Hmm, Maybe, but I can't find any pictures of the bike else where. What year is it? Here's the stock 2007 R 1200R from the BMW website. Closest thing I could find.

It's an R1200C 1998 through 2003.

The big forum for those bikes is chromeheads.org

On the way back from Raven Rock we followed 3 Buells from Lillington to Fuquay. There was a black '99+ M2, a yellow X1, and a white XB9R.

Spike,

Only about a year later I found the quote I was looking for. Based on its appearance, I'd say it isn't from anyone 'famous'.

Compromise

Although it was purely unintentional, below is the best group shot I got from today's BRAG meeting.

I just LOVE this!

And, after checking this out, yes, Sportymark is, indeed, a (Quad Cam) Bastard.

JimR - we're home! Not nearly as scenic as the ride there, but less chance of deer! We really had a good time. Hope Carlee behaves herself. We'll call in the AM and let you know what time Carlos will come to get her. Thanks again, my kids caught a nap and are now watching movies.

Thanks for the banner!

JimN - good to see you today! Tell Rebecca we missed her.

A cool blast (even though not from a Blast!) from the past... The Japanese tuber warning label. If anyone with a late model tuber still has their warning sticker (on X1 it was on the lower frame tube rearward of the airbox cover) you will know what it says (or intends to say, I guess)...

It may have been and if the Honda Element wasn't such a total mixed breed hog-dog I could've found out : ) Julie and I were coming back from Gatlinburg,,you know the route,,,,Townsend to the Foothills Parkway, to 129. Julie was like "I don't remember this and we've been here since we were 4 years old." Anyway, I got to hustle the Element up 129, but couldn't get KillBoy to snap our pic. Stopped in and the Uly was sitting in the restaurant with some really bling-bling Giva hard luggage -- looked expensive to me.

I did get up on top to today, 321, 221, BRP, and freaking 181 -- did that for 2 straight hours,,,yep need some more tires now. 6:30 brings the colder air, sun going down,,,,it started getting a wee bit chilly so I started working my home -- just hoping that Tivo had the MotoGP, Panthers, NASCAR race all properly ready for me -- Panthers, oh crap, the Panthers.

Working through the races now. It's cooling off towards the end of the day now so let's make some plans now before the cold stuff gets here. When, where, time, subjective direction, and I'm ready.

My parents have been moved to another place for my mom's continued rehabilitation -- dad's better than he's been in 20 years,,,he would ride nothing though,,,maybe that'll come around. The younger guys would get a kick out of riding with a 70+ year old that has road these mountains for his entire life and I know he can still rail it. It would be a great site to get stuffed in a corner and it not be Boog stuffing me for a change,,,to look over and see the half-crazed senior citizen stuffing me on 181 is what I'm looking forward to. Later,

G2

So, I have ridden to and from Southern Pines a couple of times this weekend. Went to U4euh's for his party on Saturday and Carlee decides (big surprise) to spend the night with Sabrina. So we agree since I just put the new '07 seat on the Uly and wanted to try it out.

Sporty Mark and I ride together to US421 & NC-55. It was a good ride and overall good roads. I get to Jim's without a miss. Kristi drove the tank with the kids.

Well I filled up on the way to Jim's house at Carthage. That night we drive back to Grifton non-stop. Kristi kept wandering if I was going to stop for gas, but didn't. I started to wander if the reserve light was broken since I was still going passed where it usually comes on. As I turn onto N. Highland and pass the Welcome to Grifton sign off NC-11, the reserve light finally comes on at 201 miles. Overall 55mpg which includes in town, highway and freeway riding.

So I threw the bags on the bike and take Carlee's gear with me to pick her up. I almost duplicate the gas range as I make it from Grifton to Sanford and back to Benson before the light comes on. So I pull in and the bike gets 54mpg on this trip which was more highway and less freeway. I rode down Devil's Racetrack and also took McDogal Rd versus NC-27. Good roads and I was having a little fun. One of those 70mph going straight or in the turn.

Carlee and I are on the way back and we are on Devil's Racetrack and hit that curve that has a bad dip in it and the Uly wallows. I slow down quickly and ride the rest of the road like a lowered cruiser. My bike does not Wallow, so something is not right. Looking for a good place to pull over I ease into Bentonville Fire House and check the bike out. It takes a minute but I see the back tire is low. It has about 15-20# of air in it and I know I did not leave the house with the tire that low. So I'm in the middle of no where but I'm not too far from Goldsboro, so I am going to limp it to the first gas station. As I pull up to the road, I notice an air hose in front of an old Cinder-Block shop across the street. No one is around and the place is locked up, but I decide to see if the line works. It does, so I fill up the tire and head to Goldsboro. I decide to pull into Shelton's when I get to Goldsboro to check the rear tire again. It is holding air but it is softer than when I left Bentonville. So I call it a day and call in the Calvary. I was not going to ride with Carlee on a bad tire.

John Martindale rolled the bike forward until I found a pin hole in the tire. The back tire is just about to the wear bars so its time to change it out. If anyone is interested, I got about 5300 miles out of the Diablo Strada. That is only marginally better (4800 miles to the wear bars on the last one) than the D205 on the M2 and the D205 stick better in all conditions and do not follow the grooves like the Pirellis.

The '07 seat is good but something to get use to. I now know why the new seat is higher than the '06 low seat, but still has a better reach to the ground. The seat is stepped. If you slide all the way forward, there is no padding and you slip down into a crevice. Very narrow and easy for me to get more than just toes on the ground with both feet. I can actually lift myself off the seat.

Slide back on the seat and you hit a pocket that raises you up and has the gel pad. Continue to slide back onto the pillion and you slide up again. So a stepped seat takes something to get use to, but it does have the advantage of being able to slide around on the seat and use a different part of your butt.

I rode a total of 450 miles this weekend and can say the seat is more comfortable than the '06 low, but I am not sure it is more comfortable than the '06 Standard. You do have a better time finding the ground on the '07 seat than either of the '06 seat.

The Pillion is more padded on the '07 seat than either of the '06 seats and has that textured fabric. Carlee stated that it was more comfortable than the '06 seats.

Jim,Carlos, & Kristi-Thanks for coming by, meant a lot to the family that you did. Brina was B-E-A-T Sunday night! So much so that she is in bed sick now.
You all remember those tires I talked about, they sold for $1.00 for the set, brand new,
and I didn't bid on'em

I'm sorry to hear that Sabrina is not feeling well. Carlee was dragging herself! Tonight she's off making posters, she's running for SGA Secretary.

The salsa at the party, is that your homemade salsa? If so, we have a meeting in the kitchen when you come here!

Speaking of tires, I guess that's my job tomorrow. The Uly is loaded on the trailer attached to my truck. Gotta find someone who has tires and can get them on tomorrow. After that, the truck has to go in and have the brakes done before we go to Boone.

Carlos and I are heading out for the weekend on the Uly! Should be an interesting trip. Got all the kids farmed out and someone watching the puppies. I'm looking forward to our weekend away.

well if you all make it this way and need a place to stay, I got room and bed! Tell Carlee Brina said good luck and to thank her for the Angel gift. She slapped herself after they pulled away and said she forgot. That was sweet of her.

Yes that was my recipe for Salsa, or more precisely Pico De'giyo. I've come to eat on just about any meat. Especially great on chicken breast!

When you come this way, first send a grocery list and then we'll make Pico De'giyo while Carlos grills! It was really good.

I'll pass the message to Carlee. She found the Angel in Swansboro while we were on vacation and had to buy it for Sabrina. She's a good kid.

I'm not sure where we'll end up this weekend. I told Carlos, it's my birthday, I've placed all the children, taken care of the dogs, the rest of the weekend is up to you to plan! Should be interesting.

He is doing pretty good, especially considering we almost lost him. He has and will have lots of pain, but with medication handles it well. He hates the brace he has to wear(kinda like wearing old style armor on his torso). He can't swim or do anything but lay in bed without the brace. He is doing school work at home with Sheri(although that seems to be worse pain for him than the surgery). Overall we can't believe how well he is doing and how well he gets around.

As for the second job, with missing work and the other bills we weren't paying the bills and we have bee trying to pay the credit off as we have had some major expenses this year. Still trying to figure how to fit the third job in there. I miss the kids as a lot of time they are asleep when I leave and when I get home, and I miss sleep too... ;)

Xb9ser - Too cool. I will have to check it out in Boone.

Well the Stradas are off the Uly and now I have Continentals on the bike. I know the Strada front had 5500 miles on it, but I think I am going to like the Continentals. The bike is still not too neutral off center, but holds the line better than the Stradas. Time will tell how long these tires will wear. They are ContiForce/Road Attack, so sport tire versus sport touring. They have impressed me so far even though I still have to scuff them in before I push them.

What Jim, you don't want a Dunlop like mine on the back... Over 1000 miles on it since I put it on, and still shows almost no wear!

hate the tire but the free price tag was better...
