normal weather conditions for the area. Like mid jan thru april. may have some work on Lambert Field and wondering if dragging the bikes with me is in the cards.

With a fairing and good gear there would be some riding in Jan/Feb and plenty in March/April. You'll be challenged to stay warm behind the S1's fairing Jan/Feb on most days but you would catch a break now now and then.

That's assuming a normal winter. It is possible to snow over Jan1 and stay below freezing most of the month.

The past several winters we've ridden almost every weekend...Last year there was only one weekend that you could not ride due to snow/ice...So far this year we've already had that one weekend...Most of us here use Gerbing or some other heated jacket liners and gloves...Helps also to have some kind of head cover on under the helmet that extends down into your jacket so that no skin is exposed...Josh gave me a "Turtle Fur" one some years back and I still love and use it...

Not a done deal on my side as of yet.....

Figure if I gotta spend some time in the area. Might as well bring both bikes with me.

It will suck spending so much time in a motel though.

I do have the option of fairing or not. The RS is quite comfortable.

thanks for the heads up.

Bryan...Just looked at your profile and see that you live in LR ARrrrr...A bunch of us from the STL area try to get down to ARrrrr as often as possible each summer...I just got back from a rally near Chatham LA and we rode a route in lowest ARrrrr suggested to me by one of our members who lives down that way and it was great...ARrrrr has such wonderful roads...Some of the best, if not the best, in the WORLD!...As we were returning north and crossed into ARrrrr on state road 129 things looked up immediately...Not to slight LA as they are about broke due to Katrina, but the road surfaces in LA were pretty bad...

Do you get up to the gap area very often?...Last time we were down we stayed near Mountain View in Sylamore...I haven't tried out "The Hub" as of yet but want to give it a go this coming summer...It's nestled right there in the middle of the best riding close to 7 and 123...By chance have you stayed at "The Hub"?...

I can't impress how much more you will enjoy riding with us if you have an electric jacket liner and gloves...Safer to boot...

Thanks,

Bob

John,

If you're out there, just letting you know I finally put that clutch cable to good use this past weekend -- was down to and hanging on by a few strands.

Happy Holidays to you and the rest of the SLAB folks -- DAve too (assuming you're still out there)
(^^^^^^)

thanks, Steve

If I had a spot in my garage I'd store one for ya. Maybe short-term rental (there's a place just down I170 between Olive and Page, maybe there's another closer)

What hotel will you be staying at? There's a great indoor Kart track about 5 minutes from the airport.

No details as of yet. Just something the boss tossed at me the other day. For now I am fishing so that I do not get caught short.

May not even happen, such is life as a DOD contractor type.

As for riding the north central roads of AR. You would have to see all the pretty colered lines in the map book.

Hwy 123 from Lamar to Sand Gap then take 16 east from Sand Gap to Tilley and then 27 south to Russleville. Run this stretch in either direction and you get a real workout.

Hwy 341 (Push Mtn Rd.) between Mtn Home and Mtn View. What a rush!!!

Hwy 123 from Sand Gap going north and catching 374 west towards Jasper and having lunch at the Cliff House Inn.

As Court has stated several times in the past. AR has some of the best, least known roads to ride.

The bad part for me. Well not so bad. Is the hour and a half each way to go play on the good stuff. Makes for long days in the saddle. A lot of my rides I go trying to figure out how tie certian sections together.

Already working out the base camp details for the spring texican invasion.

So many roads , so little time.

Ride...Saturday...January 20...Eureka QT...11:00 a.m...

I'd love to ride this Saturday if road conditions will allow...Would
all of you who live out in the boonies please give us a road report
around your area...For my part W and FF out of Eureka are free of all
ice...

Please note the unusual start time of 1100...This to allow for max
warming and only a short, hour or so, ride to lunch...Maybe the
Hawthorne in Labadie as it seems to be quickly becoming a fav of ours?...

Thanks,

Bob

Ride Warning Order...Thursday, February 22...

Wednesday a high of 51 and partly cloudy...
Thursday a high "near 60" and pc...
Friday a high "near 56" with a chance of showers...

So as of now Thursday is looking like the day to be real sick...A few of us (Ron Widman, Jim Coleman, Froggy, Woof and myself) are planning a "Moonshine Burger" exploratory run...We could shift this one day earlier or later depending on the wx as the time gets closer so keep an eye out here if you're interested...We'll probably meet down at Widman and leave from there...

Thanks,

Bob

Moonshine Store Burger Run...Thursday, February 22...

We will leave from two locations PROMPTLY...

0815 from the Eureka QT at I-44 and MO 109 and

0900 from Widman Motorcycle Sales...3628 So Broadway...For most go south on I-55 from I-44 and get off at the first exit, 206, Arsenal St...Go right on Arsenal and an immediate left onto Lemp...Then right onto So Broadway and left onto Illinois to Widman...

The reason we will have to keep to a tight schedule is that the grill at the Moonshine Store closes at 1230 and she's real serious about this...Bring your appetite for what is supposed to be the "Best burger in the state of Illinois"...

Thanks,

Bob

hey everyone tomorrow is the annual blessing of the bikes at bald knob in alto pass, il. this won't be a sport ride (sport bikes are welcome!!!!) but more of a cruise down some fun roads. We are meeting at waffle house in festus at 0900 tomorrow and will leave after breakfast. The planned route is 61 south to st mary then mo-h to mo-51. Gas up on the MO side of chester bridge then a quick stop at popeye for a pic or two and to meet a friend of mine from il then south on rt3 to 159 (i believe... ) it's the highway into murphysboro. In murphysboro, we'll hit 127s to alto pass and then up the gravel road to bald knob. I would love to have any of you join us as we should see literally thousands upon thousands of bikes there. Email me or call me on my cell @ 6182036980 if you'd like to come. Ought to have a great time!

thanks, Josh, it was a great time! my little blast treated me very well. I was surprised at how well that 492cc could keep up when it needed to.
Nathan and I were both impressed with your FJR's handling seminar two-up! Quite an impressive sight nearly scraping hard bags! shoot me a pm if you wanna get together sometime. garage day or otherwise.

Next time we'll get Mariabelen out on her Blast. And next time we'll make sure not to get separated at turns! The HSTA guys we were with violated one of their most sacred rules there, but they figured "everyone knows where Bixby is!"
We lucked out by being with HSTAers who knew which way to turn.

Incidentally, the FJR will hit the mufflers and wipe out before hitting the bags, which was never a problem on the 99S3T we traded for the FJR.

Hey Buell where's my S3T replacement?

Hey flatlander Josh,
Get with JOhn and he can probably fab a medieval rack. Have the fellas come over and begin 'the treatment'. Over the next few months you'll eventually be long (hopefully tall) enough to be able to mount a Ulysses.

Buell needs to come out with some bags for the XB12Ss ...

Yeah, give me an SS with a Ulysses tail and R fairing or larger, with lowers and a power windshield (the engine is nice but the #1 item on the FJR is the windshield)

but, if Mariabelen likes the Scg, then trading her Blast for one (and I could keep the FJR) would be pretty sweet!
