Toona, I live less than a mile off 30 near Fayetteville. If you want we could meet at Walmart on 30 as you head across out of chambersburg to continue on to Gettysburg.we could meet about 915-930 there. I believe Ras is taking 15 north to Battlefield.

XB, pm a cell number, sounds like a plan. I'll have to map out a time line, but since you are from the area, I'm guessing you already know how long it would take to get to G-burg dealer and count backwards.

;), plus since your are the "local" you can lead so we don't get lost, hahahaha.

XB,

Was that you I saw by the Frederick dealership yesterday evening around 7:30?

Toona:
My plan was to take 15 straight up, I'll probably map out a route that's a little more exciting...

Looks like Twintour will be meeting us @ Gettysburg also.

I'm not sure who's meeting me in Frederick, I haven't heard from anyone down here.
Regardless, I'll wait til 9AM for people to show then head out towards Gettysburg.

Actually there is one rider coming from
Parkville which is near Baltimore. He may
just meet us in Baltimore.

Hey guys,

It was good riding with 'yall yesterday, traffic bites sometimes doesn't it?

Early morning rides usually takes care of that, but it is difficult to get people together before 10am.

That was fun, glad to see everybody.

Never to early to plan for August and September, when there are two AMA Superbike races in our "backyard". VIR and Road Atlanta.

I bought the Suzuki SuperPair ticket which gets you into both races, including parade laps, parking passes and a t-shirt for $99.

WOOOOO HOOOOO! Lets see... back country curvy roads to start the day, serious twisties after Battlefield HD, 6&8 lane "track day" to and from Balti and then some slabbin' from Frederick to home. 472 miles total.

Yep, GREAT DAY.

Nice to hook up with you guys. Ras, can you email a schedule of your future rides so I can try to set a date for the reservior ride up here?

I think Ras held back too much on the track riding. Can't wait to do it again, but the bike is pretty much dead-lined. The vibration is too much now. You can head the engine bracket bouncing off the frame pretty bad.

I contacted Battlefield Harley about the isolater bushing, they told me to call back in 2 weeks. Guess the engine needs to fall out before they'll work on it. I even asked if they could go ahead and order the part now, and again was told to call back in two weeks.

More, from a press release issued by Buell Motorcycle Company:

ESTOK AND BUELL DOMINATE ASRA THUNDERBIKE RACE AT TOPEKA

TOPEKA, Kan. – Veatch Motorsports rider Dave Estok rode a Buell Firebolt XB12R to set the pole position, lead every lap and win the American SportBike Racing Association (ASRA) Thunderbike National at the Heartland Park Topeka road course. Ed Key finished second on a Suzuki, followed by Blue Springs H-D/Buell rider Walt Sipp, also aboard a Buell Firebolt.

Estok, the defending National Thunderbike champion, was top qualifier for the event with a lap of 1:48.335 on the newly repaved 2.5-mile Heartland Park Topeka Grand Prix Course. At the start of the 10-lap Thunderbike National, BMW rider Nate Kern grabbed the lead with Estok in pursuit. Estok passed Kern to lead the first lap and then rode away from the field.

Behind Estok, however, a fierce battle was waged by Hal’s H-D/Buell-Hal’s Speed Shop rider Dan Bilansky and H-D/Buell of Frederick rider Bryan Bemisderfer, both on Buell Firebolts, plus Kern and Key, as the four riders swapped positions for seven laps. Bemisderfer overcooked the entrance to Turn 1 on the second lap, rolling onto the paved run-off area, and then battled back through the field to rejoin the group racing for second position. Bilansky dropped out on lap seven with a mechanical problem, and Kern left the race on lap eight, also with a mechanical problem. On the ninth lap, while in second place, Bemisderfer crashed and fell at the entrance of the backstretch chicane. He managed to pick up and ride his Buell out of the muddy infield and get back on the track to finish the race in fifth.

“All the action was behind me today,” said Estok. “After the first lap, I just put my head down, and when I finally looked back, nobody was there. I really want to win this championship for Veatch Motorsports. And I feel like we’ve got some momentum going into VIR.”

Hal’s Speed Shop/Spyder Leatherworks.com rider Paul James rode a Buell Firebolt to fourth. Buell riders Greg Avello (Badger Motorsports/Hal’s Speed Shop), Sam Rozynski (Sound Waves/Hal’s Speed Shop) and David Myers (Delta Dist./Wynn’s Pro Products) finished sixth, seventh and tenth respectively.

Buell racers also took four wins and 8 podium finishes during the Championship Cup Series support races at Heartland Park. Estok nabbed a win in CCS Expert Thunderbike, while Bemisderfer won in CCS Expert SuperTwins. Racine Harley-Davidson/Buell rider Thomas Michels won the CCS Amateur Lightweight F40 and Amateur SuperTwins classes with his Buell Cyclone M2. And on Friday, in the ASRA Team Challenge endurance event, Team Fat Boy riders James and Avello won the GT Lights class and finished seventh overall on a Firebolt XB9R.

With his fifth-place finish, Bemisderfer takes over the lead in Thunderbike season points from Kern. After four of eight races, Bemisderfer has 100 points, followed by Kern with 95, Estok with 94, and Bilansky with 85. The next race on the eight-round ASRA Thunderbike National schedule is June 24-25 at Virginia International Raceway near Alton, Va.

All,

I'm leaving this Thursday for VIR if anyone's interested in going.

Unfortunately, I have to be back Saturday night and will miss the races. I'm going to assist Chris Young in the pit for the Saturday qualifying runs.

Randy,
See if you can't befriend a tech at Gettysburg who will order the front isolator kit, part no. L1501.02A8, for a 'downed bike.' The part arrived for my bike in 2 days!

Thanks again to everyone who came out to Baltimore this past weekend. I am glad I was able to meet all of you and look forward to riding with you in the future. I would have really enjoyed the ride from Gettysburg (or Frederick) but had to work.

RE: "The Reservoir Ride". I need to check my schedule at the shop on Thurs to confirm, but I can't think of anything off the top of my head right now for July 15.

I haven't run the complete route at one time, but I am guessing that "The Res Ride" would be around 100 miles round trip. We ran the "upper loop" and it was around 60 miles by itself. The Upper Loop is a 90% fresh pavement 70-80 mph sweepers (with the way that Ras rides, more like 90-100 ;) ), not many technical curves. The other parts of the ride, near the reservoirs, are the technical turns. I will try to do a complete lap early next week.

 Italian Hardley - a - Davidson

Had one of my Brother's bikes, while mine was down, over this past weekend. It's for sale, so if you're looking for a second, let me know. It's a nice unit -- 2001 RSV, under 5000 miles, $2500 worth of extras (exhaust, chip, +). $8,500, maybe negotiable.

A few pics at the bottom of this page:

Toona,

I believe (if my memory serves me) that Cborel (Christian) used maps.yahoo.com to map out a ride. I haven't tried it, but his example is here (can't get the 'newurl' tag to work):
http://maps.yahoo.com/beta/index.php#maxp=location&q10=39.093565,-78.060616&q9=38.909208,-78.184899&q8=38.659242,-78.229557&q7=38.673208,-78.384739&q6=38.709652,-78.517262&q5=38.964481,-78.288926&q4=38.947141,-78.21203&q3=39.116044,-78.156783&q2=39.160348,-78.155882&q1=+140+independence+dr,+winchester,+va&trf=0&mvt=m&lon=-78.011169&lat=38.991437&mag=8

May be what you're looking for.

I just realized that the date of July 15th for the PA Reservoir ride is not good as its the same day we're renewing our wedding vows! How could I've possibly forgotten that?

I'll post more information on the Res Ride once I've worked out the kinks.

You have some good dealers nearby.

Try Baltimore over on Pulaski Hwy. first

If you have some reason that you would not want to go there, the other one I would recommend is Lancaster Buell/HD in PA.

July Third - TPM @ Summit Main - Track day for me.. Judgin' by the look of the tires.. Uh.. I may need some new one (again) after this day.. Oh well.. what'cha gonna do? Any one else ridin' this day?

Anyone going to the races one of the weekend days? If so, look for me, say 'Hi' etc.

Aberdeen... I've heard that someplace before~

I'll see a Buell or two here and there around this area. Saw one last week on my way onto Post, a black 12S I think it was.

For no Buell dealer in a 30-45 mile radius there sure are a decent number of them around.

Race information can be found HERE

That's the weekend that the Wilson Bridge is switching MD to VA traffic (The inner loop) to the new span. It will be a mess!

We can do a ride from HDW, leave after lunch and do a nice slow, scenic ride along the Potomac River shoreline in MD, cross into VA using the 301 bridge (toll) and visit George Washington and Robert E. Lee's birthplaces, maybe get on a free ferry, etc

Practice starts at 5 pm, spectator pit access from 5:54 to 7 pm, races start at 7 pm and are scheduled to end at 10:15 pm

We'll get home really late, but it should be a lot of fun.

Two weeks later they'll be at Hagerstown, MD.
