Hell with a Buell he would have had 2 choices, either make the corner or stop before he ran off the road. He might have done a stoppy getting stopped if he wasn't careful but would've avoided the ditch...now if a car had been coming from the other way either bike, and rider, would've been hurtin' for certain.

That had nothing to do with what bike that was total target fixation. That was all rider error. All he could see was the ditch when he got out of whack and he did what everyone does that is target fixated, he rode right into what he was looking at.

That had more to do with crossing the double yellow than anything if you ask me. If the dumbshit in question hadn't gotten in a hurry, he'd have stayed on the road. He appeared to me to do what they teach in MSF courses. Once he realized he was carrying too much speed and was far too wide coming out of the curve, he straightened the bike and hit the brakes.

I'd go, but I just wasted most of my vacation hanging out in Jackson Hole.

Sorry Bill,

I read your post and realized I will be in Estes park that weekend and the following week with my relatives. I am attempting to ride all week and dirt bike, Atv riding in between. I should be pretty wore out.

Anyway, I want to go ride that ride (Tail of the dragon) this year, I planned later in the summer though trying to beat the heat.

Have a good time Bill, be safe and take lots of pictures!

Keef/Richie,

I believe we had this discussion at the last BRAG meeting. This is what I meant when I said that more skydivers bite it in plane crashes than in bad chute driving or chute failures.

Great dinner last Friday, with Sam and guests. Great turnout by K.C. Buellers in general.

Just want to say thanks to everybody for coming out to the house on Friday. what a crowd...between 40-50 people showed up. amazing! I can probably say that was by far the most Buellers we have assembled in kansas city ever or at least in a LOOONG time. I had a great time, I hope each of you did. We are definitely interested in doing it again.

Lee,I'm not going to bother to look up all the stats.,and post them, but plane crashes are rare, and Skydiving planes crashing are even rarer than that.Thats why when it happens, its all over the news. The vast majority of skydivers injured and killed are doing it with fully functioning parachutes,by impacting the ground upon landing.Last year there were 27 skydiving fatalities, world wide. So,by saying more skydivers bite it in plane crashes,is way inaccurate.Trust me on this one.......I know just a little about it!

Yeah, I reckon you're right. I didn't mean to sound argumentative, just wanted to illustrate what I was talking about. That is, planes overloaded with jumpers seem to make for an awful lot of hamburger.}

Lee,
Just a little heads up, a twin otter with a pilot and 7 jumpers in the plane is not by any sense of the word "overloaded", that aircraft can and regularly carried 13 or more jumpers on the aircraft and still be way under gross weight.....I know as I have personally jumped that aircraft several times in the past.

Lee,the plane wasnt over loaded at all.Witnesses said it appeared to loose power on one of it 2 engines on takeoff. On a 2 engine plane of any kind,is not a good thing to happen on takeoff. There were 8 aboard,if I remember correctly,it holds twice that many.Thats the advantage of a single engine plane, less problem if you loose a engine on takeoff, you just look where to land, you dont have to worry about roll over, and going nose in.

I know. I have flown a twin otter. I'm a pilot - hence the nick "Lowflyer." If you guys had chains, there'd be a shitload of slack in them by now.

Hey Lowflyer, do you think he had that engine too lean and it let loose on him?

PT-6 too lean? Not sure I'm following you. Sounds to me like fuel contamination or just plain engine failure.

Does anybody have a recommended ride for within the KC area? I've done Blue River Road a lot, that's a great ride. Anyone have anything else they would like to share?

My brother just bought a beautiful X1 and is wanting to start organizing small, weekly rides for guys here in town. We're talking 2 hours tops.

I appreciate the advice!

Thanks,

Brent

When/where do you all meet on Fridays? Do you ride every week? Where do you all go?

I know you go to Fuel a lot. Great place, just not where I want to spend my two hours away from the kiddos. I would rather hear my engine revving on my break...

Let me know.

Western Johnson Drive can be a hoot with it's rolling hills.

Old 56 Highway from Olathe to Gardener has a few turns.

Somebody should maybe see if some of the HOG guys can stop in as well.

Lee,
They already have plans to attend, we are passing out fliers here at the dealership. I used to deal directly with Reece when I worked in the parts department, he's a great guy, he's in my prayers.
