Ran a 9.7@ 118 against a stock 750 zuki, and 9.65@119 against a loaded 636(if it really was a 636). Got them both every time but the last(ran 11 passes)ECM shut down the ignition. The 750 seen nothing but my tail lights, BUT the 636? I could see his rear tire in my mirror. It definitely has a V-Twin sound to it, and sounds somewhat similar to the 45° V-Twin, but it definitely has a slightly different character. Even though it wasn't rev'ed very high, it seems like it likes to rev quickly. These are just a few of the pictures I took. Jim - I was quite proud of myself. I did not even cuss. I do not have an open end torque wrench so I was tightening the cable into the cover with a regular open end wrench and it just snapped. I really did not put much force on it. I was able to get the piece that was broken in the cover out pretty easily. There was no force holding it in place. If I had the clutch cable I could have ridden the bike today. I have the bike almost finished. I have the front module put together, the wiring back together, the hand controls on with grips and hand deflectors. I am missing four screws that are not essential to ride, but the clutch cable proved to be the killer. Like always, none of the dealers in our area had the cable in stock. We were unable to get through to Appleton or Stone Mountain parts department, thumbs down to both them too. So again the Dealerships fail me and prove they are the worst thing about owning a Buell. I can not see how a bunch of HD chrome specialist are going to be able to sell superbikes like the 1125R or dirt bikes like the 450cc coming next year. Like Hogs out of there mud holes they will drive Buell business away. Okay rant over, I am a little cranky, I have waited four weeks for parts and now I have to wait again for something that can break on the road and put you down.   Sportymark Posted on Monday, July 09, 2007 - 06:51 am:        if it makes you feel better, the do not stock the Harley parts for the regular harleys half the time either.   Jlnance Posted on Monday, July 09, 2007 - 08:33 am:        I was tightening the cable into the cover with a regular open end wrench and it just snapped. Something I learned from Sportymark... There is a seal inside the cable that keeps the tranny oil from running into the clutch cable. When you screw the cable into the tranny, it is important to rotate the cable so you don't break the seal. I was really hoping to ride Sunday or today, but now I have to get ready for the trip. Jim - Thanks for the tip. I had the cable stretched out straight. I had not routed it yet so I did not have it all twisted. I will be particularly careful with the next on. Kristi got the new one on order today. Hi Carlos, I was just here checking on what the C3'ers had been up to. They really need to package those clutch cables with a big yellow warning sticker that says "WARNING- HIGHLY FRAGILE. DO NOT OVER-TORQUE!!!". I had the same thing happen ~3 years ago with my ebay-acquired S3. The clutch cable was the last thing I had to install to have the bike rideable. That was a sick feeling when my brand-new clutch cable snapped off like that, especially knowing I'd have to wait a week to get another one from DaveS. The threaded portion is aluminum and will break REALLY easily. I guess that's on purpose, because otherwise you might rip a big hole in the primary in an accident like your bike went through. When you get the new one, just remember the o-ring on the outside of the threaded portion does the sealing, and a good o-ring seal will hold several hundred PSI when finger tight. I screwed my second new cable in finger-tight and then BARELY tightened it with an open-end wrench and it hasn't leaked a drop in ~15,000 miles.   Jlnance Posted on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 - 11:44 pm:        Sporty - In reference to our prior conversation: This is an experiment. We had to pay $75 each way for American to escort Carlee from flight to flight. Since tickets were only $326, Carlos decided he wanted to go, so off he went as well. He'll stay for 5 days, Carlee for 12. We haven't been to PR since 1990. There is a big family reunion/party planned. And here I've been breaking yet another law! Oh well... I got back about 9:30 Tuesday night. Total miles put on were just under 3,000 (2,975 to be exact) for the whole trip. Now to caught up... Oh wait - tomorrow is Friday the 13th!!! Well, I guess I will need something to do when I recover on Saturday the 14th... I'm warning you - I can see good points for each... 1313   Spike Posted on Friday, July 13, 2007 - 06:52 am:        This is another comparison I'd like to see: Of course, we can't compare these to charts directly since one is an engine dyno from the manufacturer and the other is a rear-wheel dyno from and end user. What we can compare is the overall shape of the power delivery. The dip in the 1098s power looks particularly bad in this chart, but the 1098 dyno chart in a recent issue of Motorcyclist shows a similar dip in power. While the 1098 is obviously out powering the 1125R by a significant margin up top, the 1125R seems to have a much more linear power delivery. I'll have to wait till we can see real-world dynos of each to make any real comparison, but I'm willing to bet that the 1125R is just as strong up to 6k rpm or so.   Twig Posted on Friday, July 13, 2007 - 07:55 pm:        OH HAPPY DAY! Finally got our son Luke moved out into his own place. A few more things to haul tomorrow, and it will be a done deal. He seems to be very happy about it. I know Pat and I sure are. Hopefully everything will work out fine. As long as he stays on his meds, no reason why it should'nt. Very nice to see your tax dollars going to good use. Our youngest son will be back to WCU in a few weeks. I know you and Patty deserve it. AUGUST 5th- The local riding group and I are planning abenefit ride for a cancer patient. Would like for those of you who can make it to come. Plan on about a 2.5-3 hour ride with food, poker hand, 50/50, and other prizes and give-aways from many different business's. Planning for kickstand up @11:00 am and will arrive back at a local bar and grill who is also trying to get a bike night started.   U4euh Posted on Sunday, July 15, 2007 - 12:44 am:        Oh yea, new raceway opening just 40 min north of Charlotte. New owner will apply to get motorcycle events held there. Is that actually going to happen? That would be a VERY convenient location for me. Rock Hill ain't too far away either. Does the Rock Hill track have a website up? Looking forward to the VIR Buell event, but also about to get my ol' Mustang running and track ready, so a few local tracks would be AWESOME! When we were in Cali, all they had were killer road courses. Moved to NC, and all they have are ovals. Which are fun and all, but an occasional right hander is a nice change.
