Hey Southern, I believe you could get those bottles at Wally World under the 'OZARK' brand, 5 or 6 bucks.

Hey Glenn, wanna sell your belt? If so I'll take it. Saturday coming up is up in the air for me. I am wanting to go on the salute ride w/1313 & M2nc, but.....

Wes - As I'm sitting here at 6:00 am replaying yesterdays events ...

There is a spring loaded locking piece that keeps the ball ramp adjustment from vibrating loose. It's a hex nut with a connected spring. It sits right behind the cover we removed to get to the cable.

Anyway, I remember removing it when we took off the cover. We set it on the paper towel next to the detergent bottle. But I don't remember putting it back on. Do you remember putting it back or did you find it after we were finished?

Yeah that keeps the adjustment from getting out of whack....need to make sure that goes back on. and with the lean of the kickstand you will need 2 people to put it on so primary oil does not run out.

Yep, those bottles are available around, just posted some info for those that wanted to know.

Just got a phone call from a company I interviewed with, Schlumberger. They will be setting me up to go out to Houston on Tulsa for the final paperwork/interview, but the phone conversation went like this, "Alright, well I'll be setting you up to wokr in Vernal, Utah then."

I'm trying oh so hard not to get my hopes up too much. It all sounds positive and we're excited, more about the job than anything. Until I hear them say I'm hired and fill out the paperwork, I'm gonna try to hold in the excitement.

Vernal

According to the map, some roads in the area. : ) I see a Uly in the future if this happens. : )

Wes - You don't have to lean it over far. If you put someone on the bike and they just hold it vertically with their feet, that should be enough. Adjustment is simple. tighten the screw and back off 1/4 turn. You can bring it over later tonight if you need someone to hold the bike.

Southern Marine,

Good luck! I can only speak of Southern Utah, but it is some beautiful (albeit a bit barren) countryside. Some of the following pics were taken in Utah.
Bryce Canyon: (IMHO it blows away the Grand Canyon. But in defense I saw the Grand Canyon at nightfall.)

XB's at Bryce Canyon

These next two were taken somewhere between Bryce Canyon and Moab:

Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up 2

This picture was taken on the same trip, although it was taken in Colorado. As a side note HWY 666 has been renamed HWY 491.

XB on South 666

And my reward for reaching Mt. Evans, Colorado was riding my 1st two P4's (otherwise known as V-Rod's), one in OE configuration and one with the Screamin' Eagle mufflers and K&N Air Filter, both with the wicked flat black paint over damn near everything.

P4 at Mt. Evans

If you end up out in Utah, it would be really cool to be so close to the salt flats and be able to give Firemanjim a hand when he's racing.

Lots of Luck!

Thanks Brankin. We're looking forward to it. My wife even mentioned, "Hey, you'll be close to the Salt Flats for the speed records, maybe you can go to it". : ) Gotta love her. : )

I checked out the local area, and Utah Motorcycle Roads and found out that there are supposed to be some nice roads/twisties to ride. : )

I've also seen some of the photos for the area and it shows some nice green trees, beautiful scenery, mountains, lakes, etc... We'll see how it all goes. If it turns out I wind up out that way, ya'll will all be invited to drop by. : )

I have been hearing from soome good sources that TN Highway patrool is being real strict on just about any motorcyclist, and....get this residents of Shady Valley are getting "anti-Motorcycle" by doing things as bad a oiling the crves onthe "Motorcycle Playground"
So if you are venturing out these days be wairy of Shady valley for awhile, and if you are going to TN look out for dick cops.

Sporty - Thanks for the report. We heard about some of this the last time we were up at Shady Valley. Apparently the cops were giving people tickets for things like not having both hands on the bars etc. General "we don't want you here" stuff.

Which brings up something I've been interested in. I've heard of people getting in trouble for doing wheelies and dragging knees. Are there specific laws against these activities, or do they just fall under careless/wreckless?

Rubberdown - We had talked about doing some riding this weekend. Are you still free/interested?

The Girl is busy this weekend, and I'm feeling rather ambitious. I need to wear out my tires. I can't do all of this, but here is what I am considering:

1 - You and I talked about Calabash
2 - Summit Point, WV races this weekend
3 - The Roanoke guys are going to the Dragon. Might be fun to ride to Roanoke and go down with them.

Jim, If you are up for it, I will be riding with Carlee and some folks from work for the Salute ride in Kinston and then Webe and I are heading toward Shelton's for the open house. After that we will be out riding. Maybe you, TJ and Wes can come down for the Salute ride or just meet us in Goldsboro after the ride. If we can get Jim R and Sabrina too, we can have a C3 jr. redo. We can cook out at the house after the ride and spend the night or just make an early night of it.

Jlnance and Sportymark,

I'll try to answer both of you with this one post. The pics of the XB's and P4 were taken about a week or so after the introduction of both models. As a side note, does anyone remember that the XB9R was released on a Friday the 13th? During that trip, since the bikes were released we could talk about them without any problems. I remember pulling into a gas station just outside of Mt. Evans, Colorado riding one of the XB9R's and a couple of guys riding some Japanese bikes came up and asked some of the others on P4's 'is that one of them new Harley's?'. I was kind of surprised that some Japanese riders knew the thing existed, especially considering that it was just released not that much prior.

From what I've heard, nowadays all Buell testing is performed inside of a test facility. In the past that wasn't the case. I remember when I first went out to Arizona to APG (Ford's Arizona Proving Grounds) and how surprised I was that the Blast! test riding courses were all on public roads. Some of you may remember seeing this...
The routes from APG would take us from AZ into NV and CA with many different loops. I don't remember anyone approaching us at our gas stops - at normal gas stations! - but I'm sure that it probably happened once or twice.

BTW, the P4 also had some spy photos taken of it.
