Just a note on the primary sprocket torque, it has been upped from 190-210ft-lbs to 240-260ft-lbs on '03-later XBs and '04-later Sportsters:

On the 200+ ft-lbs torque wrench, you can borrow one for free from your local Autozone auto parts store (for a ~$100 refundable deposit). I have one that goes to 150 ft-lbs but couldn't find anything any higher that wasn't professional grade and cost ~$250 or more. Considering there's only one fastener on the whole bike that you need it for, borrowing one is a good way to go.

Anyone need a good laugh? I was nearly bitten and/or attacked by my mom's next door neighbor's huge golden lab. Halfway between my truck and mom's porch, I see the dog charging me. All I could do was swat at him with a dvd, and try to kick him under the jaw, while screaming at him. Man, he was bearing some serious teeth. I got him to back up a few feet, and I was able to pick up a decent sized stick. Finally , he retreated. One of his owners witnessed it, and I heard her say "don't you hit him". Unbelievable. I gave her a few choice words. This is the first time I ever saw the dog outside of his fence. Next time I visit mom, believe me, I'm gonna be prepared. I've got something for that dogs arse!

I had the same thing happen at Kristi's cousin's house. I was getting out of the car when I was met by a neighbor's dog. It was a little ankle bitter, but the dog kept charging at me. I saw the neighbors sitting on the porch watching the whole thing but did nothing to stop the dog. I opened the door to the car again and reached under the seat. The neighbors saw me and started franticly calling the dog. Lucky for the dog, it responded and ran away. I closed the door and walked to the house like nothing happened. The dog never bothered me again.

Definitely not. I really don't think you could even give him one.

He's looking at getting a newer track bike. His '03 999 is showing its age and I think he'd like to try a new I4.

Hey Jim, come see me at AZ, I got your tqwrench!!!

I also had a dog charge at me while the owners were in the front yard! Poor, poor dog didn't know what to think when he hit the rear wheel of the bike and did a flip over what would have been the bike, had I not been moving the dog and its' owners were like

Home again. Fantastic adventure in New Mexico and Colorado. 10 straight days back country backpacking in the Sangre De Cristo mountains in New Mexico, tons of incredible riding in the Carson and Pike National forests, good times with old and new friends and a lot of memories with my son. I'm a little beat. Hope all have been having a great summer. August 17-20 Rachel and I are going to Barber track in Alabama for a couple of track days. Time to knock the mud and knobbies off the HP2 and get it set up for some track time. Hope to see ya'll at VIR.

Mike - Sounds great! Those memories last a life time.

I am planning on riding to the West Virginia Adventure in two weeks. Anyone else planning on going?

Blasters!!! I need some help. I have an 03 Blast, I just re-jetted carbs to 170/45.
I seem to be bogging at top end. I have V&H exhaust, race cams, gutted airbox with K&N filter. What tuning is needed? Please let me know any info if you have it.

Thanks

NC - About 90% of all Blast problems are caused by the rubber manifold coupler cracking. It's the piece of hose that connects the carb to the engine. Check that. If it really is an issue with the carb adjustment, I'm out of my league.

Mark, if you're in the neighborhood, I could use a bit of advice. The service manual is a bit vague on a couple of points.

Since I'm home today looking after the kids, but the kids are both occupied, I thought I would work on the bike. I'll have you know it's HOT outside. I quit when the sweat wouldn't stay out of my glasses. I'll read the service manual until things cool down.

Yeah me too. I dig that helmet but I think an XL is too large for me.

I'm putting new throttle cables on the bike. I got them routed last night, it turned out to be easier than I thought. I didn't have to take off the headlight bracket like I was think I would.

I should be able to get it buttoned up tonight, assuming the cable adjustment goes well. The service manual makes reference to parts that I am going to have to guess as to what they are (stop plate?)

There isn't much room to work, I need smaller hands. : )

New to BWB, I ride an 06 xb12ss and live near the Franklin, Vance and Granville County lines. Would enjoy meeting other Buellers in the area.

Life is Good

My throttle has been sticky for the last 15,000 miles. It actually "stuck" at 10,000 and I took it to the dealer to get it fixed. They said the adjusted and rerouted the cables and it was much better. But it wasn't even close to as good as the Blast.

It got sticky again, so I decided to replace the throttle cables and see if that fixed it. My fear was that it wasn't the cables but rather the adjustment, and that I would never be able to get the new cables adjusted correctly.

I just put the throttle assembly back together. I haven't adjusted the cables yet, but it is already ten times better than it used to be. This is good.
