Brankin,
What did you really think of that Cg seat?

Well I've sold my R80 and bought a 99 R1100S with Ohlins suspension front and rear. And a full Vanderline exaust with chip. Its got a more radicial riding position than the S2 and about 40 more
ponies. Now it's going to be harder than
ever to catch you Brankin, I'm only at
75,000 miles on the Buell.

Kristi,I enjoyed talking with you the other day.
Keep up the good work!

Mark and Jim-

My wife is really debating the whole Blast thing. Can you give me a reason why I shouldn't get her one? I've heard a couple of bunk things about them so far. Can you dispell those myths?

My wife is all of 5'3 and under 140. Have you guys had any issues with them? Mark, I know your wife has one. How does she feel about it?

Thanks guys.

Mark

She loves it it fits her real well(five foot even) she rudes the hell out of it and love the looks people giver her when she is out on it.

As for the myths of all the problems I have had a leaky rocker box gasket, and a leaky primary inspection cover....and one blown tire but that is not it's fault....

Nuts - It's a great bike, particulary for people about your wife's size. I don't know if Buell has come out and said it was designed for women, but it obviously was. It has controls sized for small hands, it's suspension is designed for someone who weighs about 150, and the seat height is perfect for someone about 5'3.

It certainly isn't a perfect bike. It has a few quirks, and many limitations. But the thing you hear over and over about it, is that it's a real motorcycle. I think by that people mean it has some soul. It's a beginner bike, but it's not one you ride around on thinking about how you can't wait to upgrade.

Nuts - I do not own one, but have thought about it more than once. I was over at Webe's helping him install a clutch cable that was damaged when his wife dropped it. After putting it together, Mark told me I could test it out, so I jumped on it and rode it about 15-20 miles. Here are a things that noticed about it.

1. It does not have the power of other Buells and that means you have to plan passes and pulling out in traffic better. The bike was fun, but in no way fast in a straight line. That does not mean the bike does not have enough power to keep up on the road though. The bike ran up to 80mph no problem and felt like it could do it all day long.

2. Transmission was very much like the M2 but with much shorter gear ratio. I did not find the comfort shift points on the bike on my little ride, but the clutch and shift actions were good, though clunky in comparison to the '06 transmission or newer on Buells and XL.

3. Very good brakes. The bike has smaller brakes than other Buells, but it impressed me how quick you could haul the bike down.

4. Very good handling and suspension settings. The bike is easier to toss around than the Uly and the last Lightning I rode. The bike was ... okay a blast to toss around the curves. It is a Buell, and it does handle very well. Very predictable and easy to get through corners fast. The Suspension is very well dampened. The bike rode a tad on the rough side, but the bike is planted in the curves. So the suspension is not adjustable like other Buells, but very controlled with the factory settings.

5. Not the greatest seat. Too soft in where you should be riding it. The bike is a bit small for me so I was sitting more on the pillion which was actually firmer than the riders position. Webe had problems the last 100+miles trip we took on it.

Went to the local motorcycle mall (Excel in Concord) today to pickup a tank bag. One of the salesmen came out and meet me in the parking lot before I even got the helmet off. Turns out he owns a 2000 X1 and he was elated to see another Buell. Just keep going on and on about how much more fun the Buell is to ride than the other bikes he's been on. Told him about Badweb and he was all excited to know there were a whole lot more of us out there. Guess C3 may have a new member soon.

TJ & I had lunch with U4euh & his family in Sanford.

Jim - I turned left on 1 busness, but that ended up going south. So I turned around and went the other way. That put me on something that looked like 1 bicycle, which was a really nice ride. I'm sure that wasn't the way you intended to send me, but it ended up being good.

Went on a nice ride today with a couple of other BadWebers. Ed from Mint Hill and Matt from Mooresville. Was Matt's first time out in the mountains and he was crazy fast. We took 27 from Charlotte to old 18 (18a I think) to 181 to BRP ended up at Little Switzerland. Then retraced our steps coming back. By the way old 18 has some crazy twisties. Anyway here's some pictures.

Resting on BRP.

Did you play with the postscript any? I suspect I should just start over and do it with a graphics program, but I'm proud of that elipse.

Yes.

I agree : )

How many tries did the elipse take?

I think you said "programming challenge?" I agree and I'll pass on this particular challenge -- I'll be more than happy to help you dial in your Uly's suspension though : )

How many tries did the elipse take?

I prefer to call them iterations. : )

I worked on that for a couple of days. Most of that was trying to figure out the shortest way to do things. Did you look at the code? It's only 76 lines long, and some of it is for debugging. I'm proud of that.

Have you ever seen a dog on the porch watching traffic go by at sixty mile-per-hour. You can tell he wants to chase them but knows he can't.

Yeah I know that feeling well.

Spectrum thanks for the shots. From what everyone has said, 181 is awesome so while at Boone we will definitely have to go play.

As far as for suspension, on Kristi and mine's trip last weekend I finally tighten up the suspension so it handle better while two up riding. I think it is a little stiff now, but oh my! With the new low profile Contis and the suspension set up to go, the bike is handling fantastically. I can not only hold a line through a fast curve, I can change it to go around obstacles and bring it back like I am going straight. I am ready for Boone.
