Hey Ron. Good to hear from you. And good to hear you're busy riding.

Sounds like you need the new 1125 water-cooled Buell.

There'll be a thread on Border Raid starting soon. Hope you can make that one.

Check this out! I got my bike back! Now that SPLASH is done! Go figure! Maybe I'll hook up with you guys down the road somewhere. Sure were a ton of Buells around my neck of the woods over the weekend!

Hey Eric. I tried to return your call but they said you would be out until Sunday.... hmmmm, I wonder where you could have been? Oh yeah, the 1125R is a machine to drool over I got to sit on that thing at MotoGP, it was obvious why there wasn't a key in the ignition I would have to get rid of my newly acquired KTM 640 Adventure to come up with the coin for that thing. Beautiful bike though and not totally off the radar yet. I am definitely planning on the run up to BC for the Border Raid so I'll be watching for that one. Tell Jaci I said hi! Take care up there and be safe.

What happened on SPLASH 10? Don't ask me, I'll tell you. Unforutunitly my ride was cut short by a flare-up of CBEP... (Continuing Buell Exhaust Problems). But that was later. Truth be told I got in some of the most excellent and exciting riding of my fourty years of throttle-twisting. After our group gathered at Starbuck's and got caffinated, we left for the back-side of St.Helens. Our group consisted of a bunch of Canadians, and various other ruff-necks. We had un-presedented clear access to the curly-whirlies just befor Alder Lake. I have been riding that piece of road for the above-addmited LONG TIME (40 years) and this was the first time with NOTHING in my way. Jimmy pulled, and Harv pushed me, up to a level of riding I have been working toward forever. Flicking up and down into and out of these corners was epic beyond my ability to express. I wanted more. But that was after lunch. We squealed into Morton and lined up at the Wheel for a biker friendly lunch which was 'just right'. This was when I noticed the onset of the first symptoms of CBEP... My BRAND NEW exhaust clamp was already exhausted! I was a bit suprised as Betty's shots were all up to date. But the road called and what are ya gona do? Ride that bitch was all I could come up with. The roads up onto, and into the mountian were giving us a chance to have our way with her curves. She is not always so 'easy', and we took advantage of the chance we were given. We passed a red Mini so many times they weren't quite sure if they should wave or throw stuff at us. ( We passed some jerk in a white truck that was livid to the point of flippin' each of us off, shaking his fist at the Gods that would allow such an activity to occur on His watch...) The frost-heaves were mighty in their number, and their ability to toss us in the air and toward the edge of the road. This was both wheels in the air kinda stuff... back wheel came up so high on one of my landings that it bent my license plate! I was pushing Betty to drive like she should be able to. And then I saw that the tarmac in the next hard right was f ucking gravel. There was no way to take the corner at our speed, and the only real option was to try to get the anchor out as soon as possible. I'm watching FunJimmys' bike squirling around, both tires sliding in different directions, and I'm thinking "nice", 'cause it looks like somehow he's got the damn thing pointed in the right direction, and out of trouble. Now it's my turn. I'm trying to grab as much break as possible during the short and sporadic clear spots, just flow when it turned back to gravel, and hold onto the horns, er, handle-bars, as she's trying to go three ways at once and buck my ass off. Did I mention Jimmy and I are both on the absolute edge of the wrong side of the road, trying to stay out of a three foot deep ditch? I get my speed down to nearly zero and put my left foot down, thinking, " by George, I think I've got it". But the road sloped down with no where to stand, and I got thrown over the bars into a really nice judo-style roll, with no human damage detected! Bib was right behind me, but far enough back to have gotten stopped. Perhaps he can describe what he saw... My bars were bent, and so was my hair, but otherwise damages were minor. I bounced up laughing, and Harv helped me tip the bitc h back up-right.

Well, my zoomin' days were done for this trip. But I was still with my family of best friends, so I took up my new position in the back of the bus 'till we got to Woodland, and the family reunion. It was, as is usual, a great day in the park, followed by a great night in the parking lot!

I understand there was some other riding done over the weekend, but I have few details as I spent Saturday dealing with a case of now full-blown CBEP. Some galeing wire and I was able to ride home without incident.

I have everything worked out for BordeRaid parts-wise, other than the snuffler... but I do have some galeing wire left over...

3 weeks and counting!

sooner, Galen

P.S.S. I had the greatest time a guy can have not in bed or on two wheeles yesterday. I took the boy, now 13 yo, up to Mt. Rainier. I was a bit of a climber 30 years back, had summited Rainier, and wanted to show him around a bit. We hiked from Paradise (4000 ft.) up to about 7000 ft. I was amazed how wimpy and out of shape I was, but determination carried me through. Spring comes late in the higher altitudes, and the amount and number of wild flowers blooming was devastatingly beautiful. I of course forgot my camera at home... We have decided to get in shape and climb the Mt. next year. We had the greatest time.

Good to see that you had fun and are having fun, Galen.

I, unfortunately, got inducted into the Galen club last Friday, when Jaci and I went to the Yale blues bar in downtown Vancouver for my birthday celebrating. If we had left instead of dancing the last dance, I would have had the opportunity to pound my helmet into the skull of the drunken prick that pushed my bike over. (On foot. Over the left, kickstand side.)

Casualties were signal light, shifter and toe peg, clutch lever, cracked tank cover, and chipped fairing under the mirror. So look for a new custom paint job next year if the Sporty doesn't eat up all my bike funds.

Hey all,
Seems I only post up on here when Im in need of help.
As some of you know I sold my '97 S1 last summer. The guy who bought it from me called this evening from Seattle and he's having electrical issues.
I think it may be the key switch.
Does anyone know anyone know someone in seattle that might be able to help him out diagnosing the old Scalded dog?

Drf, all I can say is I had a key-switch failure... so it can happen. The freakin' things are $90 from Harley... bastards. And did you check the Rider Assistance Network here at BadWeb... it's 'in STORMFRONTS. That may help find some BuellBrain...

Eric, the world is full of pricks, at least it seems that way sometimes. It just sucks being a vehicle for someone eles's Karma...

I tried to buy a set of spark plugs from the Harley dealer in Albany. Silly me. They don't carry Buells. So I says, how about a intake manifold boot for a CV40 carb? Guy says, "they took back our Buell parts manuals, so I can't cross reference to Sportster parts anymore.
That's why I order from American Sportbike. They make it easy.

Grandbabies both here today. Grandma made a blueberry pie and I am making a coupla pizzas. She asks, "Can you have both pizza pie and blueberry pie in one meal?" I thought, "WWBD". And I says, "You can never, ever eat too much pie." Right, Bob?

Life is very very good.

Hello Everyone,
Seems my hip problem from SPLASH has morphed into somthing else. I have reached a point where I can no longer ride either of my bikes (Too much pain) until I can get this problem fixed. I go in for a MRI on tuesday. Keep your fingers crossed for me. There is the possibility that if they cannot fix this, I may have to bite the bullet and get a bike with forward controls. I cannot keep my leg bent for any period of time.

So keep it in mind, I may have two bikes for sale shortly. A 96 Triumph Tiger and a barely used 05 Aprilia Touno.

Wish me luck.....
Paul

Hark! I come now befor you all to Proclaim this Honerable Act of Mercy carried out by St. FunJimmy, of far-off Canadiala. Seeing, as he did, the Un-earned and Tragic Plight of one of his Brethren, He has acted in such a way as to Heal the Damage inflicted upon my steed, Betty, by the cowardly and un-couth act of the Darke Kook. By use of Sorcery and Deception was said steed cut down and hobbled, and only by the Purity of Heart of St. FunJimmy was She able to rise again from the Ashes of Despair.

All Hail St. FunJimmy!

OH MY DOGGIE! Betty is truly resurected and stands ready for BordeRaid! She's a different ride now... more low end grunt... starts now at 3000, as opposed to about 4000 prior to her surgery. As usual St. Bobbie came through, and with his pin-point laser was able to weld a place to put my O2 sensor on an old M2 header. BRILLIANT!

And that pipe... that wonderful, sweet pipe! WOW! It sounds sooo good, deeper, a little mellower tone, better power... BRILLIANT!

lets see.. new handle bars on

new pipe

new header

turn signal... mirror

shifter bolt, change tranny fluid

READY TO ROCK.

I think this is gona be one of The Best.

See ya all sooner, Galen

Can't wait to see her and make up for the disappointing journey at SPLASH.

Keep her together bud.
