Or when ever the temps get up in the 60's (and gravel removed). I rode to work this morning and 28 degrees and Fog is not too pleasant. This was my 2nd ride on the Buell. Felt MUCH more comfortable on it than the shake down run. Since I'm not 100% legal I just went tooling around the neighborhood, low speed stuff. Lots of stop and go, a few long sweeping turns, etc. Just trying to get the basics down, i.e. using both brakes, getting into 1st when stopping to get away quick if needed. Had a blast, bike feels great and I know it's just the tip of the iceberg! I have my Team Oregon class the 15th, 17th and 18th. Then I'm good to roll! Here is my riding area! Don't laugh! I don't know how much experience you have, but just remember to steer with your head. Go figure, I rode to work today. Not often does a ride suck. Todays ride sucked, both ways. Front of my damm jacket had snow on it when I got to work this AM. Bad JuJu. Go figure I ride in this and don't dump it. Especially when I know the roads are not in the best riding conditions. Bad habit. Makes you swing wide in turns. Well I hope you all get a chance to do some riding this weekend. The weather is not too bad. I will be gone for a week now. I missed this ride with ya! It was a great day for it. I got out with my neighbor and we hit up HWY47 from Banks to Forest Grove, stopped for some coffee and ride discussion. Then back to Banks on the scenic route. My longest ride yet! I can't get rid of the perma-grin!!!! Tried some countersteering today too, BIG FUN! Great technique! My neighbor kept telling me how loud the Drummer is(he was in chase) = He has the new Ninja650r, nice bike, like the design. Parallel twin is cool too! Erick, welcome! Beautiful bike! I'll have to come for a ride sometime so you guys can check it out. had it striped down to the moter!!! powdercoated the cam cover so I had to remove the top end. put a red running light and an HID conversion, no problem seeing @ night now! had the rear spring coated to. and put and air box deleation kit on it. It put down 98 WHP & 85.5 LBS torque. It was a little windy for me to head out today but I'll get Julie and we'll defenatly come for a ride some time. any one know where to find a recked XB12R?   Borrowedbike Posted on Sunday, January 28, 2007 - 12:05 pm:        Erick, I'd like to talk HID with you one of these days. I'm pretty interested in doing it. All, I may head out again today, but tonight I go into tear down mode. I'm going to get the drummer on and I need to figure out what to do with the bars. I think I'll try and shorten them another 1/2 inch,but the controls are proving to be a problem. As wide as they are not the throttle cables are at the limits. (At least without taking off the air box and seeing if I can re-route somewhere in there) If I shorten the bars it will bring the cables back in on the right hand, but I dont know how I'll route the clutch. Spank - nice looking bike! We'll have to get a group together for show & tell. Rode up to Portland yesterday for quick visit to Paradise H-D and then stopped by at a friend's BMW group gettogether. Kinda cold running up I-5 against the north wind, and chilly on the way home to Salem in the dark, even with heated gear. Perfect moment at Paradise, when I pulled my bike (riding the Beemer) into the parking lot, and heard the live band playing "Freebird"! Lotsa H-D folks milling around in their clubby black & orange, with me looking distinctly non-Hog in my Aerostich survival suit! Think Spring!   Borrowedbike Posted on Monday, January 29, 2007 - 02:34 pm:        Spank, Room shouldn't be a problem, my exhaust servo motor fell off the bike last night. So did the horn, but that may be temporary. (Seriously, the drummer will be louder. Does anyone, vehicle inspections asside, see a reason for a horn?) How big is the transformer? Mark, Set up on a long is a tiny touch different. I show six preload lines, you have what, two on the nine? That means the top of my fork is 1/2" taller and the clutch cable can't run over the top of the fork, has to go either in front or behind. Puts a mean bend in it anyway I look at it. The throttle cables are giving me fits! I've pulled the controls apart 10 or 12 times now. Removed the flyscreen, horn and insturments in an attempt to get more play. The adjusters are all the way loose. Next step is to see if there is adjustment at the throttle body itself, if not I'll add a little more return spring I think. Who is the good powdercoater in town?   Spanktastic Posted on Monday, January 29, 2007 - 06:55 pm:        HID- the wires aren't long enough to fit in your air box. but it will fit behind the wind screen? if you ditch the horn, you dont have to ditch the horn compleatly if you don't want, you just have to ditch the brackitry and then wedge the horn in some place. I found that I cramed the ballist in the lower right and the horn right above it and all of the wiring over to the left. this was the only way I could see doing it and keeping the horn (horn sounds a little funny) i tried to use the horn brackitry some way for about four hours and then just gave up. (let me know I can get a lot of things for cost) as far as powdercoating goes I used Brooks Coats it out off Roy Rodgers road. he does real good work, but he is expensive. I spent about $1,700 on powder coating, but that was with two diferent powder charges because he had to order special colors. and I had to pay a set up fee just for a little bit of red, for the rear spring. all to gether it was four different colors and a lot of parts. when you see the bike you will know the extent of the powdercoating. (if you get shit done by brooks let me know because he will give me a discount) portland powdercoating does good cheap work. and I'm sure with some time I could find a couple of more places. let me know and we can get together. My biggest beef with the XBS front end is that H-D "inspired" handlebar clamp configuration, and limited clearances available for running those cables & controls wiring. I've got my fork preload cranked down to 1 line showing on the 44mm Showas now on the bike (my spare forks set).
