Nobody wants to ride their Buell with me .
Seth,
You can wear your spandex on the Buell if we go riding. Can't look any worse than my fat self stuffed into a leather racing jacket that is one full size too small. Since I porked up I have started avoiding store fronts with glass windows so I can't see how goofy I look in the reflection.

Charlie,
Actually I remember exactly what you look like I was just trying to get you some attention from any Badweb babes that might be reading this . Don't tell the misses though because if me and Nuts ever do make it down there she'll make me sit on the curb while ya'll have a barbecue.

Nuts,
Don't count on catching the biggest fish. Have you forgotten that I am the fishing masta'?
Today is the day I land mister log back Pickerel!

wNuts&Jackie,
Well I'm a one Buell man again. There is a good looking Blue Firebolt sitting on the local Ford Dealers showroom floor now.Hated to do that, but needed a new truck and there isn't a decent road within a hundred miles of here. They gave me forty five on the trade.
They called the local HD Dealer to see what it was worth. They said they didn't want it at any price. The guy said I just want to know what it's worth and they hung up,he said what an A-hole(Low Country HD) Makes me miss RVHD& Buell big time. I think the service manager wants to ride it home.LOL, he will be hooked before he knows what happened.
Got an S3T for sale down here also, silver metallic w/ blue frame. It's in the SC section and probably the classifieds,4000 or BO.
You all pack up Scarlett& Harlett and come on down, the track is running Sat.nite........Charlie

Charlie,
I am sorry to hear the Bolt' is gone! It kinda saddens me to think our group of XB owners is dwindling.
I hope the truck brings you some enjoyment or at least serves its purpose admirably.

As predicted I caught the most fish and the 3 biggest. Nuts did catch one that would be close to tying my 3rd biggest but the rest of his were pretty small .
Last I remember it was 7 to win and 6 to tie. I think he buckled under the pressure because he got real quiet towards the end when he knew he couldn't catch up.
I did manage to slip and fall 2-3 times which I think gave him some sort of deep personal satisfaction .

Jackie,
Those slips wouldn't have been while you were slipping a little chum in your fishing spot while Nuts wasn't looking.
I did hate to give up the bolt, but the clone is more suited for here. Plus the sand down here really eats the heart out of those soft tires.Ole Black Stallion can still get the blood pumping, so everything is cool..........Charlie

Charlie,
The slips happenend while trying to find a spot to fish. Ole Nuts' became a madman and began fishing from one side of the stream to the other leaving me no choice but to try and cross the most treacherous spot in an attempt to get away from the fury of his flying #6 Eagle Claw hook.
It was like he became possessed by an evil fisherman demon and I was honestly scared for my safety. A twisted, wicked look of disdain was spread across his face while his mouth began uttering words that sounded like an ancient chant to call forth the very forces of nature to align themselves against me. The speed of his casts increased and his retrieval was performed with a pace that a mere mortal could not muster.
It was sheer pandemonium I tell you!! A frenzy of monumental proportions!

Then again I could have just slipped on a moss covered rock while trying to beat him to the next hole .

Enjoy that Cyclone but try not to scare the locals with it when you pull up to a stop sign . It is a mean looking machine!

Nuts,
The trailer mods ain't gonna happen tomorrow. Had a PB samich and it caused some issues.
Worse case is we load up your truck and strap mine in the trailer or we can simply ride to our destination.
No intention of bailing Sunday but tomorrow is gonna be a lost day fo' sure.
Course a pleasant surprise would be to wake from my Atarax induced coma tomorrow night and find the mods have been done by the Nuts fairy.

Jackie, we'll figure something out. I worked 7-7 today and arrived home to find a 48 tooth sprocket on the porch. Installed with only one bloody mishap and test ride complete. Let the wheelie fest begin. I'm also up to other nonsensical NUTSness . Brutha is going MOTO

Charlie,
Hate to hear that you are unloading Buells at a frantic rate, But if you can't "ride" it, then it just looks at you "begging" in the garage. Both of my XB's beg to be treated naughty, and they will be in different ways.

Jackie,
I need some input on a D/S that I might actually be able to keep upright, without the need for stilts. It might be more practical for me to mod a 2xx for road use than to find a bike that fits. I have real short legs.

Nuts,
I still want to know details....
Though I would love to deal with Buell C/S, and talk to Court for whatever, I have no need as of yet, and I likely will not in the future. Inquiring minds want to know.

Just made some Brat-kebobs, and loaded a bit too heavy on the Beverage. I'll try to get phone pics of us bums tomorrow, but no promises.

Man there are TONS O' DEALS out there if you search Adventure Rider or Craigslist.
I doubt you would have much problem finding something that will work with your vertically challenged status.
One thing is for sure. If you get one and come over every few weeks you WILL be hooked. My poor old Bolt' hardly leaves the basement anymore.

Nuts,
I may have a solution to getting them both on the trailer. Worse case is we waste 20 minutes trying to get it to work.
Give me a call around 2:00.

Tank,
The Firebolt just wasn't meant to ride in bumper to bumper traffic(unless your at the track)by the time I would get where I was going I'd be to PO to have a good time. The Clone isn't any better in traffic, but I couldn't part with that one.Plus the Clone is paid for and the Bolt wasn't, I'll still miss it,but I really needed a new truck.Charlie

Tank, with regards to Court....nothing happened. He said he'd call and he bailed without notice. It happens I guess: I went to bed thinking, the next day could find me riding a CityX home from NYC! But it didn't. As far as the Uly goes...They bought me out. Essentially, I leased the bike for the 9 months I owned it. I recouped my deposit of 2k and forfeited my 8 months of $235.00. In the end I don't have the back of my mind tickled constantly with the terror of "Ping." I have biked down and am enjoying being able to ride. I love Buells and think they offer a wonderful experience. When I am financially ready I want a bike that'll take me across the USA and right now East Troy does not manufacture one. I feel Buell and RVHD-Buell went out of their way to make this an easy transition based solely on customer response. Because I followed the proper path I was given fair dealings. I don't think you can ask more out of life.

As for dirty bikes that suit you...unfortunately you're having to fight for all the bikes husbands are buying for their wives. The good news is most of them will decide against riding with Mr. Macho and chrome and a ride will become available. Off the top of my head I would suggest.
Yamaha XT225
Kawasaki Super Sherpa
Yamaha TW200
These are all small displacement bikes but believe me they have more than enough grunt to produce smiles. The nod for favorite has to go to the TW200. The 14"x 9" rear tire permits the rider to go ANYWHERE! Snow, mud, creeks, leaves, uphill, you name it it'll eat. Low seat height, air-cooled, 5speed bag-o-NUTS! When was the last time you laughed in your helmet for an hour straight? Probably the last trackday, right. Same thing; less carnage, lower buy-in. I went for a solo romp today as Turtledove is under the weather. Once I reached the trail I proceeded to drift the rear wheel on every turn for 15 miles! Wanna venture a guess where I was? Or how far I was from your Pops' cabin?

Charlie, I have been sorry to hear about your loss but am well acquainted with those feelings. Besides, The is the keeper. I sure hope those kids of yours appreciate the sacrifices you've made for 'em. You've given up the mountains and now the 'bolt. When I'm in your shoes I hope I can be man enough to do the same. NUTS

I should be so lucky. I need a KIDS bike.

Or how far I was from your Pops' cabin?

15 miles?? You likely came within 200 yards. Watch out up there, though. Pops just rolled in with reports of fawns with no mama, and cyotes' on the prowl.

Fellas, When I ride solo I stick to the legal forest roads. I do NOT veer onto private property and make sure to give a friendly wave to every local I encounter.

Tank, I did find Scarlett to offer more flex than either Buell, but she's supposed to do that. Those 17"s are going to require a fork brace at minimum. I'e also thought about heavier springs front and back, there just happens to be pair for sale that I know of. Of course a CR500 front end would do the trick nicely too. NUTS

Nuts,
Don't know much about "Scarlet's" internals but that seems like a lot of steady high speed load on that motor.Doesn't the motor only have like a quart of oil in it? I know that was all the 450 motors had. Thats gonna be some seriously hot oil by the time you get to Deal's Gap.
I'll bet she would love to ride down in the back of your pick'up

Charlie,
Surprisingly the 650 holds about 2.25 quarts of oil. The engine and front downtube hold oil which increases the volume but also increases the pain in the butt factor when it comes time to change it.
I am relatively pleased at how cool mine runs once I desmogged and rejetted but I'd still like to figure out a way to slap a salvaged Buell oil cooler on there. Increased oil volume and temp reductions would probably make the work worth the effort.
I think after my detour last week both of us will be sticking to the forest roads when alone. By myself I wouldn't have had a chance at unsticking myself.

Tank,
Be warned, once you get one you will be addicted. Takes the thrill of riding to a whole new level when you can ride the regular roads and then hit the knarly stuff.
Nuts and I have gotten to the point where we map out the shortest distance possible on the pavement so we can spend the majority of our time playing offroad.

Jackie,
Thats a much better deal than the 450's. 2.25 qts. will make it livable, but like you said an oil cooler would be nice. Back in the eighties I had a Honda Ascot 500 and the aftermarket people had an oil cooler set-up that gave you the blue print of where to drill in the case to hit the oil passage, thread in a fitting (2) and run the lines from there.
Looks like if it has oil in the frame, you could loop into the return line from the engine going back to the frame. Should already have fittings there. Just mount it where the rocks aren't going to punch a hole in it.Charlie

I just read that the TW200 has a whopping 16hp stock, and not much more modded.

Not doing a whole lot of stump pullin' with that.

I'm not sure what I expected, maybe 25-30 just to turn that fat rear tire.??

Tank,
Our 650's are only pushing around 35hp but it is AMPLE power when riding the rough roads. I can tell you with certainty that we haven't begun to tap into what these things are capable of off road.
Time for you to sell the Bolt' and get dirty! Keep the Lightning for the chick factor and have the D/S for something more exciting.
Bet you could get plenty of enticing trade offers on it over on Adventure Rider.
Come on man there is plenty of mud for all of us.
