Head north out of Hartland parallel to 83 to avoid NorthLake speed traps and get in a few tire warming sweepers. Dumps you into the sound end of the Hill area.

I didnt say the food sucked at the mineshaft..it just wasnt what I expected. My expectations were running high based on a few reviews & I expected more.

What about The Machine Shed on the north side of 94 just east/south of 16? Its like cracker barrel but the portions are a bit bigger & its pretty cheap. Also they dont discriminate against bikers.

Dyna...The place in Wausau is the Wausau Mine. It was a poker stop last year on Hal's KMC HOG Statewide Poker Run. Quite enjoyable. Complete with a Miner Dummy sitting at the bar. LOL

I agree the Mineshaft is great. Food and atmosphere are both right up there. Just wonder about the availability of a large table on a Sunday Afternoon. Comments anyone?

Think I will make a dry run tomorrow and check the times and mileage. Figure with one or two gas/rest stops before Hartford, we shouldn't lose anyone.

I was there on a Saturday afternoon & it was maybe 1/3rd full. I imagine Sunday afternoon would be similar.

They accept but don't require reservations, but they do get a little busy on Sunday mornings. Not sure when they slow down.

Dyna,
Sunday's are a different animal there, breakfast buffet followed by brunch/lunch buffet, wall to wall mouths at times. Saturdays are much calmer.

this is starting to sound like a HOG run . . . .my vote is to ride the wheels off my bike in the company of some like-minded individuals, grab something quick and greasy that I can eat outside, and ride some more . . . .. (smile)

Yep, Bomber is a true Windy City rider.... you grab a Gatorade, Snickers & Slim Jim while gassing up the bike and yourself:) Then it's back on the road for more concrete carving. I remember some of the first rides with those boys. The only food stop was the free hot dogs at Sauk Prairie!

I love when us like minded health food types gather....I've cut out the Slim Jims. I find the word "slim" simply doesn't work.

Bomber is still spoiled from the first Prairie DuChein ride when We took him to Pete's hamburger stand.

CJ...Agree the kid is cute, but I think he is a poser!!!

Bomber...We think alike and now you know why I ride alone. If it doesn't fit in my tank bag, I don't need to eat it. Much prefer a self-inflicted picnic at a scenic spot. Great for the mind and soul.

Bomber,
Don't worry, the PDC run is only about a month and a half away! Last Sunday of June! Put away the metamusil(sp) and get ready for a Pete burger!
Actually I have a different plan for this year. Meet at the Pizza Hut, ride leaves at noon SHARP, go for a ride thru the twisties and then go to a bar on the river that a friend, coworker is part owner of for food and bullshit time! Sound OK?

Dave

Winging it is way more fun to me than planned, it's the unplanned that turns out to be the most fun !!! Plan a start and meet time, and take it from there without so much over planning !! When everyone's hungry enought to bitch, we can stop Wherever !!!

Ride Hard, Ride Short!

I say Ride Hard, Ride Far !!!!

But then I'm younger than you Bomber, LOL

Sounds great! I may be able to talk my wingman (wife) into comin along . . .. if that works out, we'll ride up the day before, as a forced march doesn't appeal to her much . . . I'll put away the metamusical (sp?), trusting that the pipes will be cleaned well soon (grin)
