We made an offer on a property in Summit, Oregon (20 miles West of Corvallis) on Monday and the sellers accepted. Won't be moving til next Spring when we retire. Now, for sure I gotta plan a SPLASH Thursday for next year to add the great roads near the new place.
The property has a small house, a guest house, a studio with loft, a large shop (divided into "his" and "hers"), a green house, and a goat house on 4.66 acres. It has a composting toilet and a rain-water recycling system as well as extensive irrigation. Heated primarily by wood stoves with wood harvested on the property. Just found out that the 5 mile road from Blodgett to Summit will be repaved this month. It is a riot of twists and turns, what a driveway. I am counting the days!

Just so Bob and everyone can get a good laugh in now....The S1 is for sale, Best offer takes it, and have started looking into buying a Triumph ST, Or just about anything but a tube framed buell.

WEll...had to get out today. Racked up 436 miles. Nice alone time on the Sprint. Started out about 930Am.
Route: Hy 26 to 216 to Maupin. Bakeoven Road to Shaniko for a quick gas and pee. (it was Shaniko Days so I decided to avoid the crowd and press on). Then 218 to Antelope and Fossil. Hy 19 to 207 south to Mitchell. Lunch at Lone Pine Cafe in Mitchell. Chatted with some guys doing the off-road thing on a two BMW RS's and a Suz 650DLR. Could have used a nap, but headed home same route to Fossil then Hy 19 to Condon.
Was pulling out of Condon and speed signs went from 40 to 55 so I see the 55 sign about 50 yards ahead of me and start speeding up and I can see the prowl car coming toward me so I look down at the gps and it says 60 so I think I'm fine. Apparently not as he lights up and does a Smokey and the Bandit j-turn. I've already pulled off to the side. He said I was going 63 "well inside the city limits." I just told him I saw the 55 sign and was speeding up as I was leaving the town. He gave me a warning (sorry Mike) but only because I id'd myself I think. ((When you do, most places (everywhere I've been so far) just say okay, be one your way and that's it. Nope, he still wanted registration and insurance and went back for a check. Actually I think he was just enjoying making me bake in the sun. Whatever.))
I was tempted to ask if his moustache was a hemi, but I stopped myself before I got myself into trouble.
It was starting to get into the afternoon so instead of more scenic roads, I hit 97 to Biggs for Gas and I84 back. Home at 6PM.
For anyone who hasn't explored any of the roads around Condon, Heppner, Fossil, Kimberly, etc...you're missing out.

I met up with some riders from seattle today that were doing 47-53. Left at 945 got on 26 to the Vernonia exit ripped up 47 to meet up at clatstanie at 1130 from there back down 47 to mist then jewel. what great twisty roads. from there hit 26 to the 53 turn off 19 miles of great tight turns. out onto 101 for 25 miles then back to 53 and then 26. It was a great day but I learned that my trusty 12r in no match for a group of liter bikes. i could hang in the corners pretty well but got smoked in the straights it was kinda frustrating but oh well.. I still love my buell. one kinda cool thing was there was an zx-14 there man is that bike fast. on 26 I was going at a healthy pace when this zx came out of no where and passed me like I was standing still it was an amazing display of power.

Nice story. Thanks for sharing it.
You really packed on the miles. I'll have to zip down and have a go at those roads some day. The RC still requires a few parts before she's ready to go though.

Before

After

Good news! The addition and renos to our house are finally finished and we are all back in now. Landscape to follow of course.

Shotgun

Congrats on your new retirement home and acreage. It sounds like a real gem and with a 5 mile twisty driveway, a motorcyclists’ delight.

See ya all at Border Raid.

Ok, what a day!

Deb foiled a bike thieves attemt to steal her Speed Triple.
The down side was the damage the bike suffered after the Bass-Turd threw the bike down and ran.

Sure makes a baseball bat attractive in times like these

Totally bummed about the broken controls, but way to go Deb! Those little F#ckers should be hung outside of our Border Raid hotel for all to flog! You going to be OK getting parts in time for the Labour Day weekend?

Let me know if I can help.

Took the day off Sunday and led my friend Chris on the Splash route. Chris has a Kawi zx6r and had never been on those roads before. Chris told me afterward it was probably his best single day of riding. This even though 142 was closed from the one-lane stretch down to White Salmon. We ended up going all the way to Goldendale. FWIW, SR14 from Goldendale to White Salmon is pretty fun.

Sobering sight on the way back on 503 as we passed the aftermath of a wreck with two bikes down, obviously a fatal. According to the story in the paper, some 16yo was coming around a corner in a truck and swerved into the oncoming lane of the bikes to avoid a car stopped to turn left.

Stay safe up there riding in B.C.

the part is on order and insurance will be going to the shop by middle of next week..Border raid is looking good. Rode the bike to work, parked on the sidewalk by main entrance of the school. Was taking my boots off and noticed a vehicle outside. Parked the wrong way in bus lane. Went out just as the little @#$%^&^%$#$ was jumping on the bike. LOL!! Barefoot and screaming about 10 feet from him..I think he fell in the street, his ride picked him up at the other end of the campus. He had 2 people chasing him and 2 calling 911.I'm telling the operator I need to hang up so I can get my bike off its side..cops came..bike being fixed..

This weekend's ride.

Well, the slowpokes got left behind somewhere in the mountains, but had a fun time anyhow. The plan was to head to the coast and not Willamina, yes?

In any case, pictures are posted at: http://www.geekslair.com/augustride . Rocky looks pretty hardcore coming around that corner.

Macavite - thank you for taking pictures. Looks like I need a new low beam bulb.

Yes, the plan was to go to the coast, I missed that turn and went to Willamina.
We waited there 10-15 minutes and then went back about 20 miles looking for you guys, I worry. I didn't even notice the fork to the beach until we wnet back. Next time everyone trades cell phone #'s.

Was the beach nice?

Cash - I forgot to post the last club meeting and ride info. If you like you can PM me your email and I will add you to our BRAG club email list.

We got to the turn off, noted (a little puzzled) that you hadn't stopped, then continued to the coast as I knew the way . . . figuring we'd catch up with you guys once you stopped. We ended up getting gas at Beaver Creek and waiting there for a while, figuring that most routes converged there and you'd need gas as well, but to no avail. Then we headed home via Tillammok and Hwy 6.

I _have_ you cell number rocky, just neglected to bring my phone : )
