WTF! I apparently need to get a new phone and personality to go along with it. I would, but the company pays for it (the phone). Sorry Ray, I know, I'm a lame a$$.

So you're leaving Thurs am for MBIV?

On DC IMS:
I can't remember how long K & I were there either. I apparently was right behind Kathy & Cindy, but never saw them either.

When's the Timonium show?

Hey Ras,
yes you all just missed us at the DC show. I took off to go to the Timonium show this Friday. Ras I have some instructor information for you from Old Glory. They are a new dealership off of 295 and 197 south and just opened up. They are a Buell dealership with a pretty cool background. They want to talk to Buell riders in the area so they can plan events for Buell riders. Main guy to talk to is Steve.

Steve used to work at Ft Washington?

If it's the same Steve, he's into Buells, so that's cool.

Maybe we should all plan to meet on our Buells at their Opening event, Saturday, February 17th, 2007 from 9AM till 5PM.

Jose' Steve is one of the owners and comes from one of the Carolina's I hear he used to own Jap bike dealers and likes the sport bike ride. He mention sponsored track days and wanted to get to know the people who ride Buells in the area so the 17th sounds cool.

We'll except for the 2007 Buell Bikes link right under 2007 H-D Bikes link.

About time they opened another dealer up after closing Ft Washington's other location in Lanham.

I stopped by the new Laurel HD this morning. They have one of every Buell in the '07 line up minus the TT - they sit behind the playpen, you can only see them once you make your way around to the sales
desk - kind of lame I thought.

No Buell accessories or marketing materials. I'm hopeful this will change and we will have a decent shop close to central MD. They currently have one certified Buell Expert Tech.
Steve explained they are currently in the process of receiving merchandise from HD and that Buell merchandise will have it's own section on a wall next to the Screamin' Eagle stuff.

I am hoping to join Babired's crew of instructors for their Rider's edge program.

The first class is slated to begin in early April.
More info to follow...

BTW, they do not have the new BUELL caps, they were not aware of the promotion.

Old Glory Report:

Stopped by this past Tuesday, spoke with Kathy F., Merchandise Mgr and Brad, one of the Floor Managers, as well as met with Anthony, their webmaster. All in all, I felt like they wanted to do Buell right. Open to suggestions in supporting local Buell Owners, etc. Also confirmed desire for BatlleTrax, etc. type of events. Kathy F. showed me the latest HD merchandise catalog and she specifically showed me the new Buell clothing/caps/shirts, etc. they're going to order! =)

Offered up contacting American Sport Bike and other BWB sponsors to set up relationships between them. This would allow us to order through old Glory our stuff from our fav after market stuff!

All in all, I think Old Glory is genuinely interested in being a "different" type of Buell dealership. Time will tell!

But like anything else, it's up to us Owners to make it happen! If we don't participate and become a real presence, then they have no real business case to continue sponsoring events, etc. I realize the above comment will probably get me flamed for the next week, but "it is, what it is!" =)

Ride Safe!

BTW, since I was the "other" photographer for our Wash DC IMS group pic, I'll post those pics up to Shutterfly for y'all to enjoy. Thnx!

Hey guys. It's been a while since I've been on. I was out of town for some weekends and sick for the others. I'm up for going to Timonium on Saturday, 1230 at the Buell display right?

Oh, Bones, I'm right around the corner from you in Parkville. When I get some free weekends, we gotta hook up for some rides on this side of town.

Please bring your suggestions to Old Glory for the Grand opening. Steve and Brad really want to hear from you on what you would like to see and what kind of support you want from their dealership. I talked to Brad last weekend hopefully he'll have something set up for the Buell riders who arrive for the open house. K

Once the weather breaks, that sounds like a plan to me Midi9. Me and my Thumper will do our best to keep up with you. Hey, did you grow up in Parkville?
I was at the Timonium show on saturday also. The Harley/Buell area was so packed you could hardly get into it. And as usual, the sales staff from Baltimore HD could care less unless you were ready to sign on the line. I hope the new Old Glory HD store is as good as everyone says it is, that may be my new service dealer.

As has been discussed many times and in many threads.. a lot of dealers have thrown away a good source of customers by treating Buell customers with disdain and disinterest. Those that remain after the last 'culling' should look out for us. One of the main problems I see is that we (Buell riders) aren't like their usual bread and butter customers. Most of us want things they aren't used to providing and services that (to some of them) make little or no sense. I mean, why worry about true performance enhancement or actually knowing how to set up a suspension when the bigger bikes are .. all alike.. and don't 'Need' such things.

It's the old curse of getting paid to NOT have to work at something. It's much easier to just follow the herd and hang chrome 'enhancements' then actually learn how to set sag, rebound, compression etc. In all things Buell, we seem to require more effort from our dealers, we WANT them to ALWAYS go the extra step for us, to be willing and able to step up and offer US something different from the rest of the crowd.

The other side of this coin, is that we Buell riders don't forget these things. If we're treated poorly by a dealer, not only do we remember and avoid that shop from then on, we pass the word to the others of our ilk and they too shun that dealer. On the other hand, when we discover a 'like minded' shop. We also spread the word and over time, Buell riders begin to 'lean into' that dealer. Slowly bringing our friends over to them as well, until like Liberty in Jersey, Appleton, Hals, Stone Mountain etc. They become a focal point for Buells and their activities.

From a business standpoint, we (Buells) aren't instant cash in pocket kind of deals. We're slower to build up. But, we're also loyal in a fiercely protective way that I don't think any other brand is. We may not make up the same money as the mothership, but we are twice as loyal and willing to fight FOR our dealer. It's not uncommon for we patrons to offer assistance to 'our' dealers that is unheard of. We marshal the troops and actually will run a 'dealer' event for them. We'll give as good as we get. If they are willing to put in the time and effort.. Then so are we.

Lastly, unlike H-D stores that usually have a single geographic region to draw from. A good Buell shop will draw riders from miles away. How many of us have spent money at some of the top dealerships without ever stepping foot in them? Robin (BumbleBuell) bought her bike in North Carolina from BuckinFubba when he worked at Tilleys' rather then deal with the 'can't be done' types she was running into at other dealers a lot closer to home. How many H-D riders do you think will do that for a stock ride? How many people bought bikes from DaveS.. not because of some special paint, but because of the special treatment from him and his dealer? A dedicated soul, that truly believes in Buells will draw in the business from all over the country if they want too..

Yep, there's a lot of work we want from out dealers. But in turn, there's a lot that we'll give back. A dealer could do a lot worse then to adopt the attitude of a Liberty (Mutant), or Appleton (w/Daves) or Stone Mountain (Clown)... They really should sit down and talk with some of us I suppose..

Perhaps Old Glory could become THE Buell Shop in this area. But they have to want it.. Not just the owner, or the GM, but the staff.

Ok, rant off..

I just want to thank everyone that stopped by our Buell display at the Timonium Motorcycle Show, in particular Stevedplumber, Midi9 and Twintour, as I had the opportunity to speak with each of them at 12:30 on Saturday. With record crowds at the show, I and the rest of The Buell/H-D Store of Baltimore apologize if we didn't have a chance to meet or speak with all who attended.

Hope to see some of you out there... Ramon? Babired? Jose? Anyone?
