A week from tomorrow. September 10. I think I'll leave here around 7 am so I can be there around 1:00. I went for a ride this morning at 7 and had to avoid 12 deer & @50 turkey!! Any earlier and I might be calling the Progressive claims office before I get out of the county! Not sure yet If I'll be taking 221 down or the BRP. I also thought of leaving Sat afternoon and camping in Willsville at the motorcycle campground. Too many ideas today. Good news is the Uly has the updated kickstand so that won't be a worry. Bad news is the Dunlop 616's are gonna be toast by the end of this trip. That and I have the worlds crappiest camera for chronicling the ride. Maybe that'll be the title; "Crappiest camera rides again," or "NUTS and his incredible crappy camera do the Dragon!" NUTS

Nuts you big ole' crybaby. You can use either the Sony or Canon, whichever one you want to lug around.
Gotta have some good pictures of what I am missing and besides the only thing I would be taking pictures of is multiple "Welcome to our state" signs.
Its all good though. If I get the animals cycled in and have a good hatch rate I just may be bringing a new 675 and my yellow beauty to the 2nd annual Dragon extravaganza!
Speaking of which, my riding season is officially over. The LineX started to peel on the airbox cover and when they reshot it the messed up royally. Since I have layed out so much money for the torts and building an enclosure for them I have to wait until Christmas for the new cover. The old one is still functional but I don't want people to see her looking all jacked up. Besides hunting seasons are coming up.
Speaking of which....
Squirrel season is finally here! Me and ole' Nuts will be terrorizing the woods shortly and no Squirrel is safe from our wraith. Lets see if Nuts can top his record from last year HARDEEHARHAR!!

Man, I must be posting in the wrong section, with all the talk and recent acquisitions of new motorcycles; I need to find a poor man's support group. Think there's a 12 step program for buying bikes?
..Or maybe I just need to go for a ride.

Tank (...should probably leave the bike in the garage due to the mess created by that tropical "whatever" that blasted through here yesterday...but sometimes he's not that smart.)

254 miles today. Another 250ish tomorrow and I'll really be making some headway. I got properly schooled today by an older rider on an older bike. I love being taught that lesson. I will say he was much braver than I considering all the gravel on the road. Took the Uly for a proper dirt road test and managed to eek by without staining my undershorts. Clutch in using front brake is NOT the way to slow down off road. Leave it in 1st and let the motor and rear brake do all the work. Softening up the suspension seemed to help too. I did the test fit for the Sanford and Sons rig (Uly with bags and tires for Tank) and it looks like a keeper. I'll post pics when I load er up for good. I did see a wicked hayabusa today with a huge bottle of NOS and what appearead to be a Turbo. Yikes!!! NUTS

Got all my gear piled up ready to go, the trailer is pretty much packed except for the bike, and I'll have everything done/packed Saturday afternoon for a scheduled launch of 7am Sun.

Well, Gary(Jimduncan69) might be bringing one more; I'll know soon.

Brian(Lonexb) and I have exchanged info, and will try to make contact at some point. He is visiting family about an hour north of us, and the best I can tell, he's smack in the middle of the park?? Looks like a nice road or two up that way.

86hrs 15min until launch

p.s. just did a little more research and Brian's location is on the outskirts of Knoxville, and not in the park like Mapquest shows.

Sorry Tank, can't watch it. I don't wanna ruin the surprise and I can't stand the whine of an IL4. I'm going to pick up my full size cardboard "Luvthemtorts" tomorrow. I'm gonna strap it on the back of Uly and walk around with it. It'll go to all the places I go and have all the fun too! When I roll by Killboy "Jackie Paper" will be on the back smiling like a goon! NUTS stirs it up. Just like Bob Marley!

Make sure "Jackie Paper" gives Killboy a good boob shot.

Well, I'm leaving Sunday morning, but it's a long haul for me. I should arrive somewhere around 4-4:30pm. I believe Nuts said he'll be there about 12-1pm, but he can verify that.

You still thinking about making a show, Jim?

Tank - Sorry, I should be more specific.

My dellima is mainly about what I'm going to do Saturday. I want to ride. My current thinking is either to ride up to Roanoke and come down with you all on Sunday, or head into Western NC and meet you all at the Dragon. I'm going to take Monday off at work, and I'll be comming back that afternoon.

My mom lives in Asheville and I'll stay at least one night with her. If you all still have room, I may stay Sunday night with you.

I'm not coming from Roanoke, but Nuts is on his new Uly. I'm haulin' a trailer from Williamsburg, VA.

Got plenty of room.(at this point, you have your own room) It's $25/game at the pool table though.(j/k)

Puff,
I'll be there in spirit brutha so you can leave the life size in Roanoke . You can be assured I will be calling each evening to see how the days' events went.
On a side note, I am going to have to put the Squirrel hunt on hold tomorrow. I still ain't heard from Will so it looks as though I may be heading out tomorrow evening for the long haul. If I do I will stop by your house to drop off the camera, software and show you how to do the TPS reset before I leave. I also will be taking you up on the offer of borrowing the mattress for the back of the Trailblazer. Remember to collect my $125.00 from Tank once you reset his HEHEHEHE!
Jim,

Jackie, I'll be home around 6:00. Got some last minute prep to get done. At last check Kinko's was having trouble with the "mullet modification" I asked for. See you tonight. NUTS

Jim, I plan on leaving Sunday @ 0700. I think I'll take the BRP all the way down as I have not done that yet and being a Sun with the increased LEO presence I'll keep under lightspeed. That should help keep the journey enjoyable. On the way home next week I may need to blast up ole 81. It'd be great to hook up with you anywhere down there and tool into the Dragon @same time. Tank won't be there until 5 ish but my Pops has a noon target arrival. On the downside I don't know how much riding anyone will be up for Sunday as I'll have been riding all day and the Floridians will have ben in the truck since Saturday at 9pm! Dang, Florida gets to be a long state when you live in the southern end, don't it? Maybe you'll want to arrive early and get some rides in and then let us get prepped for Monday's assault. Time'll tell. NUTS

Nuts - I'll be riding up to Asheville tomorrow morning. I haven't got hold of mom yet, so I may be sleeping under the stars :-) I'm meeting a guy from Fayetteville (Toxic) at the Dragon sometime. He has a black Uly too, so there should be 3 of us. Thats more than I've ever seen in 1 place :-) I'll be there on Sunday evening and whatever you all are up for is good for me.

Would I be correct in assuming that there is only 1 BRP. So if I decide to ride north on it I'll pass you somewhere?

Also, I was at the Dragon a few weeks ago. We took the BRP from Asheville down, which brings you into the back from the TN side. It was an 8 hour trip. I suspect you'll be ready to make better time by the time you get to Asheville, as you will have already come a long way. If you find thats the case, get on I-40 at Asheville and head tword TN. After about 15 miles you will see an exit for highway 74 (#27). Take it and head west for about an hour. When you see signs for 28, take that tword Fontanna. 28 is a beautiful drive and dead ends at the dragon.

Hey Jim, Mapquest says if I take I-81 it'll be a 6 hour trip. I was hoping for no more than 7 hrs. What have I gotten myself into? I definitely do NOT want to take 81, route 221 is another option but riddled with slower towns. I figured i could get on the BRP and run @ 50mph until just outside Asheville. Might this need to be a 2 day excursion? I'm going NUTS
