Scott, ya I can prob do that. Meet you guys at the Baltimore dealer at 11:00 a.m.and work our way down to Old Glory. I dont know any back roads. I guess I can look at a map and get a few ideas. Or we can just take the freeway just to get down to festivities faster.
K, 8:30 is a little early BUT I will see you when I get down there!

I would love to take the ride on the 27th but friends decided to use that day to get married. Don't count me out for future rides.

Do these bikes have a problem with plugs fouling? I was taking 2 rides a day for under 10 minutes each for a week and was being told that the bike runs rich for the first few minutes and didn't run lean to burn off the excess so now it doesn't start.

Anyone?

Puc, there is a history of fouling plugs based on a couple of 'issues'..

One the 'start and ride' type. If there is no time for the motor to heat up it before it's shut down again, it tends to leave deposits. Once in a while is no big deal since a few good runs and it should be fine, but repeatedly doing it will foul the plugs.

Using too cold a plug (which I doubt you are doing).

The other cause could be lousy gas, but pretty much everything in our area should burn clean enough to not leave a lot of sludge.

Based on what you said, if you started the bike, ran it for 10 minutes, then parked it. Then repeated this several times a week, that probably is what did it. Replace the plugs and either let the motor run for a while before you ride it such a short distance (get some heat going) or take the scenic route and give the engine time to heat up and burn off the crap before it cools and fouls your plugs.

No, I'm not a mechanic and I don't play one on TV.. Just some stuff I'm parroting from others that know more then I do.

Hey Blublak,

Thanks for the info. Using the stock plugs, it has 3500miles on it, the shorty trips was probably it. I hope to have it back from Baltimore H/D this week. I might have to pick it up about the same time some of you are pushing of for points south.

Yeah, I know, I'm in weather denial. I freakin' hate riding in the rain.

Forecasters have been wrong all summer. I can't tell you how many times I did not ride this year because the forecast called for rain. It'll be hard to miss this system though.

Steve,

My group's meeting at Frederick HD between 9:30-10 am on Sat.

As of right now I do not have any stops planned. If we do stop however, it will be at the gas station off the Tridelphia Mill road circle (just on the other side of rt. 32) I figure we should be passing by there somewhere between 1045 and 11.

If road conditions are not favorable, I will take out all of the twisty roads in Frederick from the route - just to keep it safe - I just want us all to make it there in one piece.

I'll be on the Yellow XB9S Saturday if the roads are wet.

I think the roads will at least be damp..

However, the last report I saw (from the Weather Channel) says we should have a cool, dry(er) day. If it comes down on us, I'm not sure I'll ride, since Sunday I need the bike to be kind of clean so I can pass tech easily at Summit Point.

Right now though, it looks like I'll be in the Wegmans parking lot from about 0930 (or so) and pulling out with whomever shows up at 1000 on our way to Ole' Glory.. No matter what, it should be a good time!

Does anyone leaving from the Dulles (more or less) area have any questions about the departure point? If so, post up and I'll try and give more detailed directions from wherever you are.

I look forward to meeting some of you folks in person!

If the weather cooperates I might meet up with you all; the Frederick group that is. If you guys follow the planned route, I literally am 5 minutes away once you get to Gillis Falls. If I could meet up with you all around there or something that would be great. You wouldn't need to stop or anything, I could just fall in behind the pack. I PMed twintour to see what his plans were since he is fairly close to where I live as well. Please keep me posted. Thanks.
