I knew which truck you were referring to. I just wonder how many people question the driver about C3! I love the fact that he liked the decal and left it on the truck.

Carlos and Mark can't stand it, they are taking off at 1 p.m. today.

New12r has a voltage tester, and a load tester, so, I'll know for sure about the stator for sure this evening.
Let's hope the smelly smell that smells smelly is something else...my imagination?

Glitch - I guess you went duck hunting!! We're relly hoping you make it! Nutsosane from VA may come down as well.

Glad things worked out and that SM had the parts you need and that New12r can help you test it before you venture out too far.

Like your insignia!

Sorry to barge in and provide something educational. Monday I took the day off and my parents and I went to the NC Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores. Below are some highlights:
My bank must be dyslexic...

Dyslexic Bank Address

Maybe if I put a bunch of zeroes in front of the dollar amount of my next deposit maybe their dyslexia will show through once again...
This 3-dimensional topograchical map of NC sure shows 'how flat it is', at least in certain (most) areas.

How flat it is

Those of you who are going to the 'not flat' part of the state this weekend - ENJOY yourselves! Wish I could make it.
And just what are you looking at?

Catfish

Apparently I've been hanging out in the wrong places...

Eastern River COOTER

I was amazed that there are some hands-on portions of the aquarium. There are 2 large tanks that you can actually touch the 'wildlife'. One tank holds 3 or 4 stingrays and a nurse shark. Here's one of the stingrays (I don't know if it is the one I touched or not):

Stingray

The other tank had some horseshoe crabs and other shellfish that you could pick up and examine.
I'm posting this completely out of intellectual curiosity, only:

Slippery Dick

And the last picture I took before my batteries decided to perish was of this loggerman turtle.

loggerman

He reminded me of a character out of one of them Pixar animation movies, but I can't place him.

My parents headed back for Wisconsin Wednesday and I just got a call earlier tonight that they had made it home. So, it is feasible that I could go enjoy the better part of this state with everyone, but realistically I have to go to the Doctor tomorrow as soon as they open and get some good drugs to knock this crap out of me. See what happens when you have to drive your parents around in a car for about a week? Damn climate control!!! BLAH!!!

If you look on the news this morning, you'll see mention of a huge chemical fire in Apex. Mike, Larry, & Mark/Laura are in that area.

I called Mark this morning. His house is in the evacuation area, but they didn't call him. They are going to work this morning, but they can't go back home. Fortunately they both have parents in the area.

I was listening to the Apex evac orders this morning driving in -- that's all bad.

Any other Badwebbers over there? Need some place to crash? Looks like my house will be empty this weekend -- PM me.

On a happier note, WolfPack Baby!

Hey Nutsnbolts... you were talking (a while back...sorry was busy with school or would have posted sooner)to Mark about a blast... now that I think about it... I'm not sure you were talking to my Mark (Webethumpin) but I'm his wife and I've got a Blast. I'm a little taller than your wife (5'5) but I love my Blast. One of the things I love about the Blast is the weight..at 360 lbs it is a lot less intimidating than heavier bikes. I've ridden Webe's Harley a few times and it is much too heavy for me (at least without more experience). Also, I prefer the mid controls that the Blast has. Another plus is the fact that if you drop it..it won't cost a fortune to repair (experience talking here ) The Blast is a great beginner bike, and most experienced riders that ride it enjoy the ride. The seat is not as comfortable as some for long distances (100+ miles) but then again, you can't go much farther than 120 miles on a tank before hitting reserve, so you have an automatic rest stop built in

I vote for the Blast...

The eastern group is home. After picking up the children, we unloaded the Uly and "Minnie". Carlee and Carlos rode the Blast! to Mark's house. She loved the Blast! Just got home from having dinner, we're pooped. We had a great time and are looking forward to seeing all the pictures.

G2 - sorry to have gotten so close and not actually getting to meet you. Hopefully next time.

Jim called me and I hope he was able to give you the news yesterday. I can just about promise to see you all for MB3. I did take the Uly out today; six creek crossings in which the muffler was completely under water for the duration! NUTS

The guys had a great time riding Saturday. The weather was pretty funky Friday on their ride to Boone. We'll find another weekend to meet up with VA/NC crowd!

Well I had a Blast and I'm glad to be back home. The Mountain roads were a bit of a challenge for me that I look forward to adventuring with C3 in the future. The Blast was a great bike to ride there, but the mountains were more of a mental challenge.
Now that the mind has had an extreme workout I know what to work on to make the adventure better the next trip.
Tie wire fixes everything, and go Kiss Army.
The people who ride Buells share a common bond for riding Motorcycles.Bad-Web brings those people together via internet.C3 adventures find the people who are looking for that common bond to share motorcycling with.

Ride on, Webe

By the way, my missing / backfiring issue didn't occur at all on Saturday. Maybe it was the presence of all of the other Buellers...

The weekend was an adventure. We left Raleigh on Friday morning in a pouring rain. I lost sight of Kristi as soon as we pulled onto I-40. I caught up with Carlos and the rain slacked off shortly.

We made it into Boone, after several wrong turns and arrived at the address of the cabin. But there wasn't a cabin there. Carlos found a gravel road that wound up into the mountain, and we thought the cabin might be at the top of it. I took off. It was a road worthy of a Uly. It actually had jumps, but I was too chicken to catch air. Carlos and I got to the top, and there was a big pile of junk but no cabin. We rode back down and called Kristi. We were supposed to use the other set of directions.

We arrive at the right cabin, which was still a challenge to find. I'm glad there was a trailer with 2 red Blasts sitting on it, or I would have missed it. Parking is a bit tight, and Mark is helping me with the Uly. I had never realized how big a guy he was until he picked up the back of my Uly and moved it.

Xb9ser arrived a little while later, and we decided to go on a ride up 321. I took my Blast, and Webe led the way on his. It's been a while since I had the Blast in the mountains, and it was fun. It was perfect on those roads, and I wasn't even breaking the speed limit.

The next morning we set up and met Bigdaddy & his son in Blowing rock. The breakfast we had planned didn't look like it was going to happen any time soon, so we rode into Morgantown on 181 and ate at Hardees. 181 was a great road, and it was downhill most of the way. I was at the back of the pack going down, and there was a bit of traffic to navigate around, so I didn't get too much of a chance to push the bike.

Along the way, we discovered that I had broken a muffler mount. After breakfast we went to Lowes in search of a hose clamp to hold it own. After 3 trips through the checkout line to get different size clamps, the checkout lady told me she was going to come outside and fix it for me. I should have let her. Mark and I eventually gave up, and I rode it home with the rattling strap.

On the home, I wanted to push the bike. Carlos was in the lead, and my goal was to stay right behind him all the way. Fortunately for me, Carlos'es goal was to hold a constant speed, so I at least had a hope. That was a blast. I was bouncing off the rev limiter all the way up the mountain and pegs were scraping on both sides.

After we got back, we rested and decided to run up to Shady Valley. Webe had been on a Blast for too long, so he and Carlos traded bikes. I took the Uly this time. We made Shady Valley in about an hour. Carlos, Twig, and myself had been there before. It was the first time for Webe and Xb9ser, at least on bikes.

Carlos is in the lead. On the first good turn, he almost rips the left foot peg off the bike. After that he tries to hang off more. : )

He stops soon after that because there is a lone firebolt parked at the top of a hill. Turns out to be a guy from Raleigh who has rented the bike from Sheltons because he wants to try one out. We talked for a while and he followed us the rest of the way into the valley.

There was a bit of excitement along the way because Busas don't corner well. I know Ferris says they do, and he is probably right if he is the one piloting the bike. But for this guy Busas don't corner well. The girl says you know its bad when you have vines growing out of your bike.

busa

We get to the store and park. Twigs Cherry Bomb bike is an instant hit. I count 6 guys standing around his bike admiring it.

Carlos and I make 4 more runs on 421, the last 2 being the result of Carlos escorting a semi through the valley. We get back and I almost drop the Uly trying to park it. I would have dropped it if Twig hadn't caught me on the way down. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks!

We decide to take 91 to get home because Carlos says it hits 321. 321 is twisty, and the first good turn I take ends up being my first ever experience with gravel. I was all over the road, but at least I stayed on the road. It turned out that 91 doesn't hit 321 until Elizabethton, TN, which is almost in Johnson City.

321 is a beautiful road. I know this because I've ridden it before. They guys I was with will have to trust me because it was dark by the time we got there. The gorgeous sweepers through the woods are much less enthralling at night. Then it started to rain. Riding 321 at night in the rain pretty much defines what it means to suck. I stayed out front because I'd been on the road before and I figured I should lead. It was hard to know what pace to set because if I looked behind me I lost all my night vision. I eventually pulled into a filling station because I figured the Blast needed gas. Webe's first words were "this sucks." Thats also where I discovered we were missing Carlos and Glen. Fortunately they showed up a few minutes later.

We made it home about 30 minutes later. We walked in out of the rain and the girls had dinner read and music playing. It was wonderful!

Nance, glad you posted a pic of the Hayabusa. The forks were even torn apart. That guy sure was lucky. He walked away with minor injuries. But, it was a great weekend. Thank's everybody. Also, I'll never be caught again in the dark wearing a smoke visor, especially in the rain. That was a pretty hairy experience. It's going in the trash can.

Listen, on the whole smoke visor issue...

I used to do that whole smoke visor thing and like Twig got caught in the dark. Wow, that sucked. So, I did what most people do.. Swap back to the clear lens. But, that kinda sucks, too. Hence, which is why you went to the clear in the first place. Here's what I did about 5 yrs ago and has made all the difference in the world. If you have ever met sportymark, then you have seen his glasses. Keep that image in mind for a bit. I wear safety glasses alot and one day got a pair of yellow lens safety glasses and wow, what a difference. No glare, and perfect for indoors and outdoors. So, they make "clear yellow" lenses for most helmets. I use the HJC and I got one like I said.. 5 yrs ago. It's not the best fashion statement, but so what. They work amazing at night. I hate to use the pun, but it's like night and day.

Plus even in the bright sun, you don't really notice it. It's like wearing a mild form of blueblockers. (Think 80's)

Anyways, just my thoughts on that.

Mark
