It was about 24° when I left work tonight and my key switch was frozen. When I did manage to get my key in, it would not turn. I sprayed deicer into the key hole and that freed everything up. Now I'm afraid the deicer may corrode the inside of the switch. Should I spray in some WD-40 or something like it or do you think it will be fine.

Hey Jonah, shouldn't be a problem, BUT if there was enough moisture to freeze it shut go gets some powdered graphite at your local parts house and give it a squirt.

Nevets is our third Bueller at work (fourth is you count our defacto-director) - We have a co-worker at work that rides every day and Jonah is giving him a run for his money. I am getting lazy. I do not want to get suited up in the mornings any more so I have not ridden to work in weeks. Like U4euh said - get the water out of the switch. Where did you get the deicer from? This is eastern NC for crying out load!

Welcome Nevets, it's good to have you here.

I suspect the deicer is mostly alcohol. Does it say on the can? Alcohol will evaporate quickly and leaves no residue behind.

Albert had some deicer in the back of his van, along with almost any thing else you could think of.
Can't let a Kawasaki out shine a Buell, or is it out stupid. Either way, gotta represent.

We have that exact version of the Nightster being set up in the service department right now. I am not keen on the lowered aspect of it, but the design is eye catching. What are the latest thoughts on a Buell SRC?

I have been going to work at 0445am since about August.I along with Carlos I haven't cared about braving the cold that early.
But Jonah has pulled us through in represntation.A rule of thumb for me is ,as long as water won't freeze it isn't that bad.But I need to up-date my cold-n-wet weather gear and Jonah want be the Lone Bueller.
Got the Muffler back on the Blast and it looks great.Tried the Up graded gasket and couldn't get the darn thing sealed.Took it apart about 5 times, then called Sheltons got the stock exhaust gasket and it sealed on the first assembly.
I'll show picks of completed bike soon.

Later all, Webe

Oldog - Have you used your No-Mar tire changer yet? I was looking at those online this past week end. I want to know if it really is that good. I am afraid of taking my 12Ss to any one because of the Amber wheels.

I can ride in this weather but I am getting lazy. It takes me 10 minutes just to suit up for a 15 minute ride. So riding to work in this weather has just lost its appeal. Now I am not afraid to ride across state in weather like this, just ask G2!

Well - That was a nice break from the cold. I was shocked that the temps were in the 40s this morning so I decided to ride to work. It was a bit of a pain suiting up and everything, but at about 5pm, looking at another couple of hours before I could leave, seeing the Uly in the parking lot seemed to make it better.

Hi guys, Sorry I haven't kept you guys up on things. I got here Sunday as they called me a couple hours before I left to tell me that due to the storms here, they had delayed cutting my power on until monday. So I waited a day. To make a long story short, I got a job, took a massive cut in pay. But if my kids come out happy and feel better, it will all be worth it. It is nice and quiet out here, although have not seen any Buells, I have met up with a couple Suzuki's and Honda's. I did go and visit the guys in this area at the Seminole Buell dealer. Nice place and really nice guys, Its cool to see the building with just Buell on the side. On that note, you guys need to tell everyone you know whom is visiting this area to stop by and support this store. This is a HD idea, and if successful could be used in lots more area's. Anyway hope everyone is well and I will keep in touch.

I was going to ask since Brankin is in the know, does the strike include Buell workers? If not, since the engines are now built at the HD plant it seems they have to be included, unless they have that many engines already built. Seems to me HD is loving this strike thing as they needed to cut production, but it would hurt Buell. Oh and the TT just seems like a S/uly combo that you can't have a passenger on...took me a few to figure out what that was stamped on the seat, looked really bad there.

Larry

Oh and I won't remind you guys how nice the weather is here...

Larry,

The strike at H-D's York assembly plant should have very little influence, if any at all, on Buell. First off, the Buell engines are made at the Capitol Drive plant in Wauwatosa, a Milwaukee suburb, along with the rest of the Sportster powertrains. All H-D York does is assemble the touring bikes, Softail's and CVO operations. Kansas City assembles the Sportster motorcycles, and builds the V-Rod powertrain and motorcycle. The Big Twin engines and transmissions are built literally a few miles up the road from Capitol Drive at the Pilgrim Road plant.
Maybe this would've been easier.
Oh yeah, & Tomahawk (Northern Wisconsin) makes the composite saddlebags, fairings & sidecars, & the Distribution Center is in Franklin, WI. & H-D is incorporated in Michigan, & ...

The only impact that could be felt is if the Capitol Drive plant went on strike, then Buell would have a supply issue for their engines. Buell itself is not a union shop. Buell, was in fact, the only non-union Harley production facility. I'm not sure if that has changed or not. A little known fact about Buell is that they moved to Walworth County Wisconsin (where East Troy is) from Mukwonago in Waukesha County to avoid being required to have the H-D unions. It seemed that the unions had an agreement that if another H-D facility were to be built in a County that there was already a H-D facility, or a County bordering such County, it would automatically be required to be a union facility.

So, unless Capitol Drive goes on strike, REST EASY - Buell will be in business!

Hi, went out to Old town tonight and there were at least 500 bikes out there. Was wild. Only saw one other Buell out there and that was a Blast, and never did see its owner.

Well thats good news about Buell, of course I wonder wear their dirt bike parts will come from.

I also have a problem I am worried about, sitting at a stop light noticed some smoke floating past, so I revved the engine, lots of smoke. Now I pull into the light in the garage and rev the engine and a fairly significant puff of gray-white smoke comes out. Oil was changed a little over 1700 miles ago, with HD oil. Seems to be running fine, but did seem to use a lot of oil for approximatly 275 miles and it went from the middle of the fill to area to just barely covering the bottom. I am guessing about a 1/4 quart...And my warranty runs out soon...kinda nervous now.

Hi Dave:

No I just got it all this AM (well yesterday actually) so no I have not used it yet, I am still trying to decide about where and how to set it up
( I'm considering asking my friends who have the garage I use IF I can drill some holes in the floor and make up a mounting plate for it that leaves the plate in the floor )

do you need to change a tire ?
( I will gladly get is sorted asap if thats the case )

I expect to have my bike back together this week end, and am getting ready to go to daytona for the races at BW.

Your'e welcome to use it, As are any of the 3C, I just PCed the PM wheels on my X1 so I understand what your on about.

Larry,
You might have over-filled the oil. Pull your air box lid and check to see if there's excessive amounts of oil laying in the base plate.

You can't always go by the dipstick, these engines will seek their proper level by pushing excess oil through the breather system.

buellbkr-I do believe M2nc was responding to your question. See above.

Larry-smoke coming out the exhaust or from somewhere else?
Glad you found a job period. That alone may help you deal with stress. Hope you and the family are able to do better in Fl.
