The conservatives make moonshine. The liberals grow pot. that's hilarious (and undoubtedly true!) |

If you decide to come down and explore VA/NC around Mt. Airy let us know. My Dad's place is 3 miles off the BRP with 800' of creekfront on the Big Reed Island Creek. It is just down the road from Orchard Gap. Along with the main house, there is also a small cabin on almost 3 acres. We'd be glad to try and meet you there some weekend. Carlos is dying to find another reason to ride the bike up there. If the M2 is done, then we'll trailer it along with the Uly for a day of riding.....how's that for an invitation?? The only thing about the riding season will be when the snow comes. With the elevation changes and low temps, it can make for a nasty ride. My step-mom worked in Winston Salem and would miss work due to snow because they couldn't get out. Their driveway is about 1/8 mile straight up hill - all gravel. As for humidity - they don't even have AC in their house or cabin there. Even in the spring or summer, you better take a light weight jacket for the evening hours, just in case. |

wow Kristi, thanks for the invitation - talk about twisting our arms! it is precisely the Orchard Gap area that i am so smitten with, for several reasons, including the close proximity to the Blue Ridge Music Center. (we had an unplanned, unscripted, magical thing happen there on our way thru...) er, does your Dad want to sell the cabin with the three acres? i PROMISE we would be good neighbors! a little winter doesn't scare us - we even get a little snow each year here in SoCal - as long as the weather doesn't shut down motorcycling for months and months and months - that's something that neither i nor Denise could/would tolerate. glad to hear that the humidity isn't a big thing up there. the conditions were PERFECT when we went thru, but spending a few days in an area doesn't, of course, give the "big picture." in all seriousness, if you or your Dad know of a screamin' deal on a little piece of paradise in that general area, please let us know. as far as your invitation, thank you again, and don't be surprised if we take you up on it! Actually he is planning to put in on the market sometime within the next year. He started some renovations, then became ill, so the renovations are behind schedule. Of course, it depends on your plan of events! They started that property over 20 years ago and camped while grooming the grounds and deciding on where and what to build. They moved there in 1997 and just moved back to NC to be closer to our children and the winters were taking a toll on Daddy's health. I have pictures somewhere, I'll try and find them. In the meantime, drop me a PM and I'll send you a few pictures of their little piece of Parkway Heaven. We're only 4 hours from the cabin, so even late notice could work for us as long as no one else was planning a weekend there. |

Hey Nuts, Wasn't that tractor trailer fiasco on thursday?? The same day Gary left, and we met your pops in Tellico?? Or is my memory just totally shot? I remember Friday to be the day of the ditches(helping others). Tank? |

So that means... You don't recall either, and you are going to call pops to see if his "continuum" may be intact? I'm writing to "the thread" from memory, and from Thursday morning until we hit loose gravel is "random memory". I remember the events, but the order is all frayed. It was my first whole week off since Christmas, and personally, I'm happy with the memories as they are. But for our viewers, I would like to continue posting the events in a somewhat orderly fashion.(being my first storytelling event on the Badweb and all) Tank |

Let's see if you agree with this order of events.... Thurs up the hill, meet for pics w/snake, TRUCKS, down the hill, up the hill, TRUCKS still there, Gary leaves, pops and crew say meet in tellico, down the hill, getting late so brian heads out, we head for tellico,(I remember that ride) meet the cruisers for late lunch, Take pics on the way back, $19 18pack Something doesn't seem right with my timeline? |

Sounds right to me. Because Friday was the day we picked more bikes up than we care to on a normal day. Saturday we stopped at the Crossroads for a total of 9 seconds before we'd had enough. We need to get Brian's photo's up. How do we contact him? NUTS is lazy. |

Brother Jackson, The weather looks perfect. Give me a ring when you wake up. 11:30 right? As of 9am not a cloud in the sky and not a blip on the radar. I probably won't be leaving until 1:30 or 2:00. |

Sure he did, didn't you see the pic in.... (never mind, that was Gary....hehe) I've been fighting a nasty sinus infection and bronchitis for the last week, and haven't felt much like doing anything. I'll hopefully get the rest of the story up later this week. Wes, Congrats on the bike. Tank |

Tank, sorry you're under the weather buddy. Jinance, yeah I ran her out to a company function two weeks ago. About a 35 minute ride each way through some nice 55mph sweepers. She did real good. Fortunately her severe car-sickness is not motorcycle induced as well. If I don't run down to see the C3 this weekend, I'll take her looking for a certain family of black bears I get to see with some regularity. NUTS |

Wes, I fine looking ride indeed!! Now get your butt on it and meet us in Roanoke this Sunday for a leisurely ride. I have hopes that we are going on one of our nicer routes since we just hit a few of the other favorite roads this past Sunday. I personally want a change of scenery and hope to talk Nuts into the ole' Bent Mountain/Christiansburg/Ellet Valley/New Castle route. |
