And what about seeing the middle age man going thru a midlife crisis & decides to divorce his wife, buy a porsche or vette, do a comb over & try to pick up 19 yr olds with his hot car?

Thats a hell of a lot worse than just going out & buying a "lifestyle" harley:D

I havent really figured out 100% why men over 40 buy Buells yet. Perhaps I need to run a poll.

There's good examples, and bad examples, and examples that defy classification. Sort as necessary. :)

As for me, I'm over 40, and I just like how the Buell works. Got no interest in picking up 16 or 19 year olds. Wouldn't mind having a 'vette again just because I enjoyed the one I used to have many moons ago and because they're fun to drive, image or status have nothing to do with it. Guess I'm just me.

I did see someone unloading a nice older cream colored dresser at Suburban last week in the rain that sort of caught my eye. Haven't had time to wander down there and see if'n it was a trade-in or in for service or being brought out of storage for freshening up.

Bomber, I am about as unbiased as they come:D

I like my Harley but will be the first to tell anyone they are not the end all & be all of all bikes. There are better bikes produced & I love all sorts of bikes. RC51's, ZX9's, CBR600RR's, BMW's, Buells XB9S..just dont like the wimpy motor..Yamaha FZ1, Dirt bikes, KTM Duke2, etc, etc. However I dont like Guzzi's, just dont turn my crank.

People buy Harleys because they like the look or sound or want to be part of the whole "culture" thing. Some want to be the "cool guy" in their neighborhood, some buy them because their wives want one.

Just why do people buy Buells?? And why is that it seems the majority of people who buy them are actually 35 & older? Why dont the younger people buy them? Too expensive, not fast enough, not flashy enough, bad reputation, old mans wannabe bike????

If you are single & looking to have the ladies throw themselves at you..buy a Harley.

I must admit, I like Harley riders !! But I like Buell riders too !!

Hey!!! What's with all this old people buy Buells crap??? I am 29 and I would not consider myself old. I think it is more of a financial thing. I think you may see some more younger people on Buells once there is a better used market. You gotta remember, you can pick up a cheap 600 for about $2000-4000. The only thing in that range from Buell is the Blast, and performance wise, it just isn't close.

Oh Gosh, y'all are just too funny. Yep, Buells are different in every sense. Just got mine back together today and took it around the block. Whew...wish I had suited up. If I had I would still be riding. Dang, this winter has been a long one.

FYI, the Buell stays and I am just going to search for a "Miata Momma." Then she can ride in style like my car...Topless with the champagne flowing!

Koz you already can pick up used Buells for your $2000-4000 range. And what do you mean by a better used market? The bikes have been around for 20 yrs now. Seen quite a few S1's for 3500-4000, cyclones for less than that, & you cant even give an X1 away...I tried.:D

I think the younger riders are more concerned with blending in with their buddies on race rep japanese scoots . . . . . . not that many of them (or me, for that matter) can use the performance they've got

Isn't a Miata a Girls Car!!!!!! (running & ducking, and some glad I am 3850km from Wisconsin)

I am not an old fart and love my Buell, I also won't go through a mid-life crisis as my life will always be a crisis.

Wait a second the mid-life thing can go for gals to.

Dear Ms. Robinson,
Why did you purchase the Blue M2?????? Isn't that a Mans Bike

I just couldn't help myself, future apoligies to Char!!!!!!!!

Dyna, I'll give you $5000 Canadian for the X1 which is about $1.50 US. Will ya throw in the cost of shipping????
Just my thoughts

Newfie...If your good, I'll let you take it 'round the block in August. Let's just say, it ain't stock. Always was a sports car nut and this thing is a whole lot more reliable and fun than my old Brit cars.

Dang right it's a girls car. They love to ride in them!!!

HAHAHA,

I once saw one of those in a magazine and the owner had a 5.0L HO ford motor shoe horned into it and still managed to maintain all the stock hood and bodywork.

I still dont see how Bill folds himself up into that tiny car. I feel like the jolly green giant trying to get into one & have to practically be a contortionist. So long as the top is down the headroom is adequate as well:D

You want a badass lil car look at the new Mini cooper. I was checking those out in milwaukee & I like it, I like it a lot.

BTW, meeting tuesday night.

If I ever get my damn front rim back I can get my bike put back together. Painting the tank this weekend, then all thats left is paint rear fender, lace rear wheel & wire headlight. Hopefully have it all done for the ride on the 27th.

Dyna . . .oh yeah, you and me are BOTH unbiased (snort, chuckle, laugh) . . .. .

I think it takes some knowledge, and a lack of care about other's impressions to want a Buell, or a Triumph, or a Moto Guzzi or (once upon a time) a Ducati . . . . all, for lack of a better term, cult bike . . . .

most folks do not accumulate either the knowledge or the lack of care about other's opinions until they are, ehm, past 20 anyways (grin)

A buell is not an old mans bike!! A mid life crisis? You guys need to open your eyes or your visors. :) Here i am a 22 y/o girl and i own a orange/grey 2002 M2.

Why didnt i buy a jap bike? I dunno..... maybe because everyone has one and after all a buell is american made like me. Besides what is more bad ass than a girl riding a buell and burning you at stop lights!

There is the money issue. Buells are expensive and i had to work very hard for mine (two jobs). Speaking of which i just payed off last month! :) I all so have no complaints with my buell. It runs great and started on the 3 try after sitting an WI winter. I love my bike, i love the looks it gets at gas stations, and it is certinaly a little bit different just like their owners.

I'll try to post a little more. I havent wrote much on these boards. Working and trying to go back to school have put a damper on that. talk to you old guys later...
carrie... '02 M2
