Great, my wife and I will be riding a Yellow M2 Cyclone w/ an S3T matching faring, Soft bags and tank bag also. For info go to my posting under "colorado summer 2003" and follow the links. We just did 800+miles in 24 hrs as a pratice ride, the night before that we did trail ridge road and Berthound Pass at midnight with a friend.
Hints to complete the ride:
*Hydration, use a camalback if you have one.
*Try bicycle riding undershorts (some say they work).
*Good nights sleep before the ride.
*Stay with it, maintain a good average speed.
*Do not try to break the land speed record, last year someone did it in 14hr 36 min.
*make sure your bike is ready for that kind of ride.
*Bring all weather gear, Its cold at night and DAMM HOT durning the day.

If you are comming from the Western Slope a return ride that night will not work, get a motel or something so you can rest before going home.

Get registered soon so they can send you the info and your shirt/hat/pin for the ride.

The first 600 miles are easy, stay with it and you can complete the last 400 miles.

Good luck
See ya Aug 17th at 0200hrs at the start.

Speaking of Santa Fe HD/Buell...

Murrae and I got together and formed a new BRAG Club out of Santa Fe, the Zia Thunder. We are planning some cool rides and some over-nighters into the Colorado area. If any of you Western/Southern Colorado guys wanna hook up for some rides, let us know. I'll post more info later.

To Our Western Colorado Brethren: My apologies for being absent from the BadWeb for so long. New responsibilities at the dealership have been taking up a large chunk of my time. I just wanted to throw-up a post to invite all of you to the B.R.A.G. Regional Rally "Riding the Rockies" that we (Rocky Mountain H-D/Buell & Colorado Thunder Club) will be hosting along with National B.R.A.G. in August. It will be August 17th, 18th, & 19th and will start with registration here at the dealership on the 17th. We will be cooking lunch for everyone and National B.R.A.G. will be giving out complimentary dyno runs on our dyno. There will be a total of three 150 to 200 mile rides. More info to follow or you can call me @ the dealership @ (303) 703-2885. Hope to see all of you there!

Greetings Fellow Riders!

The Gunnison Valley Hospital EMS (EMT-Paramedic) Division has put together a benefit motorcycle ride to benefit our Education Fund on September 24, 2005.

The GVH-EMS service area encompasses over 4000 square miles of Gunnison, Montrose and Saguache Counties. Some of the most beautiful roads in the state traverse our service area. Unfortunately we end up caring for too many riders who crash on these roads. We cover this area with one on-duty ambulance and one ambulance on call. Response and transport times can take up to 90 minutes each way in the farthest reaches of our service area.

Like most public safety agencies, our budget is stretched as tight as the "E" string on a mandolin. Because of this, we don't have a budget for continuing medical education which is imperative to provide the best and most up to date care for our patients. In an effort to change this we have put this benefit motorcycle ride together to help defray education costs.

We would like to invite you and your friends to come ride with us at the 1st Annual Gunnison Valley Hospital - EMS "Rescue Ride". The first 75 registrants will receive a special gift.

Registration will be at 7:30 AM at the Community Bank of Colorado - Gunnison Branch 1100 North Main (Hwy 135 just North of Wal-Mart) with coffee and baked goods provided. Make sure your gas tank is full!

The Ride begins in Gunnison and heads west on US 50 Hwy through the beautiful Curecanti National Recreation Area to Route 92 which follows the North Rim of the Black Canyon. We'll follow SR 92 through Crawford State Park to Hotchkiss and then head North on Route 133 over McClure Pass to Carbondale and then into Aspen via SR 82. We'll have lunch, raffles (including a 50/50), and camaraderie. From Aspen we head East over Independence Pass, past Twin Lakes Reservoir and pick up US 24 HWY just East of Baltown. We'll ride West on 24 HWY (actually South) to Buena Vista and grab US 285 HWY South to Poncha Springs and West on US 50 Highway over beautiful Monarch Pass to Gunnison.

Discounted hotel rates in Gunnison have been arranged for those who may travel to Gunnison from a distance. Make sure you tell them you are part of the GVH-EMS Rescue Ride to get your discount.
Gunnison Inn/Lodging Company 970-641-0700; Western Motel 970-641-1722; Gunnison Super 8 Motel 970-641-3068.

For those staying overnight after the Ride, there will be a get-together with beverages and music provided to celebrate our accomplishment.

More information may be found at www.gvh-colorado.org at the bottom of the page.

I thank you for your time and wish you well. If you have any questions, you may contact me (Lars) at EMS: 970-641-7276
or via email: mailto:lars243@adelphia.net?subject=2005-Rescue-Ride

Keep your wheels on the road and we look forward to seeing you.

Lars, NREMT-P, EMT-T
