I'm sorry, I'm so madly in love with my Italian beauty that this is but a small price to pay to be with her. Should be so much more fun to ride with her running right afterward though. And with better fuel economy also, hmmmm. As if 45mpg wasn't good, it should be even better, it's running so rich that it's blowing black soot all over the underside of the seat and fairing.

Jeremy,

So does that repair come with lube (for you) or is that a "take it like man" kind of deal? I had a similar experience with my 916 with those guys when I was selling it and after talking to a few other dealers, wished I could get some second opinions. You may even remember that. Anyway, that's part of the reason I don't have it anymore... maintenance is too damn expensive. Especially if you can't do the labor yourself. Don't get me wrong, I loved my 916 and will probably own another Ducati someday. I'm keeping my eye on the 1098 for the next couple years to see what happens with it in case the Buell 1125 doesn't shape up.

As for Saturday, I'm still in for anything. Sounds like the Detroit lake route just may be o.k. I'm probably going to bring along someone else as well, so it looks like we will have a good turn out. No, he's not a Buell owner, but he may be able to be converted.

So far it's a take it like a man deal, but when the boss gets back from his trip I am going to talk to him, he takes care of me pretty well usually, maybe he can hook me up with a little bit of a discount on parts or something since I just bought it. My service manual should be here anytime now so I can do much work myself then. I vaguely remember you having issues as you were selling yours, wish I had the cash to have bought it when you sold it. AND the rumor mill is running on about a possible 1198 since I guess world superbike has authorized a 1200cc max for v twins, Duc is theoretically capitalizing on it. They might be running that as their 1098R bike, but that'll be super expensive, somewhere around the $35k mark, but that is still cheap compared to the Desmosedici RR Moto GP replica. Sorry I gotta go, drooling on myself just talking about it.

Ouch Jeremy! I don't know about anyone else but I don't think I am much for stunting. I am happy just to keep it between th lines. LOL

Riding to work this morning I realized how late it is starting to get light out side.
If there are no objections I think we should drag the depart time out from 7:30 to 8:00 at Gators this way.
This way riders showing up later then 7:00 still have time for some breakfast or more sleep.

I will still be there at 7:00 am but the depart time will now be 8:00 for this ride anyway.

Jeremy I am not sure where the place you are talking about is but hopefully your friend can make it with te extended depart time. Other option would be to meet him at Latus off of exit 11 on 205 at 8:15 -8:30. Its one exit away from 224.

Latus (or somewhere on 224) would make more sense for me, since I'm in the O.C. let me know if it's for sure and I'll be there

So to re-cap:

Latus HD - 8:15 am ( will leave promptly at 8:30)

sweet, I'll get the word out to my friends that might want to meet on that side of town. I'll probably show up for breakfast, and figure out from there what I'll do, if I decide to follow you guys out or just hang out at home for the day(Ewww, family...). Either way, see you in the morning.

Thanks for a great turn out today. We had 7 Buellers and one Kawi. I think this is a best to date as far as Buell riders.

Here some pics to entice the no shows..

I soooooooooo wanted to come this morning, but alas, my 2 wheeled motor driven device is still in pieces at the dealership. Or to put it another way, my Italian mistress is currently undergoing surgery. Not to mention I somehow slept through my alarm by 2.5 hours so I even missed breakfast.

I hope you guys had fun and I should be good to go next weekend... if the rain hasn't taken over the skies by then.

You actually had two more Buell'rs (on one bike) but we were about 5 hours late! I am from Central Oregon and my wife and I were over in Portland for the Keith Urban concert last night. We slept through your take-off time, and then went by Latus and watched the POW/MIA flag raising ceremony.

We had ridden over there Friday evening via Mount Hood, but thanks to your suggestions we drove back over 224. That ride was much more enjoyable! Thanks for the suggestion -- sorry we were late.

My brother didn't make this trip with me, but we both have Lightnings -- any other Central Oregon Buell'rs out there?

Hello Jimhaney, sorry to have missed you.

Yes 224 to 22 and over to Sisters/Bend is much nicer then Mt Hood. This has become my new route ever since a fellow Bueller showed it to me.

I have a mother-in law in K-Falls and my mom in Burns so every once in a while I make the trip.

That was a good ride. I'd like to do that route again for sure. Maybe try the Timothy Lake loop. Think I logged around 350 miles that day and Brady kept going after that! It was also cool to have so many Buell's show up. My friend Ricky said he felt a little out of place on his Kawi but had a good time anyway and sends his thanks for letting him come along. I'm pretty sure I'm out for the next couple weeks so won't get to do any good riding until October. My grandfather isn't doing so good so were going to visit and check on him next weekend and then I've got our anniversary and my sons 5th birthday the following weekend. I'll keep checking in here to see what I'm missing though.

Sorry I missed the Saturday ride - again!

Instead, rode around NorCal along favorite roads, Thu evening through last night. About 1540 miles including the 250 mile I-5 slab-blast home. Epic roads: CA36, CA1, CA96, and a couple local routes... these roads feature in Pashnit's NorCal tour (http://www.pashnittours.com/tour_1.html).

Weather's turning sour now, but if anyone's interested in a similar group ride next summer, I'll be going back to ride this loop on the XB instead of the Beemer.

Hey guys! (and Julie!),

Wish I had a few more Hours Saturday to keep making turns, sounds like there were more twisties in fornt of us! No worries on the Kawi Ricky, All are welcome, as long as they ride smart. I have to say I'm pleased that I not met a single squid in our group! I think thats a bit rare. If the weather holds I'm in for Saturday. Julie and Tony should be pleased we arent ridign the same damm roads everytime, so no more excuses! Any suggestions for Saturday? Post em in the Sat Ride section and I'll load them in the GPS.

Oh and Jason, You and I are going to do buisness on a bucket soon...

This coming saturday looks like the weather is going to be ok, a little chilly, but not bad, friday looks even better. IF I have my bike back by then I was going to try to set something up for either friday afternoon, or saturday morning. I was thinking skyline, rocky point road, germantown road, etc. Something up there anyway. Anyone who knows the area please feel free to suggest routes. I have a friend that lives at the top of rocky point, once skyline turns to gravel, but that's the extent of my knowledge up there. The open heart surgery of my Italian mistress continues, will keep you all updated as to her progress. As it is, we're just waiting for small parts from Italy to finish it, then a really big bill to be paid. If this ride/route sounds interesting, let me know, if not, I'm open to suggestions.

Anybody heard of a cracked airbox cover by over-torquing the bolt?

I got mine back from the HD service department and didn't notice it until I filled up...

I am trying to convince them that they did it when they did my service...

Sorry if I posted this to the wrong place -- I'm new here!

Hey Jim, Knowledge Vault would be a good place to look, but thanks for checking in here! Were allways looking for fellow Buellers in Oregon. A couple of us get out that way sometimes.

As far as the air box, there's a shim inside the bolt hole that prevents the torque of the screw form transmiting to the air box cover, it that's missing, I'll assume it'd be easy to crack the airbox. Check for the shim (Look on the other side too) If the're missing work with the dealer to get your cover replaced. Remember, "Catch more flys with Honey"

I agree with Borrowed. Check for your metal spacer and rubber washer. Lack of the spacer could allow the crack by over tightening and if the rubber washer is gone your cover could rattle while riding.

Looks like everyone had a good ride last saturday and got to see a cool car show too. I never knew Paul Bunyan had a Radio Flyer!

I'm looking at the forecast for saturday and it's not pretty, it looks like rain in the morning, and I hate to be a party pooper but I don't ride in the rain, I don't have the appropriate gear. And it pretty well sucks, it sucks the fun right out of riding. Either way, I might try to go Friday afternoon if anyone is interested, I'd still like to go up skyline, if there is any interest we can set up a meet point. If it is raining, you will likely not see me on Saturday morning. And just to point out, yes I was born here, I have the webbed feet to prove it, I just don't care to ride in the rain. Walking around in it is a different story.

ok guys, it's a beautiful afternoon. I AM going for at least a little ride today. I am still thinking skyline area... anyone who CAN make it? Call my cell 360-608-1450. I'm thinking around 5pm or so, so there is at least an hour or two of daylight left.
