So I roll up to Shooters Discount today to pick me up a new shootin' iron and the owner is talking motorcycles with another fellow. I somehow bring up Buell and turns out he owns a Cyclone. I then mentioned Charlie and the fellow blurts out that our very own Charlie is the best rider he has ever seen. Tale after tale was told about his riding prowess and in the end I walked out with a new gun and even more respect for Charlies' riding abilities . He even told me stories of Charlie riding dirt track with his knees dragging! Just remember that Nuts the next time Charlie gets on ya' about riding them mountains by yourself .

Nuts the game was postponed until, you guessed it, tomorrow. No sighting in for me and since you are going out o' town it looks like I'll be on my own.
Arielle wanted me to tell you to let the family know she had a great time. We heard about the days events over and over so ya'll must have spoiled her.
She also wanted me to remind you that you owe your sis $12.00 for a lost bet and you better pay up .

Jackie,
You ought to be a fiction writer, you are the best I know at taking a couple of grains of sand and a ton of bull sh*t and turning it into a story. This could turn into, the older I get the faster I was deal..............Charlie

Actually Charlie the story is pretty much the whole truth with no tall tales thrown in. Even the part about the dirt track was told without embellishment. The guy spoke very highly of you.

You give me too much credit. I usually take just the bullsh*t and spin a yarn. I find that a few grains of truth usually just ruins the storys' potential .

Plan a few days off and hit the road on the Lightning. A few days away from ground zero may do you a world of good.

Nuts,
One of the ball dads called and wanted me to take him fishing so I took him to Back Creek and Roanoke River.
Both of them were colored like coffee and didn't make for very good fishing. Got caught in a thunderstorm standing in the middle of Back Creek which was a bit on the scary side.
All told I caught 7 Smallies and 1 Rock Bass. He caught 2 Smallies, 1 Largemouth and a Carp . Ole' Eagle Eye Annie does it again!!
Dude clipped his cellphone to the top of his fishing vest and I said "I would leave that in the car". Two hours later the headfirst plunge took the life out of his phone. Expensive lesson.

Dude, what pocket did you pull the Largemouth out of. I didn't think ya'll had them up there.

But, everything bites the right lure. My favorite is a small gold spinner.

While Jack was out playing with his new friend Ole NUTS was riding up to Luray. Took the BRP most of the way with a side trip into my parents farm in Elkton. Arrived at the cabin in Luray to find a rutted out muddy entrance. It was only about 200 yards worth. Foghorn handled it with aplomb; good thing too, because there's a KTM dealership up here and I am NUTS! I'll post up a report when I get back including pics. Tank, Keep on keepin pal.

Tank,
Most of our streams have a mix of Smallies and Largemouth. In the summer the Smallmouth are found in the rough water while the Largemouth hang out in the deep, slack water.
We use live minnows for bait and usually end up catching more than our fair share.

Nuts,
No new friend just somebody to kill time with while you are scouting out our hunting land .
I'm getting ready to head up to the club for a spot of shooting and then let Jasper run around the woods. Should be quite the experience since she is afraid of EVERYTHING.
Try to make it back so we can ride on Monday. The kids will be at camp so we can head out a few hours early provided the weather isn't blazingly hot.

Just remember I gave you all the prime hunting areas as well as let you have the option of first shot so it is time to return the favor .

I may have to take off extra time in Sept. just to go fishing. Small brass is what Bass like. Maybe it's just local, but so far so good.

Nuts might miss out on the terrible Tank invasion. So me and Jackie have all the fun to ourselves.

Time might be right soon for a brand new 2008 TW200. It's actually perfect timing since the S is nearing payoff.

Short time will tell.

P.S. Dealing is Dealing, so what? Still towing the line.(thanks Charlie)

Tank,
Get the D/S and we will have a full roster indeed!
If you brought both bikes we could street ride one day, trail ride the next and then finish it off with some fishing. If you get a wild hair we can even throw in some Squirrel hunting for good measure.
Refresh my memory on dates so I can make transportation arrangements for my daughters.
Also to cut down on your expenses you can break bread with the family. I will buy the food if you do the grillin'. I am anxious to see the grillmaster put his skills to work on a good ribeye.
One thing I think I need to mention. You may or may not know but I am allergic to direct sunlight and heat. This basically means my outtings don't commence until mid afternoon after the sun has crested.

Nuts,
Pick me out a good un'. My only requests are a spot with a commanding view of the fields and edges, a nice soft patch of grass to keep the butt comfortable, shelter from the wind, a nice back rest, a short walk, easy access, known hangout of big bucks, etc.. A big plus would be a pretty view of the creek as well but beggars can't be choosers .
P.S. The Squirrel rendevous is gonna go down Sept. 6th-8th. I would ideally like to camp since we have yet to give it a try. Let me know if you are in so I can let Frank know.

Jackie,
I am aware of your "limited schedule". No problems here.

Here is my tentative plan:
Mon, Sept. 10 leave here for VIR to meet Blublak

Tue. ???

Wed. PTT/Buell track day

Thurs. I'll be headed your way from Danville. Should skate into town around noonish?

After that I have no plans except to be back at work on Monday(or not ).

My plan was to stuff both Buells in the tiny 5x9 trailer, but if I end up with a T-Dub, I guess the Stein might get left behind for the reliable peace of mind that the S provides. Looks like I might be in for another tire swap.

Me and Nuts finally did some serious trail riding today and we had a freakin' BLAST!!
Nuts wiped out once and I managed to bail it twice however neither of us suffered a scratch. I broke my right mirror while Nuts bent his shifter pretty severely but other than that no damage at all.

Kewl pics! Looks like fun.

So Tank,
You shopping yet

Actually, I have a confession....

I sent an e-mail to the bank I currently have a loan with, to find out what my financing options are.....

And, I sent a quote request to a well known dealer in Petersburg.....

...to find out what a New 08' TW200 would run me, and to find out when they will be available.......

NEITHER ONE HAS CONTACTED ME YET AND THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME!!!

Since I somehow managed to wheasel out of work Thurs. and Fri.(rock on...two days off), I might just have to take a ride up to Petersburg and get me some answers.(right after I "hit" the bank)

p.s. Should be a fun bike. There are reports of peg-dragging with the stock knobbies.

Tank,
After spraying off the Big Red Pig I would strongly suggest that you look into a used bike.
I discovered the left side is pretty rashed up including the front fender, clutch cover, gas tank and number plate. No big deal since I bought it used and with the anticipation of beating on it. I would hate to see you get a shiny new one and we scratch it all up when you visit.
Also, have you gone to the local shops and sat on the various models? The TW is a neat looking bike but I wonder how well that fat tire will do when you are riding in a narrow rut and the edge of the tire is trying to pull you out of it?
Maybe Charlie can answer that one?

I really do appreciate your concern, but...

A bike like this, if treated right, will run forever. You never know what you could get used, and right now, I need peace of mind.

Plus, with(hopefully) and out-the-door price less than $4000, the peace of mind will be well worth it.

And nobody wants to sell these things. Must be something there.

Tank likes big back tires! My first "bike" was a 1984 Honda ATC 200S, three wheeler. I was little(9 y/o), and it was HUGE. I couldn't even start the thing by myself.

I still have it. Good times!

Tank, I second the used bike route, unless you do not mind riding with a dented fuel cell(tank). Keep the Super Sherpa in mind as well as the XT 225. All are excellent, bulletproof bikes that will offer years of enjoyment. Peace of mind is priceless, unfortunately that price is dented, gouged, scratched, dropped BLISS! On the ATC front my brothers and I were presented with a 1985 200m ATC for X-mas that year. My Pop got tired of renting one every weekend from U-Haul. I wonder why they don't rent them these days? My pops' shed in Florida houses two ATC 250 Big Red's, the 200M and a 1984 ATC 200s. I used to be the doughnut KING! NUTS

Crappy Pic Ride Report with crappy commentary, courtesy of NUTS

All loaded up after custom pannier bracketry creation.

A pic of the old farmhouse, shed and big barn on the family farm. Creek to the left. House and shed will be torn down in the near future.

Pic of Foghorn Leghorn outside of a tower in Luray. I had just run something over and was giving the tire a once over.

Where I'll be coming to put harvest my first deer ever. Hey Jack you want in on that?

The creeek on the front of the farm. There are at least 2 crawdads per turned rock. I kid you not!

You know I am in on that action!!
I am already having dreams of big bucks and no hunting pressure. Might be the first year I don't harvest the first doe I see. Just wait to see what might be coming in behind her !

Tank,
I understand the piece of mind thing however I can virtually assure you that the bike is going to hit the ground at least once if we hit the trails me and Nuts took yesterday. The pictures show the nice areas of the trail without showing the nasty stuff. The reason is because it is so steep, rough and rutted out that if you stop to take a picture you ain't gonna make it up without a wreck.
I just don't want to ruin the vibes of the trip by bashing up a new bike that you'll be making payments on for the next several years.

When I buy a tool, I use it for it's intended purpose. Wear and tear is a natural effect of intended use.

Besides, it adds character!

Ya'll crackers are the worst influence I have ever seen.

First it's "you need a D/S". Now ya'll are scared to "scratch" a new bike. Trust me, by the time you see it, it will have been thoroughly "tested". I'm hard on stuff.

One other note...
I don't feel safe with my nephew on the back of the Buell, and I can't put him in front. I can put him in front on the T-Dub.

No worries, mates.(well, except for the other thing)

Nuts,
On my 200, I was the 2-wheel king!
(sideways, of course. not wheelies. Though I had a knack for the occasional/accidental 1-wheel stunt)

Payments for several years????
Not in the plans at the moment.
The S is almost paid off, 1 year early.

At the current level, I see less than 2 years to pay for both.
I'll likely take a 2-year note on it, but make double payments and screw them out of the interest.

Tank,
Works for me. Like I said I bought mine with the sole purpose of giving it a serious thrashing. I figured with having to baby my Firebolt I needed one I could drop and just laugh about it.
Charlies' philosophy has really sunk in with the Honda. I look at the rash down the side and am actually proud of the "battle scars". The left side damage was hard earned since I was screamin' around a steep down hill that banked hard to the left. I am surprised I kept it upright as long as I did with the speed I was traveling. The right side mirror and minor scratches was just a fluke from being tired and consisted of basically just falling over at a standstill.
I didn't get to witness Nuts wipe out since I didn't even notice he wasn't behind me for about 2 miles. When I backtracked to look for him I found him sitting in the same position shown in the 2nd photo.
Dude you are going to have a heck of a good time up here. Are we gonna try to work in some fishing or just a street ride and dirt ride?
