That would be a photographic artifact of some sort. Or perhaps I did cry on the pipe. It looks very good. I'm quite pleased.

It was cheap to. It cost $55 for the coating, and thats the 30% more extra high temp coating. Shipping was significantly more than the actual work.

I'm going to do the Blast muffler to. I'll wait till the Burlington plant is online and drive it up there. Thats way less hastle than dealing with UPS.

I shipped it via one of those "ups store" places. Well they forgot to put the paperwork in with the muffler when they shipped it, so when I called HPC to see if they had gotten it, it was like "glad you called, we have this muffler and no idea what to do with it." Then this afternoon it was supposed to be here and it wasn't, so I called HPC and they had shipped it back to the ups store. : ( I finally got it home about 6:00 today.

My experiences with UPS Stores are that they SUCK! They charge you a higher rate (about 8% last I knew) than a real UPS facility, and the one in New Bern never matched the online quotes (that already included the 8% markup for a UPS Store location). Don't believe me? Go to www.ups.com and check out the rate calculator.

USPS is the way to go! I've never had any problems shipping through the USPS and nearly every time the USPS shipping is cheaper.

Looks like I'm out 2 cents again...

Ironically USPS is the worst ever for me they have lost and or broken more stuff. I have always shipped through work so I have never paid the retail store prices.

On March 21 I have to drive to Charlotte for some training on 22 and 23. I plan on taking back roads and they go just south of Morrow State Park. Is it worth checking out? Any "must ride" roads around there? I will have all day to get from Apex to Charlotte, any advice?

Mike - Morrow Mtn is a nice place to ride to. It's out by U4euh's place. He knows good the roads. He has taken me on them, but I couldn't tell you how to find them :-)

Jl, the "mark" inside the pipe is welding penetration from the heat shield spot weld.

Sporty - Nice shots. I guess you made it down there today. Wish it had been warmer for you all, but I'm guessing you had a good time anyway.

3rd in class would mean bronze if they were giving out medals? So Mike made it onto the podium. I knew he would do good.

It was epic. I'm pretty beat up right now so I'll tell the story later. Eight get offs, only one at speed (50-60 mph) but I survived.

Sporty- I didn't know you were there.

Twig and I joined up at the start then followed the pack through out the day. Just before Sexton's curve was the best spot, took a whole roll of film there alone. We had to hike about a mile through the forest to find it, luckily we ran into a couple from Wisconsin who had a GPS with the route programmed in it, way to cool! Did get to see any off Mike's 'get off's' , but got to see him coming down a hill WOT and slammin the HP2 into a mean left sweeper that emptied into 16inches of sand that lasted for 3/4 of a mile before making a few turns then hitting Sexton's curve. Keep in mind that all the rally cars had gone before the bikes, so the sand was nice and churned up, nothing packed, no lines to take just make your own.

Mike you did a great job! Some of the seasoned riders were having a tougher time!! Congratulations!!!

No problem Jim! Glad to help

Yeah we sort of went to Sandblast on a whim, sat at Sextons curve for awhile then went to the hairpin cause the vantage from the berms there was better. got a pic of every vehicle through the hairpin, including the guy before Mike that lost it and jsut missed a tree, then later threw sand at Mike while he was standing the HP back up.

Mark, that was Eric Burmister (sp) throwing sand at me. We raced together all day. He's a much faster rider but we were both having a little difficulty keeping the bikes upright. He said "did you see me go by" I said "no my eyes had popped out trying to stand up my bike" He said "you had just past me when I lost it in the woods". It was nuts. Earlier he passed me on a straight going into a really deep sand turn, we both took the same line through the turn, he dumped it and I ended up entangled in his bike. What a clusterfuck. Nothing to do but stand them up and get going again.

Hey Mike, Seems you haven't given yourself enough credit. Seems to me that 3rd in class and 11th overall is one awesome accomplishment. I didn't see or hear anyone else even suggesting an attempt. I read the entry list and you had some experienced competition. I for one and proud of you and think you did quite well. I wish I could have been there to support you. Damn Fine Ride.

As for everything else, everything is going as well as expected. Kylie is healing well and will hopefully go back to a removable brace next month. I am really hating missing MBIV, I had so a good time last year. Good thing is Daytona's only about 75 miles from here. Seminole Buell is expecting Erik Buell during Bike week, so I am hoping to get to meet him. As for my bike, Just changed the oil and primary juice. New gaskets, new EBC_HH front pads(which are loud so far, kinda like a buzz and whistle combined). New primary gaskets and a new rear tire.... and I am pushing it around due to no gas Money...

Mark, 3/8" is 9.5mm. Apparently the nut on the exhaust cable is 10mm. Fortunately vicegrips do metric sizes. : )

Just got back from Southern Pines. Mike's walking like an old man :-) We had a good time despite that. When Rebecca gets home with my camera, I'll post a picture of the chocolate strap-on that was oh so good.

I got to ride a BMW 1150R while I was down there. I just realized it's the first time I've ever ridden anything except a Buell. It's a nice bike, very smooth motor. Lots of little things are in different places. I never did figure out how to turn off the blinkers, though I did manager to figure out that neither the hazard switch nor the starter switch turns them off. : )

Jim - I enjoyed it very much. Chocolate is an aphrodisiac you know. ;)

I ate a brownie at her shop. I was good. I don't really eat sugar anymore and after a few bites my ears were ringing. : ) But I knew Rebecca would like it, so I brought her a few home.

Jim - Does this mean you are going to follow us on the next trip to light up the road?

Mike - I love the pics. You da man!

I rode to work today for the first time in a month. I tell you it was wonderful. The only problem was trying to keep the bike heading toward work. Man, I really could have just kept going.
