I think a Battle Trax is a must have. they have a descent parking lot on the side for it.

I also like the Wheelie-Bolt they had at Williamsport.

For those of you reading this:

Old Glory HD is in the process of setting up their Buell bikes and product line up for their Buell Shoot Out which will be their first official Buell event.

This dealership has the potential to be the area's one-stop shop for all things Buell. I am interested in knowing what you would like to see (or not see) there (products, services etc.) to pass it on.

For one, I'd like to see HD dealerships offer more "street gear": armor, real boots, back protectors - you get the idea.

While Harley riders generally go with the "less is more" attitude when it comes to riding apparel, it has been my experience the Buell owners tend to be more safety conscious. Why should we go to Bob BMW, or Criswell to purchase these items?

FYI
Scott from Baltimore HD/Buell is no longer there. Dropped the bike off this morning for warranty work. Got a call from the service department wanting to know what they are to do to my bike. I asked if Scott was there because he knew what was going on with the work being done. The gentleman on the other end of the phone says Scott has moved on.Now the gentleman needs to find out what is going on with my warranty work. Which probably means it might not get done today. Which was promised to me by Scott. What a F@#king fiasco. The only good thing I have gotten out of this store is the two Buells I have owned. They hardly stock or place on the shelves the simplest of parts and accessories. Their Buell clothing line is non existent. And with Gettysburg HD dropping Buell, it is getting harder to appreciate the finer things of owning a Buell. The only reason I mentioned Gettysburg HD is because it is closer to my home. The Baltimore store is closer to my work.

All the Gettysburg Buell products were purchased by OGHD. They should be out on the shelves for the Shoot Out. I'll find out more tonight.

BTW, I am not employed by OGHD, just an owner trying to help a dealer be "Buell friendly". I do hope to be a Rider's Edge instructor there next year.

I like the Frederick dealer. They seem pretty good to me and they are trying to get more Buell stuff in stock and out on the floor.

Frederick has a great shop, that's where I go for my warranty service - and to BS with Ratbuell whenever I get a chance.

Good shop, great employees and they are definitely pro Buell Racing which is always good. They could have more Buell clothing and parts.

Chrisb,
no Buell techs that I know of at Old Glory yet. I've had a rear tire put on for my XB just recently. I get both of my bikes serviced at HD Store Pulaski HWY. I would order the fan and then when it comes into the shop bring the bike in. I've learned long ago to order parts first then bring in the bike, otherwise your bike will sit at the shop for a while.
They have a Buell Tech with a degree in bike mechanics at Annapolis his name is Rob, and he mainly works on the Buell Blasts. He would be the ONLY one to touch my bike there! They are really expensive and I lived thru a nightmare there having my X1 serviced, they'll never see it again If you go to The HD Store talk to RJ Buellsyter bad web I'm sure he'll point you to the right person.

The Old Glory Buell Shoot out event, Just like Ras I'm not an employee either just trying to help out. I do want to try and lay a Battle Trax down, it all depends on the insurance they can provide for it, cross your fingers! Any other ideas from you all, I know I should have asked yesterday! Some of the things I have been thinking about:
Have Tracy Martin of Total Control come out and do an in-depth talk on suspension, set up to the rider's weight.
Workshops on gadgets; GPS, Blue tooth on bikes
Group riding by Rider's Edge
any suggestions? K

I moved on ?

I'm still around just not at HDB. After 13 years in the H-D field I finally got my first Dear John letter form an employer. I'm looking for a Buell dealer that's hiring. I stopped by OGHD and spoke with the program director but little was exchanged. I'm still in college so it may a challenge to find employment in the Buell field right now with the limited time. I hope to make it out to more rides now that I can work less then 60+ hours (and only get pay for 40). see you all on the road and in here.

WHAT?...you don't work at HDB...that sucks !!...I hope you find work, Scott. To be honest, other then you, I didn't have much interest in the rest of them over there. Are they still going to sell and repair Buells??

It's going to be a great weekend. Give me a shout if you want to ride.

Ah, are you referring to me?...lol. The person I would recommend, Scott, has left !! As far as the mechanics are concerned, Scott always handled that and I haven't a clue who works on Buells over there. I do feel as though I wont be getting the same high level of attention I've grown accustomed to but I'll give them a chance.

BTW, you might want to contact Regkittrelle about setting up a Battletrax course. There was a thread about it some time back and apparently there is a lot more involved then meets the eye. Furthermore, he has a trademark for "Battletrax".

OGHD has two techs currently assigned to work on Buells (Rob and Emily).

Like Babired said, get the parts first then schedule service.

The date for the Buell Shoot Out is set for October 27th. There is another name for it, but it escapes me right now. I'm trying to coordinate rides to the Shoot Out from different parts of our area, it would make a fun end of season ride for those out there who actually put their bike up after the summer season, and give you Hooligans an opportunity get together.

These guys are serious about supporting Buells and if things go as planned it's going be worth attending. Their new Buell Dealer shirts are hot off the press (literally) and will hopefully be available tomorrow. I believe their Buell gear and accessories will be out on the shelves in time for this event.

Scott, I recommend talking with Brad Jordan, he should be able to help you out.

PM me your info, I'll see what I can do to get you in touch with the right people there.

The bike is still under warranty. Something tells me a fan is not a stocked item at the dealer and the round trip in my truck to drop the bike off for two weeks for them to "determine the problem and order the parts" isnt worth the gas & hassle. I'll fix it myself.

RJ, sorry I thought you worked at HDB I know Reg owns trademark, in 2002 I trained with him in Lousiania and became Battle master back then. I have Battle Trax Battle Master manual to prove it! I'm finally getting a sponsor who will do this! Regular Battle Trax event costs $500.00 to $2,500. Old Battle Trax web site is gone, but if you want to get in touch with the PA Battle Master Mike just plug in PA Battle Trax and you will get his information.K

Did someone say ride. The best ride on the east coast is next weekend and it now happens twice a year. march and october ,hosted by the 3%ers of ga. So put your laptop away and blow the dust off your buell . If you have not been to the TWO wheel resort in the north ga. mtn.s , you have not rode your buell yet. What do you think Ramon,do you know anybody with a buell ?

I know a few...hard getting them out and riding though - we're all over the place.

I'll be heading out around 10 am if anyone's interested.

Sux, I won't be there next weekend, I'm sure you'll tell me all about it. MB V, is what I have to look forward to now.

Well, took the old beast out yesterday with (Tony - sorry man can't remember your BadWeb name) to make sure it was all systems go after spending an extended period of time in the shop. It was good to be back on the saddle. At first, everything seemed wrong, the idle the way the engine rattled, excessive vibration @ 2k - needless to say it was all in my head.

I finally have 45 or so mi. loop around Frederick/Mt Airy that has a good mix of curves and is relatively traffic free. Had a lot of fun and I'm sure some, if not all, of this route will be part of the Oct 27th ride to Old Glory HD.

On a down note, the front braking is awful at any speed above 45mph.

Ras - FWIW, the front brake checked out fine on the runout gauge. .007" out of allowable .017"; well within spec. If I had to guess, a new front tire would fix it : )

Glad to hear you had a good ride. At least somebody got to have fun in the weather yesterday, LOL.

Could it also be the pads? I have plenty -o- meat left on them.

When you say horrible, do you mean doesn't slow the bike, or has a wobble? If the pads are glazing you could lose some performance there. If you get bored, take 'em out and scuff 'em with some sandpaper and see if that helps. Also check your fluid level just to be safe. There's a couple good posts in the KV about bleeding tricks to get lever feel back...

They brake but with a serious wobble @45mph+. The good thing this is I've learned to ride without using my brakes as much - forced "Pace" if you will.

I'm using Lyndall Golds. The 900 has the same pads and they work just fine there. The good thing about the Lyndalls is that they keep the rotor nice and clean - unlike the stock pads.

Hey Ramon,
Don't know if you have tried this yet. Spray some Brakleen on a rag and wipe down the front rotor on both sides. There may be some kind of buildup in spots causing the brake pads to grab. Hope it helps.
