Hello to all,
Just moved here via Michigan (thought it was flat), NW Minnesota (found out what flat REALLY is) and Florida (tropical and flat) to WNC.
Looking for some fellow riders in the region. Thanks to Jlnance for pointing me here.
We plan to stay in this location, as my wife refuses to consider any more moves for 5 years!
Living outside of Hendersonville, and work near Asheville, so lots of riding to do. Just got my '06 Uly moved here. I also have a BMW and KTM, and have had a Duc, numerous KTM's and even a couple Jap bikes in the past. Trying the Buell as an alternative to buying a BMW G$. So far, so good. My goal this weekend is to unpack enough garage moving boxes to actually see the bikes.
Hope to hear from some C3's and be invited to join the fun.
I hear your membership requirements are very rigorous!

Since you found your way here, I guess that means your in! Welcome to NC and best of all C3! As for being invited, don't wait for an invite, jump in and say you're coming. We have several adventures planned all the way through next March.

Check out the Adventure Folder. Currently on tap is C3 Jr. Ride in May, Buelltoberfest in October and soon March Badness V will be posted for next March. There is also a WV Adventure on Storm Fronts that a couple of C3er's may be going to. Check them out and welcome to C3!

Arcticktm,

Man, you are right in the middle of some great twisties where you are. Two of my favorites in the area are highway 9 from Bat Cave to Black Mountain (get to Bat Cave via 64 from Hendersonville) and 176 south of Saluda, NC. Be sure and check out AMA Superbike champion Jamie James' restaurant "the French Quarter Cafe" in Black Mountain. West of you, 276 from highway 64 (just east of Brevard) up to the Parkway and beyond is also great. There are PLENTY of others I'm sure I don't know about in the area.

Your wife says you can't move again? Why would you ever want to move away from there?

Arctictm,
I'm right down the road from you in Black Mountain. Drop me a line and we'll go for a twisty good time, I live off of Hwy 9. As far as riding goes this weekend looks bleak I've got a 24hr trail race. But any time is a great time to ride. Welcome to Ashvegas.

Thanks for the welcome!
NC is a helluva lot friendlier than FL so far.
Creeker - I'll drop you a line next week. This weekend will be spent unpacking enough garage boxes to actually see my Uly anyway.
Hughly - I've been on 276 many times, as we used to come to Waynesville for ride vacations. Haven't been to French Quarter yet, though I have been through Black Mtn in the family cage.
What's the word on the closest dealer to Asheville? Where do you all go for tire mounting, etc? I used to do it myself, but no longer have access to a machine. The Uly needs a new rear shoe very soon.

Cool we are getting a western foot hold. There are actually others in the western part of NC that post so what regularly. I will be in Hot Springs in May, so maybe we can get together then.

Closest Dealer?

Ha, I guess you could call Blue Ridge HD/Buell in Hickory a dealer but I wouldn't take my bike there. The guys at gene lummus HD in Swannanoa will change tires if they aren't mounted on the bike. The guys at Stone Mtn HD/Buell are great and badwebbers get a discount if you can drive 3 hours to Atl.

Smokey Mountain was very helpful when Carlos had his little off-road adventure. They did have the Buells right up front with apparel and helmets.

There is an indy shop south of Asheville that would probably mount tires for you. I'm forgetting the name, but they fixed mike up when he had a flat.

Myers Motorcycles is a nice shop south of Asheville. Ducati, Triumph, Moto Guzzi, & I think Husky dealer.

Arctictm & Creeker,
I live near Candler and work in A'ville. Send me a PM.

Scott at "Open Road Cycles" on River Road will change tires for $35 (off the bike). He really likes Buells and does a lot of my routine work.

Tilley in Statesville does my big jobs. I've tried all the other dealers and prefer them. There are a few independent, high performance, Harley-type shops around that I've just found out about and would like to give a try.

Katie (my smaller half, on a Duc 620ie) & I just got back from a track day at CMP w/US Desmo on Monday, and we registered for the September VIR Inside Pass yesterday. You folks going?

Do you know any of the "Scooter Scum" folks? They get together every Monday for drink, food, and talk.

John, I bump started you at CMP after tech inspection. It was a good day, wasn't it? I'll be in your area June 7-10 for the BMWRA RAlly at the Biltmore shack and will be doing some some extended rides from there. Mike.

Get out!!!!

You were a big help. I replaced the battery this weekend and the M2 is starting fine now. I didn't see another Buell at the track. Either you were in another group or were on another bike. See you at VIR in September????

The Scooter Scum were talking last night about that rally. Are most BMW riders really as......well....um....."up tight" as these Italian-bike riders make out? Consider the source!!!!!

I was in the Red group on a blue/gray BMW HP2. I'm registered for VIR on 9-12. Also going to Barber for two days in August. Man, your bike sounded great on the track!

Thanks. That D&D muffler has just the right amount of loud. If you're wearing a good pair of ear plugs!

I DID see your bike, both on the trailer in Kershaw and at the track. Very distintive. 105hp, 385 lbs. Exposed air-cooled engine engine in a trellis frame. Sweet.

Do you know Ivan Messina? He's in Woodfin (almost a suburb of Asheville). Both his race bikes are crashed now, and he's trying to work something out w/BMW to get a deal on another one.

Thanks for the shop tips. I found a place on my way home in Hendersonville that changed the tire while I waited for only $15 (off the bike, of course). "Chrome-N-Stuff" on US64, just east of I-26. Not much on the outside, and not much except Harley chrome parts on the inside, but the guys there were friendly, fast, and did a great job in <20 mins, and I arrived 5 minutes AFTER they closed on a Fri night.

Rubberdown - you are coming in for the RA Rally? I was actually thinking of going. It is only a few minutes from work now, and I still own a BMW (cruiser). Cost too much to register in NC for now, so I would probably still ride the Uly. Drop me a line if you are still going and interested in meeting up at some point. I have never been to one of their rally's before, so I am not sure what to expect.

Yeah, I'll be there starting Thursday evening. I've never been to one either so I don't know what to expect. I used to have a BMW cruiser as well; R1200CL, what a wonderful bike. Had some good times on it. My cell = 9107835133
