They still stink in my book.
The way the Georgia QB was flinging that ball around my 9 year old daughter could have intercepted.
Has it really come down to getting excited over them beating one of the worst teams in the league ? Sad days indeed.
I have sworn allegiance to Boston College (at least until they screw the pooch).

Jackie,
I think they are improving every week.Your not going to have a great team every year. Beamer is moving them in the right direction. When the season starts, you got what you got and you have to go from there.
Having coached yourself, you should know that you don't always wind up with the cream of the crop. It's what you do with what your dealt that shows what your made of.
I don't believe for a second that your that fickle to jump from one team to another.I know you got a Phoenix spirit in your gut.Come on Jackie, I can't pull this wagon by myself.Charlie

I took my 8yo nephew out for a quick spin a couple weeks ago.

I still have every intention of spending the better part of a day at a park about 45min from here(one day).

Nuts,
Last I heard you where in Fla. I got to Roanoke on Friday evening, got up at the crack of dawn. Had breakfast at the North Star, sped to Roanoke to take care of some personal business. Spent about ten minutes at RVHD& Buell talking to Zack, Seth,Travis and a few others. Was good to see all of them again.(I miss that a lot)
Then back to Buchanan to be with the people that invited me to stay at their house. Up at the crack of dawn on Sunday, breakfast at North Star, on the road to SC....Charlie

PS...Did I mention I ate at the North Star?

Charlie,
In my legendary 7 year coaching career my worst record was 9W-3L. All the other seasons were either undefeated or one loss.
I take 8-10 year old girls and transform them into elite fighting machines. The finest warriors the world has ever known. Taught never to retreat, never to surrender. That death on the battlefield was the greatest honor of all. Forged in the fires of hell, quenched in the coldest waters from the very bowels of the Earth, they emerge as hardened steel awaiting battle with uncontrollable anticipation and a lust for carnage and destruction of all who stand in their way. Course' then again it could be the hamburger cookouts, weeny roasts, sack races and slurpy days that make them bend to my will .
Three of my girls that I have worked with since they were 6 started their jr. high career this fall and beat out 22 other girls for starting spots on 1st, 2nd and shortstop. They then led their team to an undefeated championship. Makes me proud!!!

Beamer has lost his edge during the last few years and has really let me down. I was a diehard VT fan but it looks as though their glory days are over for the next 2-3 years. They will be losing two of their best next year and the up and coming players haven't shown much promise in filling those shoes.
Sorry to let ya' down but I'm a Beantown fan for the rest of the year.

Sorry to hear your turning your back on VT, they will just have to struggle without your support.
I know your proud of your girls(lean mean fighting machines)but your not going to be real popular with their future spouses when the time comes.....Charlie

Charlie,
Be safe and have fun! You know what I always say? If you can't have a well travelled bike at least you can have a pair of well travelled gloves .
I surely wouldn't mind a Wolf but sadly Va. has banned them as well as dog/wolf hybrids.
I guess you will just have to stuff a Moose in the back seat for me. Try not to eat him on the way back down!

I think we are hitting the woods again Monday since the rut is in full swing. Hopefully more pics that night !

Way to go Nuts, maybe Jackie will let you have a crack at one with a hat rack on monday. Then you can spend all that motorcycle money getting it mounted. You will have found a whole new way to spend your money.
Keep up the good work guys, just two more of those rascals I don't chance hitting on the hiway.............Charlie

Charlie,
Nuts says he wouldn't have one like I shot mounted.
If he does get one and starts talking about having it mounted then I am going to take a rock and break off one of the antlers to help him stick to his decision .

Thanks for the kind words fellas, I even surprise myself sometimes. Iron sights on the muzzleloader with a nut behind the stock is a deadly combination! I thought Jackie was gonna burst with joy upon arrival.

All geared up and awaiting the ....

Muzzleloader, isn't that where you pull the trigger and then follow the deer till the flame actually comes out the end of the barrel?Or if your shooting at a herd, you pull the trigger and then pick out the one you want to hit. From the deers perspective, when he hear the hammer fall............he steps behind the tree.Hard way to get a meal......Charlie

The muzzleloader could be considered the kickstand of the hunting world: reliable to most-troublesome for a few. I can assure you; the moment between squeezing the trigger and the instant the smoke clears generates one massive pause in the heartbeat sequence!NUTS

Charlie,
Nuts is one of those "gotta learn the hard way" type fellas'.
I told him to clean the barrel between each shot when sighting in the muzzleloader but does he do it? No! He sights it in and then forces a load down the barrel to go hunting. Since he didn't get a shot that day he goes home and tries to push the bullet and powder out of the barrel with little success.
What does he do? He sticks the ramrod down the barrel and starts whacking it with a hammer! Then he decides to try and push it back up the barrel from the breech end. Long story short he ends up breaking the ramrod off inside the barrel !
This kid is something else. I try to teach him the best I can but he is like a mischevious child who just looks at you with that blank expression which leaves you wondering if anything you are telling him is sinking in.
I bet his dad had his hands full raising him up .

Guys,
I had to share this one with you.
Today was me and my youngest daughters' first deer hunt together. I was the trigger man but she displayed excellent woodsmanship in finding a likely ambush spot for us.
If it wasn't for her saying that the spot I picked wasn't very good we never would have gotten a deer.
She was a monster milk doe and should provide us with months of tasty vittles.
If ya'll can't tell this is one of the greatest days of my life!!
Next season I can guarantee she will be carying her own little H&R rifle chambered in .243

Way to go Jackie,Finally got you a hunting partner you can train to be as stealth as the master.
But do you think Nuts has learned enough to be let out on his own?Or will the wildlife population turn on him as he prowls the forests. We will await future progress reports on the Nutster in the wild.
By the way did he trade in his wooden ram rod for the more sturdy stainless steel model?....Charlie

Wooden? That dude broke off an aluminum ramrod in the barrel .
I think Nuts has reached a point in his hunting career where he will do well on his own. We have spent much more time this season hunting seperately and I think he enjoys trying his own techniques and learning from his successes and mistakes.
Since my deer season is over now I will be targeting squirrel and predators whilst Nuts chases (and hopefully bags) the Grey Ghost.
The daughters are out of school all next week for Thanksgiving break and the youngest now wants to try to call in a fox or bobcat. Looks like we will be sitting up in the woods a few evenings next week to see if we can't make that happen!

So, where is my moose ?

Jackie,
Do you know how hard it is to get " Bullwinkle" thru security at the airport? After being shoved in a side room and physically frisked, the moose was out of the question.I said haven't you guys ever seen a pair of "Bib Overhauls" before, I thought I was going to have to leave them there.
I didn't ask but I'll bet I could have brought you all the "Canadian Geese" you wanted. You can't walk down the street without having to kick them out of the way.All the sidewalks and playgrounds are covered in goose poop, it's a real mess.
I'm afraid to ask, but what is the "Grey Ghost"that eludes Bawanna? Is this something he might mount on his wall? Do you have a picture of this elusive creature, please let us see what has captured the Nut's waking moments....
