U4 - I'm meeting Kristi half way to pick up Carlee. We haven't worked out the details yet, but I'll probably try and do that right after lunch, so I'll be back to Raleigh about 1:00. Come on up anytime after that. I figure the girls will want to spend the night, so if you want to leave Sabrina thats good with me. You and Tonya are welcome to go to the fair with me if you like. I'll be there with 4 kids, so you can keep me sane. I've already got admission and ride tickets for Carlee and Sabrina.

JimN - Carlee is excited and has NO idea why! I've just told her to pack a bag and I'll be taking her somewhere and she's going to have fun!

I'm thinking Wilson will be a good meeting place. It's about 45 minutes from here and about the same for you I think. There's much less traffic that route than 70 with Smithfield/Clayton area.

Just give me a call tonight at home 252-524-4430 and we'll work out the details. I'll send her with $$, just use your parental judgement on how she spends it!

Thanks!
Kristi

Oldog - Thanks for the offer. Maybe one day I will have time to work on the bike. Both base gaskets are leaking on the motor and the seal on the main shaft from the motor to the transmission is leaking again.

New problem with the M2.

I have a new problem with the bike now. I was going to ride the bike to work today since it has not been out in a few weeks. I pulled the bike out and it started right up, typical M2. I rode it to the drive way and we washed the bike. I say we because the kids took turn spraying the bike, all three of them. Anyway we dried as much as we could reach, I started the bike, I took three passes with Luke on the drive way then parked it in the barn for the night.

This morning I pull the M2 out and it would turn over but would not fire, not typical M2. I primed it with the choke and gave it a little throttle, but it would only backfire. I left it there and jumped on the Uly and rode to work.

This afternoon when I got back from work I tried it again and the same thing. It turns over fine, then just backfires. So all I have successfully done is scared the neighbors half to death. I suspect the electrical system is the culprit because it is getting fuel and ran fine last night. I think water got somewhere it shouldn't have. Any ideas on where I should start checking?

If its backfiring I'm thinking you must have spark. Could there be water in the fuell or carb?

Sportmark - Think you can weld my Blast muffler back together? Or should I just throw it away?

Edit - I'm talking about the one I replaced with Laura's muffler. Not my clamp. I've already ordered a new one of those.

Jim,

FWIW,,,,Weld that thing up! I hack-welded Boog's Blast muffler many, many, many times : ) Just a light dusting of BBQ paint later it'll look like brand spanking new,,,,it'll break again,,,,,rinse later and repeat. It's all good.

I think, prior to getting a Hooker race pipe from Dave, pre Wisconsin (that dude's expensive to know,) it was honestly welded 5 times and once in the most southern part of SC I fixed a spot with JBWeld and fireplace putty -- beautiful!

Not much left of the 13th... Thanks everyone for the well-wishing...I am wishing I was well...For the past few nights I have had coughing fits when I try to go to bed that keep me up even later than my normal late schedule. Hopefully the Advair I was prescribed tonight will cure it...

Carlos-
Now you know why I never wash my bikes! I does sound like it has something to do with water getting somewhere where it shouldn't be. Do you still have the rainsock on the hypercharger? Is it soaked or is it dry now? How about the filter? If enough water was sprayed at the sock I'm sure some had to make it's way to the filter. For the heck of it, I would make sure that your battery cables are tight. The only times I've had backfiring problems were when batteries have gone South or intake seals have gone. There is one connection on the wiring harness of all tubers (as far as I remember) that should have a zip tie holding the two connectors together. The reason for this zip tie is to eliminate this exact problem when water would seep into the mating pins and terminals. If memory serves me this is the connection of the voltage regulator to the main wiring harness. If yours is missing the zip tie it will be obvious from the appearance of the outside of the connector bodies. Most likely it ain't this, but I thought I'd throw it out there anyways.

Well, I started this post before the 13th had ended...
