the ride sounds like a gas . . . .. . any chance the first leg would be southwesterly toward Lake Geneva or sumpin, so's an old slow guy from the flatlands might hook up with ya?

Bomber...Will put your request in tonight. Figure if the route gets planned well enough, Mennis might even sleep in and wait for us to pass.

Mennis...Don't get upset. That was just a new girl friend joke.

Bomber....I was thinking of a route south into the Lake Geneva area (I have to work til 10am). Then north on Cty. H to Elkhorn. Hooking up with the southern Kettle unit, then turning north. I'm hoping from some input on the Holy Hill area from these more familiar (Bill???).

Bill....I wish I could sleep in for a change. I'll have to work from 0800 'til 1000. I'll be looking to connect in this area as well.

Lake...Have been playing with the map today. Will discuss tonight. Am so damn used to riding alone on weekdays (read: no traffic and quite spirited) that I am clueless how long it takes to get from place to place around here, especially with a group. That's why I always let you guys lead.

HELP...I need some recommendations for a lunch stop between Oconomowoc (Hwy 67) and Delafield/Hartland (Hwy 83) for this Sunday's Brew City Ride.

The morning route will be through the Lower Kettle and the afternoon ride will be through the Holy Hill area.

As there are a number of riders that can't make the morning route but would like to meet up with us for the afternoon segment, I will be posting and emailing the basic route info to all.

Kindly send your recommendations with location to me via email to prevent any possible confusion. I will then recon the area and advise.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation regarding this matter.

Bill

Tradition says to just go another 15-30 minutes and hit the Mineshaft in Hartford. Then take hwy-K south from the east end of town to the Hill area.

If you're there on a Sunday they have a good buffet/brunch/all-u-can-eat deal going on. After that you'll be Buellin' & Belchin'

If you want to stay in Oconomowoc then go to the Depot in town right next to the railroad tracks, just south of hwy-16.

If you want to get knarley with the Hill bikers out for the day then hit the bar/tavern/foodstop just east of the Holy Hill towers a mile or so. Right near the turn off 67 towards Hogsback.

If none of those makes you happy then there's a Burger King near the intersection of 83 and I-94. :)

Bill, there is only maybe a 10 mile ride between Oconomowoc & Hartland & not much between em.

Martys pizza right on the south side of 83 behind the gas station is pretty damn good.

I was dissapointed in the mineshaft. Thought it would be something a little better. Personally I prefer Dennys. There is a place up in Wausau that has a name something like the Mineshaft. That place is cool. It actually like you are down in a mine...dark, no windows..great atmosphere & the food was excellent. Thats what I thought it was gonna be like..but not even close.

Thanks Mike...Let's keep the suggestions and recommendations coming. Might just as well do this the democratic way and vote on it.

Only comment about a lunch stop north of Hwy 16 is that the intent was to divide the ride at around the half way point so those that can't make the morning segment can catch up and still get a decent ride in. Not to mention provide nourishment for those that made the morning segment.

Just thinking out loud. Feel free to comment.

The Lakes right on 16 in Oconomowoc just past or before George Web used to be okay to good before they burned down a year or two ago. Haven't been there since they rebuilt it.

All kinds of fast food joints in Oconomowoc on the east end of town.

There's a Hardy's in Hartland next to 16, and a Cousins Subs over by the PigglyWiggly on the southwest corner of Hartland. Turn off 83 northbound at the gas station just south of 16 then zig-zag to the Pig. This is the road where they used to have the Corvette bodies sticking out of the ground at a body shop.
