Here's a picture of James Banke's cool Trumpet flat tracker that won the best of show. It's not a buell, but it has a Buell front end and wheels on it:

Ebear - thanks for the suggestion on "Featured Selection" This year we added the "Best Uly", but took out "Best Other Bike," which this probably would have won. For those that attended: I'm collecting notes on improvements for next year - please pm me while its fresh in your mind, and we'll see what we can do! Thanks, Joanne |

Hey there, good to see that all made it home OK. As for suggestions, well I propose that we do it in bakersfield. Hear me out before throwing hands into cealing fan. 1st of all the weather here is great this time of year, mostly, 2nd, motels are cheap and close by. Now for the killer, the riding around here is AWSOME, really, we can do all the same stuff that we did this year with the exception of the motorcycle museum. We can meet @ the redlion parking lot in the morning to establish two rides, long & short. Long ride would consist of a quick run down Hwy 58 to Calinte, that takes you threw some very cool & TIGHT twisties called Lions trail and dumps you off in Kernville, Ferris knows of this ride. The 2nd ride would take us threw some old/newly paved roads to Glenville, we locals call it the Woody/Glenville run, it takes us from there to shirley medows forrest and some smoking cool turns. Again Ferris knows of this as do a few more who frequent this site, I.E. those who went on the October fast last year, this was on the map as the breakfast stop. This ride also drops us at Kernvile and we meet @ the park right next to the Kern river for a great BBQ and RAFFLE so I can win a Baker 6 speed tranny for my bucket, all in favor? |

Wayne, Shy and reserved, eh? Yeah, that's you... NOT! I'll have a talk with that Bardebra - she's clearly got too much time on her hands. As for the Bakersfield suggestion, well, we'll take that under advisement. Next year, we're pretty convinced that Buellton will be the spot again - there were many people who didn't get to make it this year due to the weather. I really liked the caterers we had, we've now got more of an idea of the area, and we can plan it easier knowing that. But perhaps the year after we'll look at areas that could reach out to the Arizona and Nevada folks.... Hmmm, Kernville's pretty good, or perhaps a PARTY AT WAYNE'S HOUSE IN 2008?? Joanne |

I miss Octoberfast too... I definately vote for an Octoberfast next year!!! Even though I low-sided my bike at Octoberfast last year, its still one of my all-time favorite rides... Zach loved the shooting range, jacuzzi, climbing wall, hiking, and many other activities at Montecito - its a very family-friendly place. And the roads up there are absolutely great (as long as you don't mistakenly assume that that pile of sand in the middle of the corner won't be any problem As far as the timing... Can't see it happening in conjunction with the BBQ; just too many things to cram into a weekend, and vacation days are at a premium at the shop where I work . But if Wayne's volunteering to host a party the following week (or another October weekend except for the Willow Spring race weekend), sounds great! I think the first weekend is when we'll shoot for the American Sport Bike BBQ next year, barring any unforeseen issues. Joanne |

Did somebody say more photos?
Lined up for the long ride.
This inconspicuous farmhouse/building that we road right by east of Santa Maria belongs to Foxen Canyon Motorsports, otherwise known as Alan Johnson Racing. Former NHRA Top Fuel champions and current crew chief to Tony Schumacher.
While we are having a good old bull session after turning off of the "racetrack" (although I'm pretty sure we still stayed within AMA guidelines) - Eric and Al who have gone ahead and are holding cameras are wondering "Where the f*#k are those people!"
This monument is tucked in on Foxen Canyon Road and I'm sure it wasn't even noticed as we wizzed by.
The stated "facts" have since been reported to be mostly "myths."
This ranch was on Alamo Pintado almost to Solvang.
Think of them as "Blasts" - just kidding!
At the park
That sign caught my eye on the way out too Sparky.

You've started some creative thinking up here Ebear & Lady! It won't be the same up here without FB&D but then I'll have another great reason to make a road trip. Just the same maybe a really nice tradition can be kept alive if they do pull the plug. Great pics everybody! Thank You! (But I know there's gota be more!) |
