Phil,
What did you use to get the green letters off the cat eye mirrors?

I left it. I had thought of trying a cleaner to remove it, but decided it was not that noticable.

Mark, I am working on it. My wife is still not too sure. She likes the idea though. I took my class at Chemeketa as well. It seemed to be the only place I could get in last summer.

I will probably head over to Paradise just to take a look this weekend. If its anything like last weekend then there is not much to look at. More or less just an excuse to go riding (if it's not raining.

Looks like decent weather if the fog clears out. I'm thinking I might have to try for a run to Latus just for a destination to ride. Haven't been there in 2 yrs. Let me know if you're interested. I'm not 100% sure I can get out yet, but I am thinking I'll try to leave around 1:00.

I just got back from Paradise. Not much there as far as Buell. Pretty much the same as last weekend.

I didn't get out today anyway. I'm going tomorrow instead. Weather looks to be the same so it should be decent.

I can ride with you to Latus if you want. I am pretty much free tomorrow. Let me know what time and I will meet you at Albertson by Baseline/Cornelius pass.

I was bored tonight, so I did some Photo Shop work to my Bike. I wanted to see what it would look like after I get my Drummer SS in March, change to black plastics and remove the cheese grater.

Cord, I am about a month out before I will be ordering my new plastics from Paradise. At that time I will be more then willing to sell them to you. I looked on E-bay and the people there get way too carried away with bidding. Some of the black plastics I was watching ended up selling for more then buying new.

Phil, thanks for going on a ride today. it's nice to be able to get out on the weekends and get away from everything for a few hours. Even if it is cold!

Julie, it was nice meeting you and seeing some of the mods on your bike. I will be looking for some of that Buell frame paint so I can match my tail section with my frame.

sorry i missed hooking up with everyone this weekend - had to work most of it, and sitting here in the office wishing i was riding when i'm working is nowhere near as fun as actually riding...

xbswede - i dig the mods you're planning in your photoshop pic! i'm a huge fan of that stripped down minimal look.

All,
Sorry I missed the ride today...

Aron,
I happen to know for a fact Daves has (or had) a set of Black plastic he took off a long to convert to Cherry bomb red in November. Give the man a chance to win your business.

Mark,
Thanks for the great deal on the bars! There on, but I'm going to tear it back down an tweak it a bit. I rode around the block and want to tilt them just a bit more forward. I think I'm going to need to really pay attention to the cables, the throttle cables seem a bit tight, and I may need to roll the banjo fitting for the front brake. More involved than I have the patience for tonight.

Thanks Aatch, this Buell stuff is getting addictive.

Paul, I will give Daves a call and see what he has.

Paul, I am not sure if it will fit. it may be just a tad short. But here is a picture with the TT seat cloned onto the bike.

Aron, you are definitely more swede than me. I could not post till now cause I was thawing, but a good ride none the less. It will be nice once my cold weather pants arrive. Can't wait till good weather and no more gravel on the roads.

Julie, thanx for stopping by. Bike sounded good, hope you found a good straight road to dyno on.

Paul,

Glad the bars are working for ya. IIRC didn't tweak the cables much when I put the Pro Tapers on, besides push/pulling the throttle cables a bit where they run between triple clamp top. That brake line banjo fitting was a nuisance, but then I never did the correct final step by changing the banjo orientation.

I tried the bars flat (orientation line at handlebar center straight up), rotated back (wrists down), and rotated forward (elbows up). All positions worked OK, but it's a matter of personal ergonomics and intended use.

Phil, I am glad that you ordered some all weather riding pants. It was painful watching you ride in jeans, especially during the second half of the ride.

Paul, I emailed Daves and he no longer has the plastics but can get me some at a 10% discount. This should more then make up for shipping. So I will give it a shot and see how it works out in a few weeks.

Swede and Phil, nice meeting you guys too! So, the ride got cold as the day went on : ) I did find some areas to test my bike and I am loving how smooth it is, although I didn't hit top speed (cold out and I wasn't really dressed for it). I can't wait to get it on the track.

Aron,
Thought I read the Long and the TT are the same seat. Have you seen the top with the red "No Riders" symbol? : ) I'm also considering polishing the side rails and tail section after I cut it, wonder if they are the same material?

Mark,
I may adopt the "nuisance stance" on that banjo fitting. Looks bad where it's at now, but do I really want to open up the lines and let air in my front brakes?. Hmmmmm Risk > reward???

Paul, I will stick with the seat I have for now. I do like the idea of the "No Riders" symbol. If I do ever change seats it will have to be one that has at least the same height if not taller. The TT might be the same. I will have to sit on one next time and see how it feels.

Julie, top speed is hard to find on these roads. Especially this time of year. Track sounds like a safer place. of course when I go to visit my mother in Harney County (Burns) I am sure I will see what the bike can do. From Bend to Burns is 132 miles of straight nothing.

I grew up in a small town where you could pick any road half mile out of town and choose how many telephone poles or ditch banks you wanted to race to. Didn't have to worry about cops so much as some one telling your parents. Now that I'm older it is usually a parent or uncle that I'm racing so all we have to worry about is my former classmate who is the cop.

I've got a buddy in Prineville... Perhaps a spring trip from P-town to Salem, East on 22 to "somewhere" a night with respective Mother/Buddy/Relatives and a return the next day Via 26 is in order?

Careful mapping of the trip could result in a couple Salt Flat streches and a maximum amount of twisties...

Hey folks - if you're heading down here to "so-lame", then it's worth the extra time to use US20 to climb towards Santiam Pass, Bend, and beyond.

Great section of twisties (starts at 44°23'48.98"N, 122°26'48.06"W) though it can get bogged down by RVs if unlucky.

This route is primo mid summer, or Sunday morning on Labor Day weekend!

I have heard this road has a ton of twisties. I have never been on it though.

It would be a nice 1/2 day trip or so.
