OK, guys and gals. I'm ready to get some paint work done. If you know someone who does good work for a fair price, let me know. Dana has a guy who does great work (albeit pricey), anyone else?

It'll be a small job - two saddlebags and buff out the tank.

I'd really like to find out about Bill's guy that does the carbon weave (now THAT sounds expensive), but........

Don...You will if he shows at this Tuesdays BRAG meet or if enough folks show to find someone to remember his name. LOL The last meet was canceled by snow and only two of us diehards (read: idiots) showed up.

Wow, this is scary. I think I've met the criteria on a number of these points....and I know I'm not alone in this crowd!!!!!!! (don't make me name names....bomber)

You might be a Hooligan if...

You think the fastest way around town involves riding your motorcycle on sidewalks.

You like to impress people by doing wheelies and thought the cops parked on the corner would enjoy the show as well.

You've had a police officer tell you that the first time he saw you wheelie, he was impressed.

You are on a first name basis with cops from small towns you only ride through on weekends.

You think posted speed limits are "for cars" and do not apply to motorcycles.

You're in a constant struggle to retain your "driving privileges."

You know the phrase "continuance for dismissal."

You refer to the time when your license has been revoked as the "off season."

You speed up when you see the sign "Dangerous Curves Ahead"

You've actually had passengers fall off your motorcycle.

You think it's mandatory to wheelie out of toll booths.

You know what the term "faller" means.

You tuck your mirrors in for less wind resistance.

You need to buy rear tires several times a season because you keep blowing them out from burnouts.

You only get passed when you're parked.

You think any stop that doesn't involve an endo is a waste of brakes.

Your three motorcycles can't be ridden because various driveline failures.

You think of traffic as moving pylons.

You think that a motor that can over rev is really cool.

You buy more than one helmet a year because of crash damage.

Fellow motorcyclists get out of your way on group rides.

Fellow racers get out of your way during the race.

You can discuss the wheelie capabilities of every one of your friend's motorcycles you've ridden in the past ten years.

You've actually seen smoke coming off of your brakes.

Your idea of a brake job is replacing warped rotors and nothing else.

You think replacing the clutch is part of routine maintenance done when you change the oil.

You know what the term "tank slapper" means.

You buy the most common bike so that when you crash you can find parts in the junk yard.

You think the term "contact patch" means the surface area of your knee sliders.

You think a broom handle makes perfectly good passenger pegs in the event they've been sheered off from sliding across pavement.

You own a NOS kit, but can't figure out what bike to put it on.

You have seen green oil in your engine.

You're happy that Road America is now letting motorcycles compete and have already sent in your application.

You've ridden a wheelie up and down stairs.

Your childhood fantasy of riding a dirtbike on a golf course became a reality.

Your dirtbike fantasy of riding a sportbike on a golf course became a reality while being pursued by the local police.

You've ridden a motorcycle through a public building.

You're planning on ramp jumping the main street of Sturgis on Friday night during the rally at some point.

You've been banned from ever competing in an Iron Butt-sanctioned event.

Bail bondsmen solicit you for your account.

Wes,

You have indicated in previous posts that you do painting on the side. I need to talk to you about getting some saddlebag covers repainted. Can you match the Billet Metallic from Buell? It will be at least a set of narrow lids and maybe a set of deep lids.

E-mail me when you get a chance.

Thanks.

Thanks Bill. Always appreciate you lookin' out for me.

Aaron, Wes gets his paint from the same place that Buell does, so a match would be fairly easy I imagine. However, you gotta get in line behind me...

Don, I saw that you got a good price for you narrow covers. I found a set for a little less than yours went for, from Grndskpr out of Windy City. I pick them up this weekend.

We will see who is in line behind who.......

Painting the lids shouldn't be a problem.....I'm definately not a professional painter but i have painted a lot of stuff and can show you some samples....I won't be offended if you decide to go elsewhere!

I use PPG base coat/clear coat system. metallics are generally a little tougher to match than solids, but we've had good luck so far. I've done a number of the silver CBR600F4's and have had good success matching fiberglass bodywork to the original tank. Only issue is the minimum amount of paint i can buy is a pint and i know for a fact i don't have the colors either you or Don need. Pint is generally enough for about 2 bikes worth of bodywork. cost of the basecoat ranges between $30/pint to $70 on the high end....plus clear and primer for another $20-$30 just to give you an idea of material costs. Unfortuneately I'm small time so the paint guys don't give me much of a break cost wise.

now if it just warms up a little!

**ATTN UBRAG**

I have arranged for a guest presenter at our next meeting. His name is Rick Eggers. He hand-built an exact working replica of Henry Ford's 1st car, the 1896 Quadricycle. He is now working on a replica of the 1st 1903 Harley. His replicas are probably the most accurate in the country. He plans to have the 1903 done by the 100th anniversary, and ride it in the parade. He is willing to bring in the rolling chasis to show us. He will also bring his Quadricycle if weather permits. This is fascinatingly cool stuff!

(Rick is a former Buell owner as well!)

Does this sound like a fun meeting?
