Thanks Mike.
Wife won a $1400 work bench at the Angier Bike fest, for some reason she wasn't as happy as I was. Did get the garage cleaned to make room for it so I guess we both won sorta.

Fly, I saw that work bench. I had to work the fest. Even had to judge the "bike" show. I am amazed what some people call custom.

Brankin, do you have room to bring back an extra bottle? I have been tempted to buy online, but the shipping is expensive.

I am flying to Orlando tomorrow for a wedding. I won't be able to ride until next Wednesday. But when I get back the bolt will have new tires and brakes, heck it will even be freshly washed. Hope the new Avons work like they are supposed to.

Mike - I like the Avon AV45/46 on the M2. They stick great, but I have not had them long enough to see how they hold up over time.

I had been getting around 8k on the 45/46. The new ones are the replacements for the 45/46. I think they will be fine.

Running a set of Avon Storms now.
With 3771 miles today they are at 5/32 center, started out new at 8/32. No dirt (hanging my head in shame), but loaded like a Sanford and Son truck at Max GVW plus a few pounds. I have flogged the old girl to Key West and back in 3 days then up to PA and back mostly in the fast lane running with but never being run over by anybody. Was in a couple frog stranglers in FLA and never once worried about them. Need a trip to the mountains to help even out the sides which are still at 8/32.
So far these tires have exceeded my expectations for loaded mileage.

Glen - I do not know when I will be on two wheels again. The M2 sprung an oil leak in the mountains and I started to work on it when I realized I was spending all my time on the M2 and not getting the Uly back together.

Somewhere down the road I will have the bags and racks back in shape to put on. The left rack is fine, the trunk rack is just scratched up and the RH Rack needs a little TLC where the rack connects to the foot peg bracket from a good fabricator like Webe to get it back 100%. I will be able to fix two out of the three bags. I can buy the bag itself from Eurotech and use the Buell markings from the bag I have to get all three bags back. For now I still have my Ventura bag for travel until I get the bags back up to snuff.

We ordered the last two parts I needed to finish the Uly up. I have the bike pretty much stripped down and started yesterday putting new parts on.

I will have the tail section and the right foot peg bracket fixed this weekend plus I hope to have enough time to get the LH Module off. I have to put the hand controls on the handle bar then wait for the LH Module and foot peg to finish getting the bike back together.

Once that is done, I am going to ride it somewhere, any where. Depending on when I have it done will depend on if I am going to the Smoke Out if just in passing.

Jim - How do you like the '07 Air Box?

Sporty - It has more holes. :-)

Carlos - I haven't done more than start the bike with it on there, but it does run. It's supposed to give better power. I'll need to get the ECM reflashed to match.

I think could have converted an 06 into an 07 with a dremmil tool, it's really the same thing with less plastic.

Glenn,

I appreciate the offer, but this year I am going to try out the 'special camping' that they've got for the Smoke Out. I miss the old days of camping at the site itself. I realize that it won't be on site, but I'm hoping some of the old antics will still occur at the campground.

It's 4:13 a.m. in Berlin - I think I need to get some sleep!

I thought some of you might find one of the bars I went to last night interesting.

Here's a picture of their tap... That's right, it's an old 45 c.i. H-D V-Twin.

Last night was heavy metal night, which suits me just fine. Most of the tunes were obscure American songs, but there was one Rammstein tune mixed in for good measure.

I learned an important lesson. If you don't know lots of German, it is best to just start speaking English right away. When I told Housekeeping Fünf Minuten (Five minutes), she spieled off a long, friendly discourse in German. At that point, it was just 'smile and wave, boys, smile and wave'.

Now it's just a lazy Sunday in Germany,

Oh yeah, talk about phenomenal... Sorry it is all in German. More Ferrari's, Maserati's, Jaguar's and even some classic US cars than you can shake a stick at. They even had some unbelievable motorcycles there, but the main attractions were the cars. The pictures on the website definitely do not do this place justice. I am still awestruck at everything I saw there yesterday. Some of the cars you could even rent. They even had a 1969 Cadillac Leichenwagen (Hearse) that you could rent for 230€ per day during the week or 250€ per day on the weekend. Apparently either it doesn't get stored there or someone had rented it because they only had the advertisement there.

Man, will I have one helluva trip report to make when I get back to the States,

WOW! The M2 that Frank has lined up for me to ride at the MSM next weekend - Hagar the Horrible.

My ride for MSM 2007

Speaking of M2's, as I filled up the tank of the rental car (60,00 € for 44,87 liters - right around $9.00 per gallon once you convert it - for regular grade) near Zilini's today, I heard a familiar sound barreling down the street. At the red light I see a blue large-tank M2 come to a stop. As soon as the light turned green (and before I could get my camera turned on to take a picture) he was off again with a V-Twin noise that I'm suspecting is not TÜV legal. It just goes to show that Buell owners worldwide are hooligans!

Fun weekend here, just got home a few minutes ago.

On Saturday I completed a mountain bike race, took the dogs to the vet, took the wife shopping, then Sarah and I hopped on the Firebolt and rode ~200 miles West. We met my family in North Wilkesboro and stayed the night there. Sunday morning my dad, brother-in-law and I all went for a ride down the parkway, came back and did some light "adventure" riding, then packed up and rode to Winston for a family reunion/birthday event before heading back home. All in all I covered ~450 miles on the XB, ~380 of which were 2-up, including some miles off the beaten path and even a few helmetless and barefoot. I'll post pics later.

Not all of them are of motorcycle stuff, but there are a few in there that give an idea of the riding we did.

Spike - looks like you had fun! Can't believe Sarah rode that far on a Firebolt! I don't think I could do it!

BTW - I went to 1st grade in North Wilkesboro. Small world here on C3.

Speaking of Small World - I got a PM from a BadWebber about being added to the RAN - he's from Washington NC, only 30 minutes from Grifton! Talked to him tonight and he's interested in riding with some of the local C3er's. He's riding an 07 Uly - orange, of course!! His screen name is noseed.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Carlos is still working on the Uly. Hopefully we'll get the last few parts within the next couple of weeks. Once the Uly is back together, the M2 gets the attention it needs.

The Buell touring pillion helps, but Sarah's a real trooper when it comes to that stuff. She's done numerous ~200 mile runs on the back of my Firebolt, although this was the most she's done in a 2-day period. We were both pretty sore after the ride up there on Saturday. We rode ~180 miles to N. Wilkesboro only stopping for gas and water in 90+ degree heat. The trip back was much more relaxed since we stopped in Winston for a few hours and it was cooler overall.

Those hills were fun, I don't know if the pictures do them justice. For perspective, the Road Star isn't using the kickstand in the hill pictures, it's just laying on its side. I almost went looking for water crossings, but decided against it.

Yep. That one is an '03 250 E/XC 4-stroke.

Pictures coming soon.

The next two are from opposing viewpoints. I actually had some trouble getting back up the hill from there. Apparently bald Metzeler M1s aren't the best off road tire.

Hi all.
Great pics Spike. I think you are braver than me offroad. I get back to the triangle tomorrow, decided to pick up the bike first. Hate not being able to ride. I did stop by the Buell shop in longwood/fernpark. I almost bought a sporty there years ago. I did pick up a couple of shirts this time. Hope I will be able to wear them at Ray Price.
