Just got in after a case of beers, I know not real responsible but I stopped drinkin long before I left. The wind is CRAZY out tonight, it was blowing my 2500 Chevy truck all over. Not normal for how heavy that pig is. have a pretty big honey do list tomorrow but if it is nice I would love to go out and take advantage. Everything is up in the air because of the weather. I'll check again in the morning if I do go out I would love some company specially another tuber! See ya!

For those of you who are calling it quits until spring, I'm working to schedule a winterizing "Tech Talk" at the HD of Frederick dealership in a week or two.

Please let me know if you are interested as this will take one of the techs away from his Saturday duties to spend time with us.

I hope everyone had a good summer, we have a lot planned for next year so stay tuned for more info.

I want to thank everyone who attended our rides, meetings and events, I had a great time and hope you did also. If you are a year round moto-enthusiast, let me know so we can get together and ride some.

Gotta go, it a nice day and I just found a sweet pair of winter gloves to try out.

Ride safe,
-Ras

I have been busy rebuilding my toilet so riding today isn't looking good. I can't say I'm having fun doing what I'm doing but I will probably sit on her later and make some motor sounds.

Ras, I would be interested in a winterization process. Being my first winter with a street bike it would be good to get a few pointers. Probably gonna put it away soon after I make a set of stands. I'm itchin to get the paint started and give it a good once over.

In December the flat track races in Timonium get started again. I'll have to check with the Baltimore Trail Riders and get a date. If you haven't gone to it its a real blast watchin close racing on a 1/10th mile cement indoor track. Cory Texter from Lancaster HD usually has his Blast powered bike there. No classes above 750cc so no Buells except the Blast. If you have a dirt bike and feel up to the challenge just get a set of flat track tires (street tires for the cement) and line up. I would but I sold my MXer for the M2. If anyone has a Honda XR100 they have an adult class that is like watching a bear on a tricycle. I don't remember the details but the proceeds go to a charity.

Stay safe and stay warm

Ras,

I'm up for learning how to winterize the bike. I'm glad I didn't do it earlier, my car is in the shop for the week, so I am bundling up and riding into work (Towson to Columbia) every day. It should be funny on Tuesday when I am wearing my costume to work. But my sister and parents want to winterize their bikes too, so as long as I can do mine, I can do theirs. Oh, and since you had an old Honda, how difficult is it to replace the drive chain? My dad's fell apart during a ride last week.

Babired, I would love to get together, I will probably put her up for the winter soon, but look me up in the spring, I like to ride toward the west but recently stumbled onto some great local roads in Lancaster County I want to "explore"

Ras, I'm glad Kathy passed the class! If she wants I'll work with her next spring, got a new thing, I want to practice and I need some riders, the beginning of October I rode with Stayin safe MC training they are considering me to teach with them for 07 its on the road with radios and some parking lot practice with throttle steering and stuff like that. Would Kathy be interested? This is to help me coach in a whole new way.
Deltablue neither of my bikes go up for the winter! one day I will get heated riding gear, but I try and ride at least one time Jan, and in Feb. I envy you living up there! K

Envy is nice, but it doesn't help with the gas prices I pay commuting to the big city every day, but yeah I like living up here too. My bike doesn't really go up either, but I don't put winter oil in it, so I avoid riding when it is really cold. Any time some Buells want to head up this way I'm willing to come out and play. I would love to get a local BRAG chapter going. Scott at Baltimore is trying to reinstate that chapter. Happy riding.

My K said she would be more than happy to be your student next spring, I volunteer too!

Deltablue - Should I count you in for the Tech Talk? I know you're relatively far away...

I'll be speaking with the service manager today to work out a date for this.

Hey ras, Getting the radio gear together now just tell her to prepare for radio tweaking when we do this so we will both be learning hopefully I'll have enough for 2 other riders so we can ride and practice other stuff on the road, riders need full face helmets for the speakers and a safe pocket for the radio cool we'll go riding and help each other K

Bullseye, thank you for your interest, I would love to know about your equipment and compare, right now I'm setting up with Cobra 2 way radios and IMC speaker headsets. Some hazards that may come with practice, me practicing too, is radio technicalities, my coaching, word goofs. I've been coaching on the parking lot so many years I have to get away from parking lot mentality. Wished it was spring instead of Fall

Babired, I meant that I have a full face helmet and a good pocket. Sorry for the mis-Q. I don't regularly ride with anyone so radios are a way off for now.

I understand the importance of slow parking lot maneuvers and I have done a few to get used to the bike. I raced MX for a few years and rode dirt for a while before ever lining up. I would feel better getting instruction and pointers on the fly than after a group does it. Personal instruction is EXPENSIVE and hard to come by. MX schools are rediculous and street is even worse. If I had to do it in the middle of December behind a snowplow I would probably jump at the chance.

Hi Bullseye sorry for the mis-Q had a blonde moment and if you're interested in helping out I'm interested in coaching this new way, this is a first time for me, and I do want to get hired by the company that is considering me, so I wouldn't think to charge any money. Any feed back from you Kathy or Ras back to me on how to coach is a must. My e-mail is babired@msn.com My tuber is in the shop getting a new ignition switch, and my XB has a sticky valve stem on the front tire, the tires on the XB are pretty worn down. I have really been on top of the air pressure in the front tire. If you want to meet I'll be at Bob's BMW on November 18th in the morning. He is having open house for police, firefighter riders and MSF coaches free food and prizes. K

On a sadder note:

FATAL COLLISION: ON 10/31/06 at 1651 hours Trooper J. Wilson of the Maryland State Police, La Plata Barrack, responded to the intersection of north bound Route 5 and Zekiah Drive for a reported motor vehicle
collision. Investigation revealed that a 2000 Buell motorcycle, operated by William Bowling Jr., 36, of La Plata, was traveling north on Route 5 when a 2001 Toyota Avalon operated by Sandra Milagros Marrero-Jarmon, 56, of Waldorf, attempted to cross from south bound Route 5 to Zekiah Drive and entered north bound Route 5 into the path of the motorcycle. The motorcycle subsequently struck the passenger vehicle. Bowling was ejected from the motorcycle.

Bowling received incapacitating injuries and was flown to Prince George's Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Marrero-Jarmon and passenger Obdulia Marrero, 81 years, of Waldorf were transported to Civista Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing at this time.

I believe he rode with DCBRAG a couple of times, I don't remember him by name.

The mechanics at Ft Washington knew who he was, actually it was the service manager that told me about it last Saturday. Someone posted it to the yahoogroup earlier, too.

Godspeed.

The BUELL logo is very real. I have tons of pictures.

I am very sad to hear the news about Mr. Bowling. I know the company he worked for and can only guess that he was a wonderful person.

His family will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Do you know of any rides honoring veterans going on this weekend in your area? I will be riding the Uly up to visit my son this weekend and was hoping to catch something going on.
