Yeah, let's rotate that engine of yours. Looks like winds are supposed to be @10-12mph until sunset but the clouds are supposed to dissipate by noon. I don't think I'm ready to brave the rapids just yet. Believe me I am looking foreward to some creek time, but not at the expense of further injury. If the fender comes in give me a ring, I can run over and drop off some RED loctite for your install.NVTS

Jackie, let me know if you need help getting that fender around the front wheel. I've got a 3 foot pry bar I've been needing to break in. I forgot to mention that I put a good seal of red loctite around your new oil filter, we can't have that leaking now can we? Hey and thanks for posting up the groups from my fine shooting yesterday. Hey Mr. Mom, hows it going? Did you get your special delivery yet? You know the one you paid extra to have in time for LAST Saturday's ride. I'm getting a little excited with the prospect of running the Dragon. Any idea how many days you can get away for? I'd like 2-3 days of riding and one day for travel. I'm getting me some leathers too buddy! I just saw all kinds of wrecks on Killboy. Motor oil in the road, people crossing the double yellow, chicks flashing their wares. I need some protection with those kind of distractions. NUTS

I need some protection with those kind of distractions.

Amen to that!
Some asshat laid down some oil last year when I was there. I somehow managed to stay out of it, but one of the guys in our group went down, along with a couple of others we didn't know. Dangerous stuff, to say the least.

I'm plannin' to just take the whole week off(paid vacation ), whatever week ya'll decide. Anytime is good for me this far out. Gonna' trailer the bike there, though. It's a nine hour drive for me.

I should be working today, but I ended up in the ER this morning. Went for a nice ride yesterday on my "regular loop", and a beautiful day it was. About halfway, there is a sweet dip on which I usually manage to gracefully catch a few inches of air.....

...But not yesterday! I was enjoying the ride too much and totally brain-farted the "catch-air" section. I didn't come close to going down, but I took a huge jolt in the assets. It didn't hurt when I did it, but later on, I was hurtin' pretty bad.

Doc says it's a bruised cockyx coccyx cokyx tail bone.
At least it's not broke. A couple days off work, and a few pills later, I'll be fine.

Glad to see you are gonna make it. I will forewarn you that I plan on going nice and slow so you guys will probably pass me on your return run LOL!! My biggest reason for going is so I can snag one of those "I survied the Dragon" tee shirts .

Yea, it's a real pain in the ass. Luckily, the twins are safe.

Let me know when ya'll nail down a date so we can figure out some decent shelter. I stayed at Fontana Village last year, but it was pricey then and it has gone up a bit.

No worries, Jackie. Nice 'n' slow is the way to go! At least for the first couple passes.

Nuts,
I'm in the wind this weekend. I have to go deliver some animals up in PA. and will be leaving on Friday afternoon and returning Sunday evening. If you would have went with me last weekend we could have had all weekend to fish and shoot but NOOOOO you had to go to work. Never fear I will check out the huge selection of stuff at Bass Pro Shops to let you know what they have.
My fender still ain't here and I am getting kinda bummed. I did however put a smokin' wax job on the Bolt last night and she is looking purty freakin' good. Tried to wax the Line X yet? BWAHAHAHA.

Nvts.
The fender came today so I welded her on and put 55 miles on the bike before our ice cream party. Man that front tire feels different. It grips like super glue. I am giving strong thought to getting the rear done with the same brand.
I had a Hummingbird explode on my faceshield today. It really took me by surprise and made quite the impressive WHACK sound but other than that it wasn't too bad. Had to stop at the gas station in Boones Mill to wipe of some innards and blood LOL!
When I rolled into practice on that thing ALL the little girls wanted to go for a ride. Even some of the parents were pushing me to take them but I broke out the ole' lack of an extra helmet excuse. They then tried to convince me to take them while wearing batters helmets. Crazy stuff man.
So what you gonna get into this weekend since I'll be gone?

Can't milk a bruise but so long . Went back to work today. Pain is pretty much gone, except for a random twinge here and there. Don't need the pills anymore, but I have a few left(hmmm, what to do )

Most of the people I work with didn't know that I even had a bike until this happened. And the rumors were flyin'!! According to some, I had crashed bad and was all broken up.

Shame you didn't know about the rumors before you went back to work. You could have gotten some major sympathy luvins' from the resident hotties.

Nvts,
What do they call a Whopper over there?
Finished the ball season tonight!!! Got another win which makes the final tally 9 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie. As of now we finished 4th out of the entire organization. Not too bad for 14 girls who have never played ball before. Incidentally teams 1-3 (which are the teams we lost to) are all from the same club and hire professional batting coaches to teach the players the fundamentals. Funny how serious some people take it huh?
Have fun fixing the fence this weekend.

Man I about spewed water all over my monitor on that one! Did you ever see the movie Spinal Tap? They had a song called "Big Bottom". Vincent,
Did the Mueller come yet? If so take your time mounting it and make sure you only snug the screws down gently. Doesn't take much torque to hold them in place unlike the base screws which takes much more.
Maybe when I get back we can "take it to a friendly place" and give it a try. I should be home in time on Sunday to get some evening plinking in if you are up to it.
"And now, little man, I give the watch to you".

You must have been right. She is running like she is on steroids. Shifts smoothly, easy to find neutral and once warm doesn't make that loud noise when dropping into 1st gear.
How do you like your bar end mirrors? I am thinking about getting the blockoff plates from Al but wanted your input on how well the barends work before throwing away the money.
I believe I have fell in love with her again now that riding season has sprung .

Jules,Delivery is scheduled for Friday afternoon. Some shooting would be a nice way to cap off my weekend of rest. I did the ole fall down steps routine yesterday leaving the afflicted ankle in really bad shape. It has swollen twice the normal size with nice bruising. I've lost feeling from the ankle to the 3rd toe. and me without any painkillers! I busted right in front of the library with at least 2 witnesses. Hobbled into the truck and cried for a good 5 mins. Then I went home watched "The Sting" and headed off to work. Have a good trip and give me a ring if you want to hit the range sunday evening. NUTS

Jackie,
It's late spring, time to fall in love again(about damn time,I'd almost given up on you) I hope you managed to get that front tire changed or your gonna fall outta love.
As far as the barend mirrors go,I love them,I'll never switch back.I have the CRG and the third eye and they both work good. But in my opinon the CRG's are worth the money.I've had them on both bikes now(presently on Firebolt) and the clarity is there. Also have the Napolian's that Jason borrowed, not in use at present. The Third Eye ones are a cheap investment for an experiment and do a decent job.....Charlie

Charlie,
I did indeed get the tire changed due to a kind donation made by Nuts. He gave me his old one which looks pretty much new because he decided to try a different brand. I believe it is a Michelin Pilot Power or something like that. I still have the stock Dunlop on back but will change it to the Michelin when it gets a little more wear on it.
Out of the mirrors you listed which ones fold in. I believe the ones I saw on there were the Third Eye model but can't remember if they folded.

Nuts,
Sorry to hear about the ankle man. I knew you were clumsy but this is getting ridiculous LOL! Were either of the witnesses fluffies?
Fishing season will be over before you get yourself healed up. We may have to resort to doing some late evening Catfishing. Fun stuff right there man. Sit on the bank with a lantern that attracts a swarm of bugs, get chicken liver guts all over you when you bait up the hook and cast.
That's just my game!

I like cottage cheese in my lasagna, but I don't like it dragging the ground. She needs a whole new type of slider for them thighs. Picture it...titanium thigh sliders...if you were in a car behind this phenomenon, you would need a new windshield from the space shuttle type fire you would be driving through.

Preliminary plans are in the works for the Sept. Dragon tour. It looks like departure will be in the 9/9-9/10 timeframe and there will be a house/cabin that sleeps at least 8. My Pop and another 3 will be arriving from South Florida sometime therein. These guys are dedicated "cruisers" but that might bode well for us who like to "enjoy" the curves. I presume their pace will keep me out of the Emergency Room. I am purchasing a pair of leathers anyways as I am not fond of road rash. Once I get a head count from our contingent I can apply that to the Floridians tally and we can get this show rolling. Any advice would be greatly appreciated regarding accommodations, routes, other roads to explore. NUTS

Jackie, I got the Mueller in today and it is a whopper. I will not mount it until you get a look-see as the eyepiece is about 1/4" away from the hammer. You should see that thing on top of the little .17 Sporter. Have yourself a good ride up with the girls and ring me when you get back. NVTS

Nuts,

I didn't realize this was a family deal, and was thinking smaller shelter. But I can go big too...

Give this joint a look see:
http://www.thetreetops.com/

They have garages n' stuff to keep the "cruisers" safe. Are they ridin' up?

I stayed at Fontana Village last year. Nice place with a store, resturants, activities, etc. Hill country, but no problems parking bikes. I would stay there again.

I can foot$ half of one house for a week at the treetops, or more somewhere else.(I'll likely stay the week)

Hope this helps as a start.

P.S. The Cherahola Skyway is one of the best roads, and the most scenic I have ever seen. Beautiful half day ride. But us buellers better gas up before we go. I got gas at the "crossroads"(Deals Gap) and made it to Tellico Plains, about 65-70mi on 1.1gal....high elevation = great mileage.

Tank, I don't think you need to pay for half of the house by any means...we'll see what the tally is for a week. I would guess a "big" house couldn't go for more than $1000 for the week. If that is split 6 ways it can't be more than $200 each. The Pops is trailering up with 3 officers from his shift. The # keeps hedging up but only so many can get off at any given time. I would like to get 3-4 days riding in before heading home. Jackie has said that he'd be happy with 2. If he wants to leave after 2 that's fine as I can ride the Lightning home from 129. I'm pretty sure the major players "Floridians" are looking to take a week total. 2 days travel and 4-5 riding. I think they'd like to stay somewhere close to 129 that also offers other byways for exploring. This is all too exciting! I had the talk with my Pop yesterday about informing the other riders to know their limits and ride within them. He'll be coming up here next month for a proper introduction to mountain riding. I'm sure he'll have an appreciation for the potential danger not apparent on the flat, straight roads they ride on down there. Alrighty then that'll be it for now. I'm needing to get some stuff sorted for the trip. Leathers, front axle sliders, brakepads, maybe new sticky rubbers and fix that short in the right front turn signal. NUTS

I'm getting excited too!

I had the talk with my Pop yesterday about informing the other riders to know their limits and ride within them
Always good advice. I tell myself that all the time.

I'm sure everyone involved is "good folks", and no offense to anyone, but honestly, I wouldn't mind paying a little more to have room to "stretch out", rather than being packed into a place with 7-8+ people I've never met before.

That's the reason for the "half the house" comment above, and why I suggested http://www.thetreetops.com/
They offer a discount if renting more than one house, so if we do 2 houses with 4 per house, that should still be in the $250 per person range. And if we end up with more "adventure seekers" along, there will still be plenty of room.......
...and they have garages, too.

Dang, sorry for the rant! just my $.02

If ya'll need me to do anything(make phone calls/reservations, procure supplies, etc) Please let me know. Happy to help in any way I can.

You may have seen this site already, but there's lots of good info there:
