hehehehehe

I would be interested in your opinion on the bike when you get some time. Given that you're not currently a Buell owner, I think you'll have a more objective assessment than most.

Did you see that dvkphoto used your HP2 as the cover photo for one of the intermediate galleries?

Thanks to both you and Rainey then. I hated showing up at the last minute and dumping that work on you all. But I'm glad you could do it, it let me ride and that was a great experience.

BTW, did either of you get the 1125 into 6th gear? I may have made it to 5th, but I know I was shifting too early. I don't think I got it above 8k rpm. Thats when my ears want me to shift.

Spike was a real star!

U4 had similar comments about how fast he was. Considering it's you and Jim saying that he is fast ...

All,
Katie & I had a great time. I rode the M2 the first two sessions then rode the 1125R the rest of the day until they put the new "wonder bikes" back in the stable. Then I rode Katie's Monster 620i for the last session. To bad that the first thing that bike (the 620i) drags is the muffler (one on each side). We've almost worn a hole thru the left one. Maybe longer foot pegs would serve as "feelers".

If I was in the market for a new bike, I think the 1125R would be it. Seems so capable both on the street and on the track. It's much more street and back-road friendly than my Gixxer-750, and I think would beat it on the track to.

M2, near T5 maybe:

1125R in T7:

K between T3 & T4:

Y'all be sure to let us know next time you come up to the mountains, especially around Asheville. We'll see some of you at Beerfest soon!

Hey John,

I remember seeing a Ducati with a scraped up muffler. : )

Glad you both had a good time.

Dang it. Two days later and I still don't have the words to express for that day. It was really, really fun. Definitely the best track day I've had. I do have to say that Nesba seems to run a tighter (and faster) ship, but big kudos to the PTT team for getting us a lot of track time and a relaxed environment. The trip meter on my XB says I did 92 miles on the track, which is a lot of miles considering I did two sessions on the 1125R. There were some incidents in the novice group that should have been avoided, but the PTT guys did a great job getting everything sorted out quickly. The extras from Buell/Vanson/Pirelli/etc really pushed this event over the top. I'm kicking myself for not taking the opportunity to wear a ~$1500 set of American-made leathers at no cost to me. At the end of the day Jordan was really raving about how nice the 1-pc Vanson suit felt.

The 1125R is really awesome. I'm still not sure what to think of it visually, but it really does look better in person. I really love looking at it from the front, but from the rear I see the tail section of my Firebolt and can't help but think the wide XBRR-styled fairing looks out of place. Aesthetics aside, the bike is very fast and very easy to ride. Ergonomics feel like my XB12R, but the pegs feel a bit lower and maybe a bit more forward (maybe not?). The throttle response is much better than on my XB12, and the sound when blipping the throttle from low RPM is really nice. I noticed that the dash greeted me with text that read something along the lines of "Buell- Wisconsin USA" and the display switched over to instant MPG. I wanted to peel the tape off the speedo and keep playing to see what other features were there, but VIR North was waiting for me. At first I was a little put off by the vibration and how busy the motor felt at high RPM, but by the 2nd session I had completely forgotten about it. Either the bike I rode in the 2nd session was smoother or I just needed some time to get used to operating a twin in that RPM range. Handling wise the bike felt very similar to my Firebolt, but easier to turn in and yet more stable at the same time.

. . . and the rest will have to wait for later. It's 6pm and I don't like hanging around the office any later than I have to on a Friday evening. You guys take care.

I talked to Pete this evening. He was back at the Doctor's today and the hometown doctors are much more positive than the ER doctor's in Danville. Cracked ribs, so he's sore but well medicated and is a lot better than I saw him at the ER. He's a tough dude.

Thank's for posting all the picture's! I need to save up some money for some leathers so I can go next year! Do you guy's recommend waiting to buy leathers at the track? Do they have better deals there? THX

FWIW, Novice class doesn't require leathers. My riding pants/jacket was acceptable.

I can't imagine anything being cheaper at a track. : ) If you want leathers, I'd start with newenough.com and see what they offer.

Hey Nance, glad to see you could try out the track at VIR. Nice place, right? I ALMOST came up at 10am, but had too much crap at work to deal with. I should have said "screw it" and rode up there. Pat wants to take a ride tomorrow, so I think we will try to find the gravesite of the Charlie Lawson family/murders near Walnut Cove.

Holy carburetor Buellman!

Or should I say lack of a holy carburetor?

With a proper carburetor, the S2 is back to the mean beast that it has been for the majority of it's 112,378.7 miles - so far, & as of this morning.

Before odo reading

This is a pic of the odo when I started out this morning changing the tranny fluid and putting the 48 jet in the holy-less carburetor. I tried a 50 jet for the past couple of days and it was a little too rich. With the 48 jet in it, it now sounds like the 'worked-on' motor that it is, idles steady (RPM-wise) as a Rolls Royce, and really moves out when you twist the right hand grip. A post jet swap ride proved that it is once again spot on!

Tomorrow will be the time to put on some real miles!

It did, but in a most ironic way. The broken off stud vibrated out of the lower nut. I still have trouble believing that vibrations will really loosen something, but it's hard to deny.

hey ya'll, all the pics are awesome. Wish I could have been there. looks like everyone had a blast.....(laugh if you feel so inclined or shake your head in disbelief at the amount of suck I just typed. Either way I will understand). I may be looking in the wrong place but does anyone know if cityx bodywork will fit a uly? I'm kinda thinkin about changing over to the hero blue but I'm not real sure if it will fit. Blue Ridge says "Well no, I don't think so......well maybe......but they have different part numbers....I'm not sure, you'll have to do some investigating and get back to us". The shop foreman was at VIR and said the new bike was insane, just couldn't stop praising it. sounds and looks to me like they've got a winner.

The 'Air Lid' will fit, the front 'numberplate/wind deflector' will not, but I have seen the special ULY they made for the QueensRyche tour, which had a traclucid red body kit on it. Some further investigation into the factory may be in order. I'd call customer service. Or better yet, jump over to 'Court's in Session' part of BadWeb and ask Court to check for you.

Rubberdown. I've had a bad vibration I couldn't track down, other than it had to do with the muffler. I wasn't supprised it broke, it was just a matter of when it was going to do it.
