not in a cage. I feel the wind and the rain. I smell the waterfalls and the treatment plant. And if I don't pay attention to the Direction I am heading, I could drive off the Edge and into Oblivion...

JESUS DIED
SO WE COULD RIDE
