I was comming home today and saw a bike with gold rims pull into a gas station. I swung in and sure enough it was an XB12R. I talked to the guy. He is from Fuquay and has seen Mike and Larry but doesn't know them. I told him about badweb. Hopefully he will find us here.

JimN - Did you get approval from Blake to use the BadWeb logo? If not, we'll do something with the C3 logo and the BadWeb address. We need go get something together to hand out while we're all out and encountering Buells in the area. Can you believe that we are up to 30 people who have signed onto C3 or are on our C3 e-mail list. Pretty impressive considering where we started 18 months ago.

Kristi - Yes, Blake said it was fine. I did really wish I'd had a card when I saw him. Cause the odds of someone remember badweatherbikers is pretty slim.

JimN - I know you talked about the card, but did you actually have one laid out? If so, e-mail it to me and I'll get some printed here and can e-mail it to other C3 members so they can personalize it for themselves.

I keep a master of all C3 e-mail addresses.

C3 on the move again!!

I've had an experience with a Yellow GoldWing, most of you know what I am talking about, if not, remind me to tell you........

Larry more prayers coming your way. 2nd what Kristi says.

Well, gonna try to post some pics. Mike and I met out on the highway by my house and took off at 7:30. Got to McD's and waited till I heard that unmistakable 'Drummer', but wait that is not Mike Strong's bike. Warren says to me, ' I know nothing'. But it is Strong's bike but in new skin:

I love the new letters on the airlid.
A few minutes later Jim and Carlos showed up, and a little trick photography was in order:

We took off and headed north, northwest. Got on a really sweet road that had a few surprizes, including a guy on a old BMW that went from one side of our lane into the far side of the oncoming lane,in a blind right hand curve, douchebag!! Sorry ladies! Azzhats like that give us all bad Karma. But anyways, our first official rest break was at Lovers Lookout, insert joke here, where we met a nice guy on an interesting ride, an GST888, or something to that effect. said the bike had no frame, and handled like a dream:

When he took off, it sounded like a I4 sportbike, but Carlos and I both agreed that the bike didn't seem to lift and dive while he was going through out the gears. Back to the rest stop. The view was spectacular:

One quick pic before we took off:

Back in a minute!

I've had an experience with a Yellow GoldWing

Maybe yellow is the fast color?

I found some of this guys videos. The first one google turns up is of a Duc 999. It looks really impressive, with the guy hanging off the bike and dragging his knee. Then you realize he can't loose a goldwing whos operator is busy running a camera.

The first one google turns up is of a Duc 999.

I found that one too. The Duc rider looks like he's more concerned with dragging a knee than he is with cornering fast. He is NOT smooth.

Well we took off from there and stopped at Mabry's Mill:

Very cool photo opurtunities at this place. Too bad I didn't have my good camera w/me. A shot from inside the building:

You can maybe see all the bikes parked in the parking lot. After having some lunch, and watching MikeW. eat his free apples, we took off for 'Snake Creek' road, which was very enjoyable from the back of the pack:

So we snaked thruogh a whole group of roads, some wet, most dry. We ran into a small road construction, oppurtunity to sit and bake in the mountain sun:

Finally we reached ShadyValley and pulled into what seemed like another version of Deals Gap. Jinance is in front of me and a guy standing beside him starts pointing to the Buells, then I notice he is wearing a Buell shirt. Turns out to be Brad, then Mike starts talking like they know each other. Should've known, can't take him anywhere that he doesn't know somebody:

Brad is the tall one. Surprise you don't ride a Ss Brad. Another interesting vehicle was at this stop:

It has GM 4.3l V-6 in the back, and the guy said that it loves to run wheely's, hmmm sounds familiar! Well we said our goodbye's and took off down US421 south. Holy Crap what a ride! Thinking about going back soon, after new tires that is! My favorite picture of this trip came after me and Mike Strong split from the group to come home. Just before heading up the mountains to get to Boone, 421 runs right into this:

Strong's bike hadn't been running right all day, so we took our time. But I could tell that he was getting pretty PO'd at the performance. I had said that it sounded like somesort of intake or exhaust leak, and maybe a O2 problem. After about 2 hours of that we decided to pull over and start taking stuff off to see if anything was obvious. We found that a rubber cap that hooked to the throttle body had dry rotted, and the wire running to the temp sensor showed a little chaffing. After getting everything taped up and put back together, we were off with no more problems, except tiredness and boredem, 421 is as straight as an arrow after you reach Boone. We got to Greensboro about 10:30 and stopped for coffe, Mike headed on home and I headed south on 220. Those of you who havn't ridden 220 between G'boro and my house, save yourself the pain and avoid it even if caging it is an option. I HAD to stop twice on this 1.3 hour trip just to wake up, which turnes it into over 2 hours! Finally pulled into the driveway at 12:40!What a day, 541 miles and a aching back to boot, and I'd do it again tommorrow!

On a side note- I'd like to say that riding with this group is awesome. Jim Nance you poke fun at how you pull up last, but I hope you can understand how refreshing it is to KNOW that you are not going to push it. We know that we can get crazy and push it and not worry about anybody else. Everyone in this group deserves a pat on the back. Those of us who do get crazy don't think any less of those who come up behind us, we think more of you, and it is good thoughts.
Thanks guys for a great day trip!!

took off down US421 south. Holy Crap what a ride!

I'm glad you liked it.

It's one of my favorite stretches of road, partially because it was the first "twisty" I ever rode. It continues north as well, intersecting 58 at some point. I've never ridden on that section. Perhaps when we are up in Boone we can explore it. You can also continue past the store on the road we came in on. That is also a nice ride, though it's compleatly different than 421.

U4euh - great pictures!! Especially like the b/w of the mill. I'm thinking the picture of "Monkey Mike" in the creek could come in handy later........LOL. The thing is he's just so damn charming, what can you do??

Twig - LOVE the red! Regardless of what the Uly riders say, I've always been told that red is the fast color!!

Hey Jim, when you click on the first pic of Carlos and hit previous... is that Mike too?

Looks like it to me, but then I don't know him and can't identify that many bikes.

Thanks for finding and posting them for us.

Thanks for the compliment Kristi..Took it out for spin last evening, and it drew alot of attention. It ran pretty good, but seemed to not want to warm up. On the way back from WCU on Sat., I'll stop by Kevin's shop and see what he thinks, and go from there...starting with a new vacuum cap. Ya'll have fun at VIR! Wish I could go.

OK, here is the $64,000 question:

leak

I ran my finger under the oil cooler hose and there is absolutly no oil on the fitting. So, did it somehow leak out w/o managing to get on the fitting, or did it get tossed up off the road and blow up the incline?

Look at the top hose, looks like oil under it. Maybe the bottom got hot enough to evaporate any residue.

Hey C3 folks. I am new to NC (been here about 6 weeks) and am now brand new to Buell. Just bought Eric Schamberg's(escham) 2006 xb12s. It was in much better shape than I expected. No visible damage at all and in incredible working order. Not sure if you all heard of his problems or not. But anyway, the bike seems great. I get it from him on Wednesday after title transfer and stuff.

Anyway, would love to hook up with some of you all. Sounds like a great group, and there are obviously TONS of great riding opportunities in this great state. I start my new job next Thursday and the Rider's Edge class that same night. After a month or so of work and getting the kids settled in school, I should know my schedule well enough to plan a ride. If any of you in the Charlotte/Mooresville/Statesville/Salisbury/etc area plan any shorter rides, and you don't mind a noob, please let me know. I'll work up slowly to the longer rides.

Is there some official form or passcode or decoder ring to be a C3 member? : )

I've been looking through the Zee pictures. You can tell she hasn't been doing this as long as killboy. She doens't frame the shots quite as well. Still, she gets some good shots. I like the last one of me.

U4euh - You should haul your camera up to Shady Valley. You've got the skills, and no one is up there taking pictures yet.

Yea, you have to post to this thread. Guess you're official now.

Welcome to the group. I think Xb9ser and Bigdaddy are out near you.

You'll love the bike. Congrats on it, the job, and Riders Edge. Taking that class will be one of the smartest things you ever do.

I second, so therefore, you're in!! You will find that this is a pretty informal group. Explore all the folders, especially the Adventures folders. You can see some past adventures and anything upcoming. No special invitation needed, just pipe up and say you're coming!

Looks like we're picking up more and more Buellers in the Charlotte area!
