Welcome to PBR Clint. There are a few here that plan on doing he PIR this summer I believe. I have never been to PIR on a bike before. I took my car few times though.

When the weather gets nicer you are welcome to join one of our day trip outings that we hope to soon plan for.

Thanks Aron. I will check back here often. I am a regular commuter but sadly I have limited time for runs. The track day was a great experience. A safe place to go fast. There was no pressure to keep a pace that was beyond my skill level. I have been riding for about 8 years. I highly recommend it for anyone. I learned more about my bike and self in those 7hrs than in the past 8 years. I even earned my nickname.

No problem Clint. Most my rides other then weekends are commuting. I work close to PDX off of Columbia Blvd. So I get a good 60 mile commute/day. I usually take every back road i can to make my commutes more of a fun ride.

Spanktastic, if I didn't have to work on Monday I would be all for it. What size GSXR do you have? I have been going back and forth about a second bike but I cant make up my mind.

What makes you think it needs a dampner?

Shakey-welcome to the group!

Brand new 750, fun! Will you have it broke in on time?

I have been looking at the ZX14. It's the only thing that is big enough for me to sit on comfortably. But I will have to wait a couple years for it.

Just saw that there was a Portland section!

I've been in the area about a year and had my XB12s about 2 years.

I don't get chance to ride as often as I'd like, but I'd like to meet up with the group as long as you guys don't mind my attire:

I picked this up after an 18 wheeler took a right turn and didn't see me in the left turn lane of the street he was turning onto. Missed me by about a foot.

ya for sure I'm guna go out to vancouver lake park now and practice some weelys.

and thats why I think it needs a stabalizer. because it feels like it just wants to throw me on my face when I get the tire off the ground and during clutchless up shifts its real loose. I ordered one so we'll see how it works.

oh and Julie's bike is already broke in. she tracked it (on the stock tires) the other week. she just had to go get a 750 three days after I got my 600 trying to prove that chicks can hang to. (or that I'm a little girl?)

Now, now boys...lets play nice. I wasn't trying to prove anything...ok maybe a little.
Yes, the gsxr is broke in, and it is fun! Swede, my hubby is a big guy too, he was also looking at the ZX14 because it seems to fit, however, looks like it will go straight fast but how is it around town???

XBabuser, I don't need anything for around town. Thats what the Buell is for and does it real well.

I am looking for something better in the straights and long distance travel.

yes the ZX14 is about as fast as you can get for straight line speed.

The ZX14 power is heavily controlled by computer in the lower gears. Whether that helps the city driving manners I don't know, but I'm sure it handles as good as any other sport tourer if not better. Might want to take a peek at the 990 Super Duke for something that is sportier, not sure for longer travel or ergos but if the Buell wasn't in the garage a liquid cooled Austrian would be.

Her's everyone talking about up-sizing and I rode the mule this weekend! God lord I'm glad I got Scarlet, cant believe I enjoyed the Blast at all. That said I taught a good friend the very basics and the smile on his face when he got a little comfortable was good to see. He's on his Way to the Thailand... On a one way ticket. Nice to be him!

GREAT to see a few new names and a few more posts this week! Later all!

paul, no interest in upgrading here. The Buell has more then enogh power to get me in trouble around town and the Twisties.

I am just looking to add to the stable for those long distance trips where straight roads are the norm. The idea of having the Buell at a high Rev pounding with the Drummer for 3 - 6 hours straight and not a turn in sight is not to appealing.

A high Reving I4 Sport/Tourer would be much easier on the ears while providing some fun on the straights.

Phil, the Super Duke looks nice but I am not sure what I would gain over the Buell other then a little more power. Plus it is very Expensive!

So when is our next Ride?

Eric, I'm available Monday to ride.

Aron, I couldn't help but mention the Great Orange Pumpkin, but perhaps you may want to look at BMW. The K1200 GT would probably give the best comfort and performance wouldn't be to far off from the ZX14. It's a Beemer so price is high but they have been out for a couple of years so when you are looking you might find a good used one.

Hey all!

Aron, got your mssg - those new levers and cover look great, top notch quality. And you know I'm gonna try to talk you into a Beemer as 2nd bike! Rode a K1200RS during the new Tigard BMW store grand opening... nice bike, very nice 165HP, but I was still content to ride the R1150R home thereafter.

Shakey, was your PIR trackday PSSR or other? My XB's got new sport rubber on the spare wheel set, and an XBR front end that DEFINTELY will help down the front straight; my XBS worked well during my 1st trackday in 2005, but was really wishing for XBR ergonomics, and a steering damper everytime I got headshake at the Porsche bump.

OK folks, weather's improving and it's time to plan a PDX Buellfest.

AGREED on PBR Buellfest! We gotta get Roc involved as he's done a lot of the group stuff already. Any thoughts on listing PBR (Or Roc's club name if there is one) on the owneers page of the Buell site?

By the way Mike, I looked for yellow gear and couldn't find any I liked. I like being seen.

Honest, that was why I put the Drumer on, loud pipes and all (Cough Cough)

Paul,

The jacket I picked up was by Olympia:

http://www.olympiamotosports.com/home.html

I got it at Portland Motorcycle out by the airport. You'd probably find them for less online.

I agree about the exhaust and it's how I've convinced the wife that I need to get a drummer or micron. Still can't decide between the two. Hoping to hear more at the local ride.

Mark. I had a good time with a group called 503 I think. Was very small turnout. Approximately 15 in each group. The day started out pretty structured but by the end it was pretty much a free for all. Read no passing in B/C then later watch your ass. As far as the bike ergos on my R I don't know if its my 190lbs and riding style or the way I've set up my suspension? I only have problems with head shake?/tankslapper when I've failed to let the tires get good and hot. And even that has gotten way less frequent since I moved to Michelins.
Thanks for the welcome all. I will try to be a good contributer to the discussions and look forward to meeting you all someday soon..
