I'm back from Fla. The weather in Orlando was great, sunny high's in the upper 80's. The weather in Daytona Beach sucked, something like 5 inches of rain during bike week. The racing on the 9th was awesome until the down-pour. Those Boxer's made some great noise. Kind of like a hive of angry killer bee's as they went by and actually made the grand stand vibrate. I don't know if its a Bike Week thing, but rider's in Florida seem to has a total disregard for protective gear. I've never seen so many people riding in shorts and tee's.....no helmet.

I got out for a ride today. Sure is nice to feel the tug of the Buell again. My bike is a mess though, lots of salty melt-off on the roads. I gave it a quick hose-off when I got home, it was getting to dark to give it a good scrub. Tomorrow it'll get some TLC with a sponge and bubble bath, for now ridden hard and put away wet will have to do.

Likewise! First time ever on the new 9S! WOW! This bike is AWESOME, and the race kit sounds fantastic. Now I'm not sure if the X1 is getting any attention this summer. I still cant wipe the grin off my face.

Anyone know if PM wheels are repairable? I hit a huge freaking pothole today on the 427 that put a ding in the left side of my front rim. The size of the ding....its visable from a distance, the tire is still holding air (if that counts for anything)and there is no perceivable vibration or wobble to the front end. Are there any good wheel repair shops in the GTA?

A big thanks to John at "Bent Bikes" in Mississauga. He fixed my rim with little cosmetic damage. Who's up for a ride? I've got new tires and brake pads to scuff in.

56 more days till Mosport!

Cayuga Track Days!!!

Caboose et al,

Sturgess Cycle's sponsoring two Cayuga Track Days this summer: June 11 and August 20.

Reg is $125/day or $200 for both. Good deal. They say they limit to 40 riders and there's no class structure: just a free for all... :) :) :) Within safe a prudent "racing" limits, I'm sure....

I'm schedded for both....

Man, the warmth felt good yesterday! Tires scrubbed nicely to the edges..... :)

later budds,
Lornce

The only trackday I'll attending with my Buell this year is the DOCC Mosport Rally. Reason being, I'm running in the SuperMoto Series with my...ahem...Honda CRF450R. I'd like to have my cake and eat it too, but I'm commited to this series and any form of racing ain't cheap!

Caboose,

Super-Moto? CRF450R? You lucky-dog-wild-man!

I'll look forward to watching you go at it.... and mixing it up on our Buells!

Be afraid.... be very afraid!!

Damn...I've got plans tomorrow to take the CRF450R to St.Williams. I've never been to that restaurant, but nothing like a good breakfast to start a great days of riding.

Anybody make it to the Buell demo ride at Clare's yesterday? I did. Took out a race kitted XB9R and a bone stock XB9S. The race kit makes a HUGE differance! Great bikes, but I'm not in any hurry to trade in my X1. The new Buell's are so much more refined than the tubers'. Quicker acceleration, less vibration, smoother shifting. I still like the "hot rod" feel of my X1.

Lornce, shit! i just read your message, and there is no way i can make it out there in time. you have my cell number, if you ride to toronto, give me a call.

Totally agree Caboose!, i have both a kitted 9s and the "hot rod". The X1 one is far more fun, but the 9s will make a far better track bike.

Lawrence lead an excellent ride; Left Hamilton via Snake Road, followed the Niagra escarpment to Campbellville, on to Terra Cotta, Georgetown, Belfoutain, Forks of the Credit, Hockley Valley. Probably the best route in Ontario?
Only soiled my pants twice, passed a car going into a curve (trying to keep up) and the curve was tighter then I thought, and a couple of rear wheel slides on sand (Rattlesnake Park, and the sharp switchback on Forks of Credit). There was a LOT of bikes at Belfoutain, but only saw one police car all day! Great bunch of guys to ride with....
Thanks Lawrence!
John

Charity Ride For Cancer Saturday May 3rd.

Announcement forwarded for Steffi, a concerned Toronto
Airhead.

Hey folks,
My buddy Dennis (Indian rider and owner of Ra on
Ronces) has organized a ride to fundraise for Princess
Margaret's Hospital Foundation, on Sat. May 3, 2003.
Registration opens 9:00am at RA
411 Roncesvalles Ave.
(416) 535-0891
$35.00 registration/pledge per rider
It'll hopefully be a nice day to ride, and it's for a
good cause, and a great opportunity to show off our old
beauties amid the boring new Harley's and Indian's!
See y'all soon,
STeffi

Apparently this is a Poker Run heading off to some fine
riding roads along the Niagara Escarpment etc. NOT a
parade. Sounds like a lotta fun and it's for a good
cause. I'm goin and it'd be great to have some of you
folks along for the fun too.

best,
Lawrence

Okay, so folks are meeting for a 9:30 breakfast at Hamilton's West Town restaurant on Sunday May 4th. Much ride departs at 10:30.

My buddy Paul Farrauto will lead us along some of the Niagara Escarpments most scenic and entertaining roads on our way to Niagara on the Lake. We'll be dropping in on a friend's 1:00 art showing with a reception at 2:00. Possible winery tour to follow...

:)

I love spring,
Lornce

Oh yea, the West Town's easy to find.... Exit 403 at Main St. East.... Second light right on Locke St.... West Town's about four blocks down Locke on the right.... Near all the cool bikes.

:)
