At the last minute I met my old riding buddy(from Indiana) at Deals Gap. Which just happens to be exactly half way between us! Go figure. The M2 was running great until I got there and ran into some problems. Spark plug wire was rubbed through on the horn and the rear shock was making a puddle where I parked it. Doh! We limped it to Smokey Mountain Harley / Buell to see it they would have parts for the old girl. Nope...... To make a long story short I purchased this!!!!

New 2006 XB12Ss. I love it! I picked it up Monday night and I have 960 miles on it Thursday afternoon. No I did not trade in the M2..... My family and I are driving up there to pick her up and bring her home. I am going to try to keep them both.

or may be I should change it to this.

Sorry for the cross post but I knew it would be appreciated here....
"SNIP" Deals Gap - 1,000 miles, 33,708 corners in 24 hours!
Although we want to stress, due to the fact that this ride **requires** a pace above the posted speed limits for the entire time
(unlike the NYC-1000 and DC-1000 routing that allowed an average near 50 mph) and as such, we will not offer it as an IBA ride, it is newsworthy for the long distance world.
On that note...Rick Pepin has completed 106 laps (a little over 1,000 miles) riding, of all things, a Honda Gold Wing (GL1800) on a very winding road the
locals call "The Tail of the Dragon".

According to our own Sheila Winnie, the ride was completely documented to the highest standards and there is no doubt Rick did it! Wow! "end snip"

DAMN I knew I would love a new gold wing someday when I'm old and gray, and the wife thinks I'm nuts.

I've never ridden an Ss, but I've sat on one. It fits me a lot better than the S. I liked it a lot.

Spike - I wish I could!

Cyclone - Great bike, but leave the handle alone. I did.

Rubberdown - I need pictures!!! By the way did you trade in the ST?

Deal's Gap 1000 sound like fun. When are they doing it again?

I have been grounded for this week and it will probably be after next week before I can ride again. I did get a chance to see my heart in action today though. Modern technology is a wonderful thing. All good, we are just trying to rule out any major stuff. Because of the family history and the symptoms I have had over the last week the doctors did not want to miss anything so I went in today for an exploratory Cardiac Catheterization. Its kind of cool looking at your heart at work. No problems found so back to the drawing board on what the problem is, but its not the heart. A big relief considering the week we have had. I can't wait to get back on the bike and ride somewhere.

M2nc We were very glad to hear you were on the way home... and now I know you're good... you're posting here!!! I know it's a big relief, so the day wasn't wasted at all.

You'll be riding again soon... I wonder if you will stay "grounded" for the week.... seems to me I've heard stories about you sneaking out when you were younger....

Kristi you may have to hide the Uly and M2 keys

HMMM... he might try pushing it off.. maybe a better bet would be to hide the helmets... resourceful people don't Really need keys...

Love yall,
Webe's BG

Nuts, When "was", it was done by Yellow Wolf, the guy on the Yellow Wing that shoots rider vids at the Gap. It was a one rider deal. Man, I thought he knew that section of road like the back of his hand before riding it 106 times back to back. I bet he could do it blind folded now. Crazy

Jim,

If you remember I wrote about US-16 north of Marion VA. If you travel north on VA-623 to VA-61, head west to Tazewell VA. From Tazewell VA head south on US-16 to Marion VA. That is the route that I said was more technical than the Dragon. It is an awesome road that I traveled coming back from Indiana.

I have to second Mike's question. When are you going?

Toys!

toys!

In case the labels on the boxes aren't legible in the picture, that's a replacement XB sidestand with mounting bracket, an XB deluxe tank bag, a billet timing cover from Drummer Racing, and a new Drummer.

Thanks! My old tank bag was getting kinda ratty and I had some gift certificates burning a hole in my pocket so I ordered the new one before I knew I'd be needing a new side stand. When the side stand broke I had to order a new one out of necessity. When I pulled the muffler off to get to the sidestand I realized my drummer had a rattle to it and had burned up/blown out most of the packing, so I called Kevin Drum to see about getting it upgraded to the newest specs. He tossed in the timing cover along with the deal we worked out. Somehow I went from having no intention of spending any money on the bike this month to having a pile of parts on the kitchen counter, which are now on the Buell.

Not as much as I'd like to be. A few weeks ago I went over a month without starting the bike. I rode to work 3 days in a row before the sidestand broke, but obviously I haven't ridden since. I was stoked to ride today since I got the new parts, but all the weather sources I checked spoke of impending heavy rain this afternoon. I'm sure I'll get in some seat time before the weekend is over.

Spike - Sunday it should be beautiful. I wish I could join you. I dig the new Drummer. I just do not want another loud bike. I feel guilty firing up the M2 in the mornings to ride to work, so I avoid riding to work. That means I just put that much more mileage on the Uly. I have actually entertained the thought of putting a stock muffler back on the M2. I have two V&H slip ons and dig the alter-ego of the M2 versus the Uly. So I doubt I will change it back.

The tach never dropped under 5500, the dirt flew this way, the dirt flew that way, the rear end went this way, the rear end went that way. My adrenaline went up, my stress went down, the front end went up, the gas level went down. Man that was a great little ride to blow off some steam.

Don't kid yourself, that HP2 is a light weight, overpowered dirt eating machine that just happen to come with some street tires!!! I believe the only reason I ever passed Mike was becausehe let me!!

M2-Do well brother, do well!

Kristi-stay sane

Cyclone-congrats on the new ride

Jim-only wish I had the time!!
