Perfect timing!

Have had an appt at Bloomington HDB for a week to get new tires put on this Thursday. My rear Pirelli Diablo Strada has 9400 miles on it. Went to put it in the trailer so I can drop it off Wed evening before they close. My rear was flat. Now THAT is timing!

A new twist to the HDB/USBA track day at Putnam Park. There will NOT be tire service!
The Michelin dealer has three other events this weekend and has decided not to supply tire service at our event. Arrive prepared. If anyone needs the use of stands I will have a set there but be sure to have your tires changed (at least on the rims) before you get to the track. Sorry for the confusion but we are at the mercy of the dealer.

Please Help!
I need a pitcock for my drag bike. I have an S1 tank on it (the small one) and apparently the 110 race fuel ate the plastic. I tried to turn the fuel on and the plastic lever broke off! I have been trying to find a metal replacement if possible. Any ideas or a "where to go " idea? Thanks

Thanks for a good time folks!

The ride was fun yesterday. Made it home about 6:45. On the way back I shredded 45 one more time for the day. Got piece of 44 also then settled into a nice, comfortable putt back to Shelbyville then on to the bustling megatropolis of Morristown via Morristown Pike just for a few more curves. Total mileage for the day: 327-not bad.

The Lightning has developed what I think might be a mapping problem, but I have to check a few mechanical things first. It keeps gas-fouling the front plug after moderate periods of idling or low speed (RPM)operation. It's also started popping pretty bad under deceleration. It clears up if I get the revs up and/or run at a constant RPM for a while. Either way, it'll get fixed one way or another.

Again, thanks for a good time,

Dave

I just got back from the track a couple hours ago. Let me tell ya, if was serious FUN! You really get to learn just what you and your bike is capable of. The XB is even better on the track than I thought! I also passed a Ninja 636 on the front straight. That was big fun. :-)

I ran off the track a couple times, but I didn't drop the bike.

The new Scorpion Syncs stood up well to the cornering. I burned off quite a bit of rubber on the sides. I think my "chicken strips" have been reduced to maybe 1/8th to 1/4 of an inch. I never got my knee down, but I'm not using that as a measuring stick. It will happen in good time. I hope we can get a good group together next time!

I just wanted to say that it was really great meeting everyone this past Saturday and "Thanks!" to all that helped put it all together!

I'm looking forward to the next ride or event. As it turns out, I won't be able to make it to the meeting this coming Saturday as I had hoped. We will be in Philly for the weekend to see a Cirque show instead. I'll have to leave the calander open for future meets.

I love to ride anytime I have the time, so if anyone wants to get together, go for a ride, meet / ride / eat, just let me know!

And again, the day was great and everyone was super-cool. Very welcoming!

Till Next Time!
Shawn

Shawn and Al,

It was great having both you guys with us! You are both absolutely welcome to come back and ride with us anytime. Please feel free to join us for meetings in the future, the more input and ideas we have the better!

Al, the high performance radio control planes are interesting to me. My Dad flew models alot when I was a kid. It's always been something I've wanted to get into but unfortunately my motorcycle habit precludes other interests right now. The West Virginia ride is something I'm interested in too, can't do it right now though.

I had a great time, the best part is being around other passionate motorcycle people.. especially attractive ladies...If you have never seen these model jets fly it is absolutely amazing..they are super fast and the detail in the builds are fabulous. The top speeds are over 300mph...they sound like real jets and you think you are watching the Blue Angels...They take over the whole airport because they require a long landing strip...I tried flying them and it is a lot harder than it looks..Anyway I am going to go to WV in about a week... I bet you had a blast at the track day...I thought about you guys...AL

Do you know who that guy was at the track this weekend, the one with the part Buell, part Harley, part Aprilla custom bike? That thing was amazing! I wanted to get a closer look at it but I never had time.

His name is Kyle Long and he built the bike to race in AMHRA. Parts of the bike are one off fabrications, the motor is a Rotax and the front suspension is one I gave him off an XB. Kyle is a pretty talented flat track rider and a regular at the Indianapolis National Speedway.

Please let me know when something like this happens again, I know Ron said that they only have this ride once a year, but let me know if anything else gets planned.

Yea yea thats me. Smart cameraman, took pics of me with my helmet on in order to spare the destruction of his expensive camera.

It's been a big month for me, a pic on the Buell website, and now one in Fuell. My first trackday. I are happy. I just wish I would have got my knee down once. hehe

From the viewpoint of financial sense? Well, thats another matter. I'm addicted to spending money on my Firebolt. Someone stop me before I spend again!

Won't be able to make it to this meeting. I'll be ridin' down to the Kentucky Nascar truck race.

Al, sounds like a fun trip. I can't go this short of notice, but if you have anything going on this fall, I might be able to make it. Been wanting to get down to the Blue Ridge Mtns this year.

I was going to try and made the meeting but as I said I am committed to the Jet Show in Springfield, Ky tomorrow...I went to Asheville, NC this spring. I was not real thrilled with the riding, the roads were nice but the traffic made the roads unrideable and there were cops at every little town waiting for us. There are just to many full time residents. To me the Blue Ridge Parkway was a real boring ride..the speed limit is MPH which is about 20 mph too slow so that the Federal Park Service will write you up, it would only be a matter of time as you will never go MPH. Plus I have heard that the local cops have really put the clamps on Deals Gap..This all boils down to why I am searching for new riding ground in WV. They are courting motorcycle riders...check out the " www.Freedom Fest" starting next week in Snowshoe, WV. AL

Hey guy's I wanted to thank you for a great time at the Harley-Davidson/Buell of Bloomington Twisty Weekend. The ride put together by Fasted was great, other than the rain on Thursday, and the track day was a great Buell turn out. Not to mention the great dinner Jeff treated us to. Everyone who attended had a good time and I'm sure the event will grow in the future. Look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting on Saturday. In addition to the meeting we will be doing Demo Rides, Blue Knights Run, Lucas Oil Change event with a Playboy Playmate along with a Band and a cookout hosted by the Army Reserve.

Just another typical weekend at the dealership!

See ya there!

Was there or was there not a BRAG meeting Saturday?

Had some fun on 45 on the way to Bloomington Saturday morning. I came via 9, 44, 135, 45. Approaching Beanblossum on 135, I caught up with 2 separate groups of bikes. The first group was a bunch of cruisers all dolled up in their costumes and rolling about 5 under the speed limit(so what else is new, right?) and 2 guys, one on a new VFR, the other on a Duc. I'm praying that the first group wouldn't turn on 45, as matter of fact, I'd decided I was going to go the opposite direction of where ever the ABATE parade was going.

Thankfully, the cruisers go straight on 135 but the Honda and the Duc turn on to 45. I think, "Man, I hope these guys either can ride or I can get around them without much drama."
At first there's some traffic to deal with so I don't know what they're going to do but when everyone got to the passing lane they took off and cleared all the cars and I follow. We make the turn at the stop sign and after going through town they pick up the pace to a little slow but comfortable clip. The VFR was lead, the Duc then I. The guy on the Duc kept dragging the brakes through the corners and the VFR liked to run very tight to the inside on left handers so I backed off a little bit. If ther was a 'moment' I didn't want to be part of it. So for most of it, what I did was back off it the straights then run them back down through the turns.

This all worked very well until a very tight left hander just past the state park where Mr Duc about comes to a complete stop the goes again in the middle of the turn! I run wide, he goes, I throw a hard left and get a good grind out of the left peg feeler the rest of the way through. I make sure I back off after that. Stayed behind all the way to New Unionville where they pull off at the store so the Duc can re-fuel.

I pull in and roll up to the guy on the VFR and thanked him for a fun ride and talk for a few. he'd only had the bike for a couple of months and had considered waving me around saying that my being on a Buell he thought I'd want to go faster. I said no, that he did fine, that I hope I didn't make him too nervous. He was cool with my following and asked if there was anything that I saw that he could improve on. I cautioned him on the running inside on the lefts, that SUV's to the forehead probably hurt and he might want to talk to his friend about using so much brake in the corners. He marveled over the Lightning and said he'd almost bought one before getting the VFR which at that point his buddy came up and said he was ready to go. I told him about the stuff going on at the dealership, and exchanged so longs and that was that.

Some other things of note that day. One of Franklin's Police cruisers has a Greatfull Dead sticker in the rear window.

In Drafelgar, I saw a miniature horse being walked like a dog.

Three Story Hill Road off of 135 is hilly, but I don't think it's three stories high.

The Buell runs a lot better when the front plug wire isn't grounding out to the idle adjust cable, and the idle is adjusted properly.

Watching people ride a Buell for the first time (especially cruiser riders) never gets old- rev up, release clutch, watch head snap back, repeat.
