Solo here. Planning on leaving on Friday as it stands now from South East PA and jumping on the turnpike at Morgantown. Departure time is still up in the air.

Yeah, I guess I should have listed the starting point. It will be at my shop located at 550 North 5th Street, Bellwood, PA 16617. If you are going to "Mapquest" directions, use 600 North 5th Street as your destination address. My shop address, is new and doesn't show on some travel/directional programs.
I am 1 mile from exit 41, off of Interstate 99 that runs north/south thru central PA.

I''ve got lots of room for parking if you are bringing a trailer. I also have ramps if your loaded on a truck.

I also have the VDSTS software and can bring my laptop to the shop if anyone is needing a TPS check/reset.

I'm not sure on a head/bike count. I have a few local guys that are thinking about joining in the fun.

Randy, Most of the road construction thru Mill Creek is now finished. PennDot is working on a few bridges around Huntingdon and Water Street, but those roads (even under construction) are much better than what you road thru last year.

Pos, from the responses on here, I think most everyone is riding solo, but don't let that hinder you from bringing your wife along.

I'll go easy on you all thru the ride with a few "catch up" points along the way. If we finish early enough and you want to run the first section again (read that as the most curves) we could do that section a second time.

As stated early on in this thread, there are a few BBQ places around or Frozen Custard stands. Would anyone be interested in riding to one of them? If we get started around 11:00 a.m., we should finish no later than 1:00-1:30. We can play this by ear, but I just wanted to let you consider this ahead of time to possibly allow time for "lunch run". I do realize that some are riding 2-3-4 hours to get here and need the same amount of time to get home.

OH YEAH 7 Days!

Quick head count is around 12-13 depending on who all shows...

If anyone comes in Friday night and wants to go for breakfast Saturday morning, let me know. I know of an old diner that is not to be missed and the food is pretty good as well;) http://www.tomandjoes.com

Just another update:
I pre-rode the ride course today (yeah, I know, twist my arm,....)

GREAT NEWS! PennDOT paved the roads that were the worst part of the ride within the last 2 weeks. They are now REALLY SWEET "S" curves that can be taken as fast as you care to go thru them, PDOT rated at 30 mph. They are as smooth as a baby's bottom!

I also changed the route a little to include the "downhill coasting contest" that Rasmonis commented about before. It will add a few miles to the loop, but it adds more fun as well.

I'll post some pics later and if I figure out how to post a video to Youtube, I'll add a link for that as well.

See ya in 6 days!

National weather service is saying cloudy and a high of 74 for Saturday. Friday looks about the same. Weather is looking great. This is a beautiful time of year in that area.

Welcome to the Res Ride

Just a few curves

Funny part about this picture is, you can only turn right.....Leave it up to PennDOT.

You just can't have a "Res Ride" w/o a Res pic....

Toona,

Well, as nobody posted anything about leaving from Philly, I've decided that I will be leaving on Friday morning, taking a leisure ride on 322 to Harrisburgh, then the Turnpike, and so on. I plan on returning on Sunday morning.

Breakfast sounds good, but what time? I'll pm my cell phone to you just in case...

Bueaddicted, PM Alchemy. Maybe you 2 can link up and ride in together on Friday. Alchemy is coming in from Royersford, PA-somewhere in southeast PA.

The ride west on 322 from Harrisburg to State College then south on I-99/Rt 220 is a nice ride as well. Something to consider as an alternative to the 'pike.

As of this reply to your post, I haven't received your cell number in a PM.

My email is: alumicraft (at) gmail (dot) com.

As for breakfast, T&J's gets busy around 8-8:30. I usually try to get there around 7:45/8:00.

Pos90, I haven't heard anyone "pick" a hotel. The Motel 6 or Hampton Inn are closest (as in walking distance) to many restaurants, but all restaurants are within an easy ride (1-2 miles) from most hotels in the Altoona area. I'm not sure what your budget for hotel room rates. If you give me an idea, I could give you a better idea where to stay. The Motel 6, Super 8 and Hampton are the closest hotels to I-99.

Just a note to all: Business Route 220 and Interstate 99 parallel each other north of Altoona towards Bellwood. Distance from Altoona to Bellwood is around 10-13 miles depending on where you are staying.
The Knights Inn outside of Bellwood is the closest hotel to me, about a mile, but there are nicer places to stay for $50/night or a little more.

Dan, your humble host this weekend.

Just a note to all coming:

The Res Ride is around 110-120 miles, you will need a full tank of gas to do the entire ride w/o stopping for gas. The closest gas station to my shop is either the Sheetz or Martin's gas station located at the exit ramp of I-99/Business Rt 220. Currently 92 octane is $3.19/gal., who knows what it will be by this holiday w/e.

It would be best if you all had full tanks when we leave for the ride. We will go directly past the Sheetz/Martin's gas stations only once during the ride, about 30 miles into the ride.

I have a two "rest stops" in mind-none with "facilities" to get off and stretch and take in the scenery. We could stop back into my shop about 1/2 way thru if needed.

A video on You Tube of the opening set of corners for the Res Ride.

Sorry for the lousy camera work, but I was holding the camera in one hand while driving/throttling with the other. I REALLLYYY need to get a camera mount. Going thru these corners while driving with only one hand isn't really advisable, so don't tell anyone, OK?

Hey just so you all know, I work for the holiday inn and have found one about 9 miles away from the starting point. I can get it for 39.95 a night, and I could poss get more rooms for that price. I don't know whether I’m leaving Friday after work or Sat morning. It might take me 3&1/2 hrs to get there... So if anyone wants to convince me to ride with them, please do so. This is my cell # 215 208-3914 call me so we can put this together.

I'll be eager to hear the reports. That is a gorgeous area and the last time I came through there I was in a hurry and didn't get to wander as much as I would have preferred.

It looks like you have perfect weather in store as well.

Ride safe and have fun,

Is this a Buell only event? I have a friend that loves to hit the twisty stuff, but he doesn't have a Buell. And no...he is not a squid. I didn't even ask him yet, so chances are he already has something planned.

Second call for anyone driving down from northeast or north central PA. I plan to take I-80 west from Berwick to Route 15 south. Then I'll jump on Route 45 and probably take that the whole way.

This is not a Buell only event, the more the merrier.

The Holiday Inn Express is next to a Perkins, Red Lobster, Olive Garden and Dunkin Donuts and about 3/4 mile from the mall and main food locations. It is a newer hotel and good part of town.

As Ekass said, it's only 9 miles from me. You could go north on Pleasant Valley Blvd (same as Business Rt 220) and come to the starting point if you didn't want to slab it for 9 miles.

Court, there's always room for one more - hint, hint ;)

I found my GPS mount for my Buell, so maybe I'll try to get some more video of what you are in store for! Whew, no more one hand driving one hand videoing....

If anyone will be in town for breakfast Sat morning, we could meet at the Holiday Inn and I can lead you to Tom and Joe's for breakfast.

Ok, so my deal is, Coming up Friday night and staying at the Holiday Inn Express. I'm bringing another motorcyclist as well.

Toona, If you would be so kind as to meet me at the Holiday inn Saturday morning, that would be great. I would love to sit around the breakfast table with some fellow Buellers. Also I don't know how anyone feels about this, but what about Friday night??? Any Ideas? Couple cold ones...

Ekass, I'm looking forward to meeting fellow Buellers.

Sat. morning for breakfast will be a good time. Tom and Joe's slogan on their shirt is: "You can't pay for entertainment this good" They have a "top 10" shirt as well, one of the reasons is "top rated food, R-rated service".

As for Friday night, depending on when you arrive, we could do some riding-if you are up to it. I personally don't drink, but we could still get together.

Buaddicted PM'd and said he is staying at the same H.I.

Oh by the way, 3 DAYS!

I am planning to arrive in Altoona area between 1 and 2pm Friday. I think I will try the Motel 6. I will travel off to New Millport for an hour and then back so I should be back in Altoona between 6 and 7. Is there any rendezvous point for Friday evening? I am also game for Saturday breakfast at Tom and Joe's.

I haven't really set anything up for Fri night.

As for breakfast Sat. I plan on being at the Holiday Inn at 7:30 a.m. and leaving to go to T & J around 7:45. I went to T & J today for lunch and warned them that we were coming!

Alchemy, Ekass has a deal arranged at the H.I. for $40/nt, which is probably better than the M6 rate-usually around $45. I think you need to contact him to set it up though.
