I got too late of a start after spending WAY too long to get the white wheels clean when I washed it this afternoon. Tried to get a haircut, but was too late. Got too cold for what I was wearing not long after that. Sad to say, but what that translates to is about 20 more than the 69 miles I put on to your place and back for Turkey Day. Thanks for coming down.   Sportymark Posted on Sunday, November 26, 2006 - 05:58 pm:        Well I settled up and hit a doctor today...had not been able to get a good nights sleep since Tuesday, that was making worse than the actual sickness. ended up with a severe sinus infection but caught it before it hit my lungs. On the bike, I got the new headlight mounts trimmed and the fork stops drilled and tapped Waiting on the caliepr to arrive and hopefully find a rotor. The new tranny is patiently waiting in my living room. My plan is to swap out the trannys when I change the engine oil after the 500 break in miles. Seems like we aren't the only ones spending time in the hospital. Webe- Sorry to hear of your loss, I am glad you have the great support of some great people. Ulywife and M2nc- It seems you guys are going through more than your fair share of things and as usual you guys seem to stick together and just roll right through the tough stuff. I am glad to see that C3 is running strong. I am hoping to join you for Daytona this year but I am doubtful of IMS as we are going to be in Bethesda the weekend before. And honestly I am trying to spend some time with my mom as she seems to be taking the losses she has had this year toughly. As for Brankin- took you long enough, the Buell was neglected WAY to long. Take care and keep your chin up.   Zxzer04 Posted on Monday, November 27, 2006 - 12:37 pm:        Hi Kristy, we are doing pretty well. No real complaints considering everything. As for Aaron he is doing pretty well, he spent a few days in the hospital weekend before last. A lot of it seems to be because he is weak from lying around to much, so we have taken to making him accompany us on short walks. The Bethesda trip is a check up. I have been working 2 jobs and that is wearing thin but we really can't complain. There are those who have it alot worse. We did trade our Element in on a Durango as we need the space badly and it was an unbelievably good deal. Oh and we are looking to move to Florida still, but it will be after Daytona. So C3 will hopefully have a place to stay next year. As for my Mom, she lost my Grandfather and my Step-Dad this year and she feels the loss alot more than I do as I am always so busy I don't have time to think on it. Anyway, I try to ride as much as possible, and I still love my Bolt(Got to get a TPS reset and a new tank protector). Spike is off playing in the dirt most of the time, He put that pretty new exhaust on and isn't showing it off enough. Take care, Larry.   Wes12185 Posted on Monday, November 27, 2006 - 06:01 pm:        So, I was going about my normal monday morning routine(no, I'm not dead by the way), when I hop on the bike and hit the starter. It slowly turns over but doesn't catch, and then.... clickclickclickclickclickclickclick. Apparantly whatever short I still have in my electrical system drains the battery beyond starting after 5 days (tuesday night before break to monday morning). So, school is school and I figure getting it started will recharge the battery and get us on our normal routine of struggling every morning to start and being fine after that. So I put it into 2nd gear after deciding to try a push start, hold in the clutch, and set it off down the giant hill that is my driveway. Then I noticed something else funny. 2nd gear/clutch in delivers a lot more resistance then neutral/clutch out. This doesn't seem normal. The clutch is fully engaging/disengaging when the engine is running because it shifts normally. Are they just designed like that to stop you from push starting or what? Also, I've noticed that even in neutral, the bike tends to start better with the clutch in then the clutch out. Anyways, if anyone has any ideas I'm all ears, because I am absolutely out of ideas other then replacing the battery and trying to trade it in, hoping whatever dealership doesn't notice.   Jlnance Posted on Monday, November 27, 2006 - 06:21 pm:        Hey Wes, I was just thinking about you the other day. It is difficult to push start the bikes. And yes, it's a lot easier to push them in Neutral than it is to pull the clutch and push them. Batteries do go bad. I've got a trickle charger if you want to use it. I'm not sure how long it would take to charge up a good battery, but I would think overnight would work.   Wes12185 Posted on Monday, November 27, 2006 - 06:30 pm:        Do they do that because Buells can be damaged by push-starts, or is it just a by-product of the tranny? The battery was brand new as of june or july, whenever I bought it. They shouldn't go bad that fast should they? I'm pretty sure its an electrical issue still, probably the same short that melted the housing we fixed a while back.   Nutsnbolt Posted on Monday, November 27, 2006 - 06:41 pm:        It's not just Buells. It's, as far as I'm concerned... All bikes. My ducati was a BEAR to bump start while pushing with clutch in. So was the MZ. I think that it's just a byproduct of the tranny. I used to push it Neutral to build up speed, clutch it pop to 2nd and drop the clutch. Was much easier. Rarely need a hill doing it that way. I could do it just running it and hoping on it. Plus, I had asked a tech about this before with my DUC and he tried to explain to me that when the bike is off, everything is harder, including free resistance with the clutch being engaged. Could be blowing smoke up my tail pipe but.... He seemed to be right. Hell, i bought it. Buell does not actually make the schedule until the Dealer show in January. However, Gary takes my requests and works with us as much as possible. We have always gotten the dates we asked for in the past. Blessings and wishes to you and your family. Got the bike running properly, turned out to be high beam headlight wires were chaffed, and I had put the diodes in backwards. A phone photo from Mike and I playing in the mud. We came around a corner on a dirt road and what did we find? About a 60 foot section of the road covered with the overflow from the creek next to it. But the water was rushing across the road. Not enough distance to stop, gas it, lean back back and get wet. Mike on the other hand decided to play for a while. Whilst I wanted to, I JUST got the bike running, so two times across it was enough for me. Not clear, but you get the point, it was a camera-phone shot. Mike scared the hell outta me when he just about looped it. The last thing I seen was the bike stand straight up, his leg come off, then dissappeared behind a bush, oh crap!! I thought. He came home last night...wasn't much else they could do until the death certificate arrives. He took today off too. He was beginning to have 'bike withdrawal pains'. He spent the day riding. He thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers. Thanks to Jim, Kristi, Carlos and others who came to see us in Henderson. It really made Mark feel good. I looked at the manual and what I've found are the following directions: 1. Remove chin fairing. 2. Remove front sprocket cover. 3. Remove idler pulley. 4. Loosen front muffler mount fastener, but do not remove. 5. Remove front and rear muffler straps. 6. Loosen Torca clamp. 7. Disconnect interactive exhaust cable and remove muffler. NOTE: Always replace the front muffler strap. There is a diagram and more relative information if you want it. I can see if Carlos has the scanner hooked up and e-mail you more specific information if you want. There are also muffler removal directions regarding the Front Muffler Mount, Rear Muffler Bracket and Exhaust Header. Do you need these directions as well? It starts talking about oil feed lines, oil reservoir, draining oil, etc. Not sure if this helps, but it's what I've found so far.
