Sorry to hear about the Clutch. Yes those roads rocked. I can't believe that I live that close and still have not discovered them.

I will be out for 3 weeks. Hopefully weather holds up through October for some more nice rides. Family plans this Saturday coming up and then Vacation in Vegas the following two.

Well actually I might be able to to meet this next Saturday for Breakfast at Gators and maybe ride for a couple hours. No one gets up all that early here at home except for me.

What roads are we refering to? I got home ontime and safe, Picked up the new car (Land Rover LR-2) and had it parked outside the Spa my wife was at when she finished up her appointment.

Very cool. Bet she was thrilled.

I am not sure of the roads I was too busy just following. But they start in Wilsonville and end up where 219/Bell rd come together. They were very cool though

Greetings All,

It was great meeting and riding with y'all on Saturday. Thanks for showing me some new roads. Checking the maps when I got home, I think Lolo Pass would have stayed paved if we'd picked it up in ZigZag vs. Brightwood. We'll have to save that for another day.

Until next time...

Greetings Again,

Correction, I just learned conclusively that Lolo Pass does gravel-out from Lost Lake to Hood River. I guess that route is reserved for the Uly pilots.

Well bummer!

I guess once it snows we can spike up and go through. No gravel.

So, I need to ask. What's the plan for this Saturday? I will help plan it whether I can make it or not, I might not have a usable clutch by then, but it's going in for service Thursday. Maybe I'll be up and going by then. Either way, some of my buddies are already asking about a possible Sat. ride this week and I'd like to go to them with some news if possible. Anyway, let me know if there is anything, if there isn't I'll try to get something together.

Jeremy, I am in as well until 11:00 anyway. Go ahead and plan the ride if you like. My last one ended up in a dead end road up in the mountains.

Sounds like we have at least a few interested for this Saturday.

Maybe A Gators breakfast and then out 224 through Esticada up to clackamas river rd to Detroit lake and back. Just a suggestion.

I like that plan, I've never been to Detroit lake and would like to see it and I've heard the ride is awesome. I hope I can get my clutch done by then, it's really chewed up at the moment, if the parts are in stock I should have it done by then. Either way, I'll help plan and set up the ride and see what we can get put together. Maybe if my bike isn't ready by then I'll take the 4 wheeled thing(I think it's called a car) and bring my tank of a camera and take some good pics of the ride and the riders. If we find a good spot we can get some pics of people doing what they should be on bikes, you know what I mean, wheelies, stoppies, leaning way over in corners, etc. I'll start getting the word out to my friends, anyone has any questions or suggestions give me a shout on my cell: 360-608-1450. Or of course here or email is good too.

Jeremy

Howdy Y'all

This is my first PBR post. I am back in Oregon after a two year exile to Texas. I was planning to ride this Saturday and would love to tag along and meet some local Buellers.

Brady

PS Detroit lake ride sounds great

Welcome to all the new members here, yellowtuber, garage31, bradyr77 and even my bro ammocbr. I have a few friends that are expressing interest this weekend already and looks like we could have a nice group of diverse bikes and riders. Bradyr77, my brother is currently exiled to Abilene, Tx. if you have any tips for him as far as rides/people to ride with, I'm sure he'd be happy for the info. 2 Things to announce: First, I would like to set up a long(read: most or all day) ride up windy ridge, went up there the other day and it was beautiful, though a bit chilly that day. There is a bit of road damage, they are repairing it, so there are a couple of spots where you drive through gravel and such. I'm thinking about scheduling that one out a few weeks(assuming the weather holds) and rolling up there. Did it the other day in my car and just as a caution I did see one bike go down up there, yes I did stop, and yes I did help him get his bike back on the road and followed him and his friends up the hill to make sure that everyone was ok. Any interested, let me know. Second, I am going to try to plan a bike/block party in the next few weeks also. BBQ, music, friends(new and old), probably lots of booze(so those who drink will lose their keys or submit to a D.D. situation) This would probably be a Fri. or Sat. evening thing, will keep you all informed as it pans out... if it does, things like this often get veto'd by the fiancee. It will also likely be set up like a potluck, bring a little something to share, come, hang out, meet people and generally have fun.

Jeremy,

Thanks for the welcome. Let your brother know that if he can be troubled to ride the 6 hours to the Big Bend national park area, there are some nice twisty hilly roads and above all beautiful vistas. Terlingua to Presidio especially.

As far as windy ridge goes, I rode it earlier this summer from Carson to Randle. It was lightly raining the whole time and there was everything from gravel to tree limbs on the road, but I had a great time and would love to do it again on a day when I could actually see the mountains. Maybe even ride up the east side of St. Helens.

Looking forward to getting out this weekend though! I am free all day.

My gosh, Saturday rides are getting good. With new riders and new knowledge of routes it looks like you guys will have fun exploring roads and showing old favorites. Welcome to all new posters on the PBR and thank you to Aron and Paul for getting it going earlier this year.

Once again missing the Saturday ride! At least I've got 1k miles on the XB after getting it back together 3 weeks ago.

Detroit-Breitenbush road is sketchy, a series of cuts across the road for drainage project, plus potholes. Almost got tossed from the bike Labor Day.

If folks are interested, then we could plan a Saturday+Sunday loop through NorCal for epic riding. I'm heading down that way this weekend on a 4-day Beemer trip, but will certainly have a Jones for a Buell group ride when conditions are ripe.

Mark, you are suppose to ride with both eyes open on that road.

Other option is to go up around Timothy lake where 224 Y's-into Breitenbush.

I've heard some horror stories about the Detroit lake ride this year as well. I'll go if that's what everyone wants to do since I've never done it, but I will definitely be paying close attention.

There is always the ride Aron did solo a few weeks ago. At least the pics look good.

Greetings All,

I can't go this Saturday but I've run that Estacada to Detroit rip many times. There is a neat side road, Forest Road #42 (NF-42) that will take off to the left of Hwy 224 about 1/2 way to Detroit. NF-42 will take you over-the-top and connect w/Hwy 26. You can also swing by Timothy Lake off of NF-42. It's a twisty, sometimes single-lane road, pavement all the way (at least it was last time I was on it), a nice rip.

Have fun!

The road is not that bad! I was on it 5 weeks ago with Buellballs. Yes there are some sections (about 1/2 dozen)where the pavement has been cut and filled in with gravel but they are only about 2 feet long each. There are also a few dips

What we did last weekend on Lola pass road was far worse though.

As yellow tuber said we can also take a left at the Y.

Either way I am up for what ever everyone wants to do as well. Bring your ideas Saturday or post here.

Thanks,

So, bad news. I took the Duc in for her 6k service today. All I needed was(so I thought) an oil change and a valve clearance check. Was quoted a couple hours labor + parts, total around $300. Woo hoo, I've heard horror stories about the 6k service costing WAY more. They did most of it when I bought the bike so that was all that was left. Well, I dropped it, and me, off at Moto Corsa today, expecting to ride her home after a very minor service. I guess I was WRONG!!! After they did the valve check, oh, mister customer, you have 5 valves out of spec, that's 1/2 hour labor + parts to re-shim them... each. Quick math 89/hour, 5x(89/2)=holy mother of_______! Well, I gotta do it, to quote Larry the cable guy, Get 'r done. Oh, mister customer, 3 of your rockers have the chrome chipping off, they need to be replaced also. Just get it done. Do you want to know the price. No, just get it done, it needs it, just get it done. These went up in price a little, they used to be $85/each, now they are $220/each. Cough, cough... WHAT?????? And we only have 1 in stock the other two are on order from Italy, will be here sometime early next week. And she's running rich, do you want us to remap the ECU for you so she runs a little better. Might as well. Do you want me to bend over at the counter, do you prefer to bind my hands while you've got me bent over? So my $300 service is now somewhere hovering around the $1300 mark and won't be done til mid or late next week, at the earliest. AND this doesn't include the $400 in parts they are recommending I put into the clutch before too many more miles. I love my bike, but she's an expensive B****. I was thinking about tagging along Saturday morning in the car with my tank sized camera, is anyone interested in having pics taken while cornering, riding or whatever? Let me know, please, otherwise I can sleep in.

P.S. again, I have at least one person that wants to meet up after breakfast on the east side, does anyone have any ideas where would be a good place for that, I don't know that area well, and I don't want to drag the whole group several miles out of the way just to pick up 1 or 2 people. I was thinking in the parking lot to Factory motorsports I think it's right on 224. Suggestions?

Jeremy
