Thanks everyone. First, the logo wasn't my idea, just my touch in putting it together. : )

Again, thank you for all the kind words. It has been my honor and privilege to serve in the Marines for 20 years. I know that when I stop and think about it, I will miss it a great deal.

As for my future employment, I will be working for a company in the oil industry, installing monitoring equipment, servers, and other oilfield technology on oil rigs. For me it's a welcomed change. : )

Southern Marine,
What else can I say? It seems everyone has said about everything that there is to say. But I must say, all the best to you and your family, and keep in touch!

It's beginning to look a lot like Halloween...
It's the most wonderful time of the year...

SM - I have only met you once but I wish you the very best on your move and new job.
And like everyone has said "Thank You!"

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the new the ride. : ) One thing about having a bike with having a factory exhaust on it(Un-like the M2). You ear's don't ring for the next 24 hrs after a long ride.

Yes Sir I am! What I think is cool is the first road it was on was the "Tail of the Dragon". It was like riding it on a road that it was built for.

Rubberdown, thanks for sending me Neil's message. I did not see it until this morning. I sure would like to see him again. Depends on alot of "ifs". Probably won't make it, but I'll give you a buzz just in case I decide to haul it outta here.

I got the bags on the Uly fixed. At first I tried to do it w/o loosening anything because I didn't want to break all the loctite loose. I had my 2 hands, and rebecca's 2 hands, and if we had just had 1 other hand I think we could have done it. But alas, we came up short.

Then I noticed the most amazing thing. They didn't loctite the bolts when they put them on! So I don't have to worry about loosening them all up. I had everything bolted together about 10 minutes later. It still has no loctite, but it hasn't vibrated apart in the last 13k miles so I'm not too worried about it.

Rubberdown, I actually turned Schlumberger down after they lied to me about their hiring procedures. I opted to go with MD Totco (Martin-Decker and Technical Oil Tool Corporation), who is actually owned by National Oilwell Varco. They have been around for a while too. I'm looking forward to it. Right now our biggest problem is trying to find a place to live out there.

Here's another I like at the top of nice little hill climb. The last pic in the above post is looking up from the climb to the bike. This pic is looking down. The bike just motored right up. Cool thing about trails is that there are no straight ones and every curve is a power slide with this beast.

P.S. Happy Halloween!!

Mindvernev, I wasn't logged in. Ignore me please.

Believe me Mike, while updating the RAN, I learned A LOT about BadWeb that I didn't know prior! I actually got myself locked out once I was done with the initial update! I figured they got what they wanted and now had had enough of me and kicked me out

listen you guys may want to check out Court's area and put in your .02 cents. It is the best thread I have been on or read since being on here.

The input has been phenominal.

By the way... Sportymark, I have been meaning to talk to you about a Sportster. I have been given a great opportuity to stay at home for a while. I'm looking for a good project. You sportster has kind of inspired me. (What's my opportunity?) As most of you may know, my wife is an Active Duty Marine. Well, on top of that, she's also an instructor. Things are getting kinda weird with the Marines ( i wont go too far into it ) but I have been asked to not work to accomidate for her schedule and the needs of the Marine Corps.
Sooooooo. Kind of a hard thing to wrap your head around but, I'll be home for a while.

Anyway, I'm looking for a project.

You poor, poor guy! If I remember correctly, only 1 little one home and the others in school? I'm sure you'll find something to fill your time!!

BTW - your decals and magnet are ready. Hopefully we'll get to see you sometime soon to give them to you.

Yeah Any sporty Questions feel free to fire them off... I would love to see a cafe'ed sporty setup for twisties, or hell anything that is not stock!

I'm currently looking at a few basket case projects but wonder if I should just get a whole bike for a bit more? Since what I plan on doing is hacking and cutting, anyway?

I am an avid anti-stock guy. However, the irony in all this is that my xb9 is all stock aside from the shiny sticker and frame pucks.

However, I really like the way the sporty's look all unsportied out. Cafe'ed though.... I never thought of it that way. That sounds interesting. I always liked the way the old Ducati's looked as cafe racers.

If you happen to see a bike out your way, that I might be interested in, would ya let me know? You can pm me about it either way.

Anyway, I would really like you advice on this, before I do something stupid and get in over my head. Can I wrench? Yeah. I figure that's usually the first question asked. I thought I'd get it out of the way, right off.

Later

Mark
